- On September 14, 2017, Meredith Corporation’s WFSB celebrated its 60th anniversary with a public reception at the Connecticut Science Center in downtown Hartford. Introduced by weeknight anchors Mark Zinni and Erin Connolly on "Eyewitness News at 11:00 p.m.," reporter David McKay interviews meteorologist Scot Haney, evening news anchors Dennis House and Denise D’Ascenzo, and vice president and general manager Klarn DePalma about their experiences and feelings about working for the Hartford - New Haven television market’s CBS affiliate.
Among the other current staffers seen during the course of this report are traffic reporter Nicole Nalepa, New London bureau chief Kevin Hogan, chief meteorologist Bruce DePrest, political reporter Susan Raff (interviewing Congressman John Larson on “Face the State” with Mr. House), “Eyewitness News This Morning” anchors Eric Parker and Irene O’Connor, and Mr. Haney’s “Better Connecticut” co-host Kara Sundlun. A few of the former personnel who pop-up in this package include anchor Al Terzi, sportscaster Joe Tessitore, anchor Gayle King, and meteorologist Hilton Kaderli. Also shown is Academy Award winning actor Ed Begley, a Hartford native who had performed on WTIC Radio from 1931 to 1942, leading Channel 3’s inaugural broadcast as WTIC-TV on September 23, 1957.
The video includes clips of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and their aftermath, the UConn Huskies defeating the Duke Blue Devils to win the (March 29) 1999 NCAA Division I men's basketball championship game, and exterior shots of the building in Rocky Hill, Connecticut that WFSB has occupied since 2007.
