I think you did good for a first time out. I only started flying about 3 weeks ago with a 3 channel airplane and just ordered the Sport Cub S this afternoon. Hope you've had good luck with yours and have made substantial improvement in your flying skills.[Trimming these planes can be a pain but after you've accomplished getting the trim and CG just right they'll fly pretty nice.]
Also, in beginner mode rev engine once then wiggle plane around and the control surfaces will move a lot trying to compenate. Now your in beginner, safe mode. When you were moving plane around in your hand there should of been more movement on control surfaces.
Nice job! I'm also starting with this guy and have found it really needs some throttle to not stall and when it starts to do that you need a little more throttle to get air moving over the control surfaces. Sometimes it's just floating so lightly on the air that the ailerons and stuff don't actually generate a lot of force. Curious to see how you've progressed with it!
Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, this is a very light plane. Sometimes when I am experiencing the lower response to the controls I have to switch modes to intermediate to get more aileron, rudder and elevator response. I've also had numerous times with mild wind where the plane flies stationary into the wind and then it really carries the plane quick downwind. I should work on putting together an update video; however, I was pretty excited to recently pick up the micro Timber at rock bottom price (without a controller) just before Christmas that is not much bigger but includes lights and flaps. I may have to experiment with trying to put lights on the Sport Cub S because it doesn't take much distance to start having a hard time seeing whether it's flying towards or away from you. Lights on the wings are very helpful in solving this problem. Happy flying and come visit again soon!

Looks like fun, thumb up.
