      So are you crediting the humans or God? Also not to be a hater but this really isn't incredible imo. Like if he was lost in space and stuck in a black hole sure but this was like a bunch of guys getting something soft for the kids to fall a couple feet down into.

    Kid is amazingly strong. This happened to me years ago at Devils Head In Wisconsin. Some how my wife fell off and was hanging like the little boy. She dropped her poles and one ski fell off. I managed to pull her back onto the chair. It was a lot higher than the kid in the video. My wife was really upset but glad she didn’t fall. When we got off she fell hard having only one ski on. As often as we went skiing in Colorado and New Mexico since, she never got on a chair lift again.

      @@JM-zk9outhe newer ones have a bar to stop people from falling. I remember the older ski lifts had none and I used to always rap one arm around the middle pole attached to the cable to stop myself from accidently falling. The reason why there are no seatblets is because at the top you have to push yourself off the chairs.

    You can see the safety bar is down. He's hanging from the footrests attached to it. The way that the crowd was instructing the lifties says this was more of a misload out of the station just past the low-clearance area. Perhaps he was still getting settled or wasn't far enough back on the seat and slipped. If thats the case, its a very common form of misload. I'm glad it looks like the child was alright and a good reminder for lift operators to always look up the line to ensure the load.

      I used to see that all the time on one of our lifts when I was a skilift mechanic. This particular lift (a Borvig double) was VERY fast and there was barely 15 feet between the bull wheel and loading area. Not a lot of time to get ready. Even on slow speed it was as fast as some of our other lifts. So many parents thought they’d be able to get their own ass on the chair and also lift junior onto it, what usually happened was they were still trying to lift junior when the chair left the platform and junior went face-first into the snow below it. We started telling the lift attendants to turn anyone with small kids away except when there were FIS races going on (this lift was right on the race trail.) All they did was make everyone else wait while the lift was shut down so one of the attendants could get the kid out. Half the time mom or dad tried dropping off the chair and their skis screwed up their landing. Then they had to be helped too. Everyone was tired of the mountain manager getting on the radio and asking why the lift was stopped, so we decided “no more small kids.”

    Awesome save. But… I simply can’t understand why so many people don’t bother to put down the bar. In some cases when I put down the bar someone else on the chairlift feel annoyed. I mean, why? Do they think putting down the bar is pussy move? Or that putting down the bar makes them feeling like trapped in jail? I just can’t understand. This year in park city, a ski patrol on the lift didn’t pull down the bar, a tree fell down and hit him, then he fell off the chairlift and died. Even then there’re lot of people don’t bother…

    • @itac0i
      @itac0i Рік тому +2

      Putting down the bar isn't pussy I don't really care honestly if somebody wants to while I'm on the chair with them go for it. The only time I could ever see anyone falling off a lift because of no bar is if your the scarecrow from wizard of oz... You know the one that needs a brain? That being said I've been skiing every year for the last 10 years 100+ ski trips and I've seen some shit, medivac choppers and those don't come unless someone is dying and none of those was because someone slipped off a lift. They should also remove all the tree's possibly the steep slopes and drops so we can all ski safely. Just joking If you need all this safety you should be golfing or something like all the other 80-year-olds. Want to be safe at the ski resort, best option is wearing a helmet. If you can't make it to the top of the mountain without putting the bar down, are you sure you could make it down the mountain without hitting a tree or falling to your death? Possibly find a new sport.

    • @chaoshi2395
      @chaoshi2395 Рік тому +4

      @@itac0i 100+ ski trips in 10 years doesn't mean shit. You didn't see doesn't mean it didn't happen. Even if you ski 1000+ trips in 10 years it's still a negligible sample compared to how many people skis. What you see really doesn't count that much. I've skied even more than you in just last several years FYI. And I've seen more than one case during windy days when the lift suddenly stopped and it starts to swing back and forth.
      Also your arguments make no sense. Whether someone can hit a tree or falling down a cliff to death has nothing to do whether he/she should put down the bar. It's a simple logic. Sure I can drive safely without buckling up, and it will probably be fine for years, until it doesn't. Skiing is already an exciting/dangerous enough sport relatively speaking, I would just minimize the risk as much as I can so I can enjoy more for longer time. Pulling down the bar is one of few things that cost close to zero effort but with much more safety. But of course I think the risk-reward concept might be too complicated for you, you know, who needs a brain, like scarecrow from wizard of oz...

      @@chaoshi2395 I'm sure if a 100 mile an hour gust of wind came to make my chair do 360's I could probably hold on to the back and not fall. But on the other hand if I bought my grandpa who was a world war I fighter pilot I don't know if he could hold on any more of these days. He would probably fall, definitely would use one if he came with me

      I was at Park City (Canyon side) that day 1/2/2023 when that accident happened and the Orange Bubble lift is closed due to that death. From that day on, I put down the bar on every chairlift I rode. When people got annoyed, I told them what happened in Park City that day.

    • @kgzhu
      @kgzhu Рік тому +2

      @@itac0i That park city death happened because a tree fell down and hit the chairlift cable and then the chairlifts start to swing like crazy. That guy didn’t put down the bar and got bumped out and died. The bar is like the seat belts in your car. If you don’t run into an accident, the seat belt is probably not used for the entire life and you will be fine. But there are things out of our control. The bar is like the seat belt, it can save people‘s lives when these extremely rare situations happen.

    I skied years w 2 small children on 1 chair, there is no way this is possible if the child is obedient and the parent diligent, I just don't understand how! Should b investigated, maybe the parent is trying to have an accident for lawsuit or to get rid of the kid or the kid is disobedient & mindless and another parent who does not discipline.

    • @Noa_Gray
      @Noa_Gray Рік тому +1

      No it’s just bc they didn’t put the bar down, and with their pants being slippery on the seat. He could’ve easily bent down to fix his snow shoes, or look down and started sliding. Luckily the parent or person with him caught him or he would’ve died. But if the other person leans down to pull him up then he would fall as well. It’s not an uncommon thing if the child doesn’t know what could happen
