    Some people are excellent martial artists, and then there are excellent martial artists like Daniel, who are just as dope at teaching. Being able to pass down, share and teach one's skills effectively AND efficiently, is no small feat. Well done, and thank you so, so much!!!

    Note: Never hold your stick higher than two inches, it can be disarm easily when using in real life, also twirling in doce pares is called ARCO, its the most effective counter after defending from a strike. Another thing to take note is never lessen the grip when twirling don't use your finger, use your arm together with the wrist that way you have power while twirling, and it won't get disarm easily.

      Yes your video is correct but your way of teaching is for sports which includes rule, what I've learned is fatal, it teaches you how to beat someone to death with a stick treated as a blade. So yours is valid as part of a rule in sport. Mine doesn't follow rules. So We can't compare the twirl, I was simply giving advice and I stand corrected. Good day.

      @@exogendesign4582 I don't disagree with you. :) I was just clarifying that yes, I speak from a sport context and not a self-defense context. :)

      @@exogendesign4582 what your implying to is kali/eskrima befor you say, i know arnis and eskrima are the same but arnis is modern eskrima used for sports/self defense, eskrima is using any weapon a stick or any kind of material that can kill
      and beat your enemy to death im not implying that you are wrong im pinpointing on what your describing

    • @exogendesign4582

      @@stick3013 you're correct. Its called eskrima, because its origin is from Eskrima de Campo, it uses the arnis "garote". I am simply adding tips to have a better ARCO in this context twirling. ARCO is one of the hardest strike because you need to train your wrist to create a circular strike motion so wide but so small using your wrist and arm. The technique is from Doce Pares its a style of stick fighting its basically level below of amara, doce pares is 12 strike style of stick technique, while amara is 144 strike of 12 strike in different combination. Those 144 strike has ARCO in its all mechanism. I could show you a video but I am to shy to be on camera. So it would be great if we can meet in person so I could display and explain the technique to you.

    • @daniel_bernas
      @daniel_bernas  11 місяців тому

      In the context of training, it's for dexterity and forearm conditioning to polish the strikes.
      In the context of performance art or forms tournaments, it's a nice flashy move to utilize between strikes.
      In the context of combat, it can MAYBE help with hiding your actual target but it's mostly a flourish there and may not be the most practical thing to do. (in my opinion) You're not gonna see me twirl in a sparring match unless I'm messing around for fun. :))

    • @Astral8expl

      It’s called concentrated momentum just like Bruce Lees infamous one inch punch is against the physics of momentum in a strike the further back in a chambered position can you start
      A strike from the more torque from feet, hips, shoulder the further the strike or weapon travels the more momentum equals more forces and strength at the risk of telegraphin you strikes raring back isn’t as effective as place the momentum into a twirl or snapping strike, so twirls are effective at blocking and deflecting blows, for feinting and striking

      I don't believe in an overall best style. I think results have more to do with the dynamics between you, the teacher, the group, and the style. You should try different sources if you want to find what's best for you and your personal goals (we all have different goals and needs.) That's my opinion.
      I'm an eclectic practitioner myself: instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3OTQxNTg0NTI5MzgyODk0?igshid=ucvur8w262xu&story_media_id=2397143776855565185

    Is the looser grip mid twirl a point where the stick could be more easily knocked out of your hand?

    • @daniel_bernas
      @daniel_bernas  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, for sure! A firm grip when sparring or fighting is important, in my opinion. I was suggesting loosening the grip as a practice phase to get the momentum to twirl for the sake of twirling.
      But if you mean when I said loosen the wrist mid twirl for the final phase, I wasn't suggesting loosening the grip. More of relaxing the wrist and forearm so that the stick can flow instead of trying to control it the whole time. Hope I articulated that right and made sense. 😅
