    I have some experience with the. Climbing Hydrangea. They are very difficult to get started and they are slow growers but once they get on to feeling good, they really take off. Just to let you know, I recognized your accent, it's from up North, it sounds borderline Midwestern.....The Climbing Hydrangea says 1 to 6 hours of sun BUT that means if you are in South Georgia or Northern Florida it needs about 1 and 1/2 hours. I'm in North Georgia, ours gets about 3 hours of afternoon sun... and is doing fine. I have a feeling if you want good growth with flowers yours is going to be a 6 hour flower. That is of course unless, I've misjudged your accident or you've relocated further south. I made this mistake in a way. I purchased a Climbing Hydrangea and it was super expensive. I don't remember how much because it was almost a decade ago. I believe my tag said something very similar so I put it in a place where it got about five hours of Sun. I killed it and I didn't quite know why. That first year, I was like, I fertilized you well, I gave you water, I know how to garden. WTF? I was shocked when that expensive plant just gave out on me. With the Climbing Hydrangea I have now I had to relocate it once before I found it's honey hole or sweet spot. We have the hardest time growing roses down here. I'm talking about real beautiful roses, like heritage roses, not the old knockout rose. Roses absolutely must have sunshine but you really have to microclimate them, where they have protection for 3 hours during the midday Sun. They need to be in a place also that is moist but.... not overly moist. It's like a treasure hunt on your land it often takes a pocket full of cash before you find that Rose sweet spot in your yard. When you find one, then you just stay there with your roses and they never look as good as roses from up North.

      I have climbing hydrangeas in three different spots. We will see where it loves it most. Thanks for the feedback.

    Oh that will be soooo beautiful!! New subscriber! I planted a climbing hydrangea vine 3 yrs ago so am hoping this will be the year it 'leaps'. My question is will it manage to attach to a chain link fence or do I need to provide other support?

      It will attach on its own. They are pretty strong vines, so make sure the chain link is strong enough to support it 👍 these vines take a bit longer to take off, but worth it! I have three of them haha.

      I will. I have quite a few of them in different sun exposure and protection. It will be interesting to see how each of them behave in different micro climates.

    Doesn’t this take 5yr to begin blooming?

      It can take awhile. Climates are different and often they have a mind of there own, but in my climate it takes around 4-5. It takes patience, but the foliage is nice. It’s a slow grower in the beginning

    How are they rated for deer resistance?

    • @FlowerFanatic
      @FlowerFanatic Рік тому +1

      I know they grow tall so the deer won’t get the top of them. Maybe the bottoms would get nibbled if they are hungry enough. You could protect the bottoms with a deterrent shrub or some plastic netting or something. I’ll for sure that when they are young. That is a good question

      My guess is they are not super deer resistant. I’ll
      Be doing quite a bit of protection this year for numerous things in my yard 🤷‍♀️
