Andrea leaving honestly took a piece of the show w/ her. When she left it was never the same & the show got a huge bump in 93 w/ the marty todd saga but when that ended creatively at least ae's loss was there
U make a great point. After it was clear she was gone oltl dwindled near the bottom of the ratings in 91. That's when they hit the panic button & hired Linda Gottlieb & gave her full control to help the show. She did that b/c 92 to 94 was the last golden age of the show. I know much of the cast did not like linda but the show went back up to 5th from 11th & won all those emmys for that huge 93 spring fling & trial aftermath. Once the todd & marty saga had its closure Andrea's loss was felt again. I read that during mitch & Tina's hot affair in 85 or 86 the ratings were at their height.
@@natalieps2387none of what you said is true. OLTL’s peak ratings were before Andrea Evans’s return to OLTL. And while her character’s popularity may have helped the show to remain in the top three for most of her years, the ratings did not plummet to the bottom. They remain relatively stable with the rest of daytime in a relative middle and did not reach near the bottom ranking until the late 90s. Either you’re making this up or you have bad numbers.
The original actor or actress is usually the favorite with the viewers, especially being andrea evans was the female lead on oltl along with Erica slezak and robin Strasser.
I was so sad when Andrea Evans left the show and even more upset about the fact she was forced to leave the job she loved. Tina "WAS" OLTL. She was flaky, campy, flighty but also a vixen! I love how Tina was always in trouble. I know she constantly played the damsel but she was just so much fun.
Not sure what timeline. Andrea Evans had a starker . Always loved Tina. Vicki and Tina are my favs. One life to live is the only soap I ever watched . ❤️❤️😢😢
Tina was the daytime, drama, version of Lucille Ball; someone who was always in trouble with her husband, and others, and always cooking up hair-brained-schemes.
Funny you should say that. Questionably red-headed/strawberry blonde with Latino(half in Cord's case), always involved in hair-brained schemes. I wonder if the writers had the Lucy/Ricky thing in mind when they paired them up.
Losing Depaiva, Fiona Hutchinson, and later on breaking up Clint and Viki also contributed to the demise of this show. But I agree losing Andrea Evans was the biggest blow.
Andrea's leaving was due to the fact she was being aggressively stalked by her Stalker and she wanted to heep herself AND her coworkers safe from him !!!😢
@ziola90 I wanna say LOL but at the same time I'm so serious about your comment. I wonder how long Tina would have stayed on OLTL if that nut didn't go after her
Andrea Evans was the best Tina. No offense to the recasts, Karen played Tina's naivety, Krista played Tina's scheming ambition. But Andrea Evans perfected the balance between the two. They also moved away from the Cord and Tina pairing with the recasts. Why? The show suffered without Andrea Evans. Sadly she left due to being stalked in real life. As a fan of Andrea Evans, that was the best choice for her safety and her peace of mind. Who knows what could have happened to her if she stayed on the show. As a fan of OLTL, it was a great loss to the show I don't think they fully recovered from. The subsequent writers did introduce some great characters, like Todd and Blair. But it felt like at times they wrote for newer characters at the expense of legacy characters. It became less of an ensemble as it was in the golden 80s. Like with Viki, they never should have split up her and Clint. Yes, at the end of the show, they reunited VIki and Clint, as well as Cord and Tina. But they had needlessly been apart for 20 years.
@@MrCraigblaze I believe he was caught. When she went to LA she kept a low profile. The stalker had managed to get into the studio before she quit and was planning to kill her. She figured moving across the country was the best way to get away from him.
@@keithalvarez6229 Yes I would think that would work but does LA not have stalkers ..?? Was he charged with stalking.?? Wasn't Elaine Peicsi playing Dorian in 1990 ?? XD
@@MrCraigblaze Yes, Elaine was playing Dorian then. Andrea only had the one stalker so she didn't have to worry about anyone else. I'm not sure what the man was charged with but I'm pretty sure he did get caught because she returned to soaps in 1999 and moved back into the public eye.
We love you Andrea XOXOXOXOXOXO
Rest in peace, AE…..
Andrea Evans was the heart of OLTL- losing her was the beginning of the end of the golden era of the show (1985-1990)
Sorry but Vicki was the heart of the show since 1965..to the end of it.
That’s why they had to get Todd
I remember that cute CJ RIP Andrea
RIP Andrea Evans
I loved Tina. She was a real beauty.
Andrea Evans was the best Tina! :)
Andrea leaving honestly took a piece of the show w/ her. When she left it was never the same & the show got a huge bump in 93 w/ the marty todd saga but when that ended creatively at least ae's loss was there
Andrea Evans was well on her way to rivalling Susan Lucci as the face of ABC Daytime. Her departure was a huge blow to the OLTL brand.

Tina is awesome
It's sad, she added so much to the show. And what they did to Tina later on really damaged the Lord family.
The beginning of the end for OLTL.
The Enforcer what great storylines or scenes would you like to see again?
The original actor or actress is usually the favorite with the viewers, especially being andrea evans was the female lead on oltl along with Erica slezak and robin Strasser.
Both Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser were recasts themselves!
i love her
Andrea Evans! Is the only tina clayton lord roberts...

Wasn't it because of a stalker
@@zt1053 Yup
Why was she force?

We need to start a campaign to bring back Andrea Evans before show ends!
At least she came back !!
Soso, but not like 84 - 87 and 85 - 86, nothing will ever top those two years!!!

I wish the Young and the Restless would bring Andrea back to play Patty Williams again
Andrea Evans leaving OLTL was the beginning of a downfall for OLTL that it never recovered from
And then they lost Jensen Buchanan in late 1990
Losing Depaiva, Fiona Hutchinson, and later on breaking up Clint and Viki also contributed to the demise of this show. But I agree losing Andrea Evans was the biggest blow.
How many times did she marry Cord?
Renee was so great too..only one to handle Asa.
Andrea's leaving was due to the fact she was being aggressively stalked by her Stalker and she wanted to heep herself AND her coworkers safe from him !!!😢
All that started when Michael Malone/Josh Griffith returned in 2003. And for the great "Flash".
This was before Passions as Rebecca Hotchkiss?
@ziola90 I wanna say LOL but at the same time I'm so serious about your comment. I wonder how long Tina would have stayed on OLTL if that nut didn't go after her
I’m thinking for the duration of the soap but who knows

1990 & 1991 WERE TWO HORRID YEARS FOR oltl!!!!
those other 2 Tina's were terrible
imachildofthe80s8089 Nah Tina was never ruined! She has always been like that! She always lied and did bad things. She always wanted to be rich.
At the same time, the love she had for Cord, her children, Vikki and nieces and nephews was real, not fake.
why did Andrea leave... rumor is she had a stalker
+Reo Langster Andrea had a stalker at the time and, afraid of what he might do, she quit the show and moved to Los Angeles to get away from him.

That kid kind of looks like John Loprieno.
Karen was a really good successor, but there's only one Andrea.
@Irishmodel78 I agree with you completely.
I know. Then when Tina does come back it's completely ruined :(
