- Among the big changes to the contours of Karnataka’s political landscape this Lok Sabha election is the pre-poll “partnership of convenience” between old rivals BJP and JD(S).
The pact between BJP and JD(S) was formed to mutually benefit both parties through the consolidation of the Lingayat and Vokkaliga vote banks, all to defeat a common political foe - the Congress.
The stakes are high for the JD(S) this election. The regional party is still stinging from its worst poll debacle in the Assembly elections last year, where it won only 19 seats across the State. But, psephologists say, the BJP entering into a pre-poll alliance with the JD(S) also shows that the saffron party believes it is not as strong in Karnataka as it was in 2019.
Will this be a win-win situation? Who will the alliance benefit more? How will the caste arithmetic and the redrawn political equations pan out in the Lok Sabha elections?

JD(S) keeps on switching sides. They are deemed to become irrelevant soon as they continue to do this.
Kumarasamy will be remembered for many years in political history of Karnataka for his coalition engineering skills. No one knows whether he has a chance of becoming PM of India like his father whose hunger for political power has never diminished even at this age of 90.
To add, his son contested from Mandya last time if I remember. They keep switching sides and will be the reason for their own irrelevance.

*To tell the truth, the courage to go to Karnataka and see its ancient and historical remains came only after the Congress came back to power. Before that, it was like going through a forest with wild animals. India has been destroyed so much by communal forces. The role of a man named DK is big in this.❤️*

It’s true, JdS in any case still stick to around avg 15% votes which is critical for both congress and BJP.
Congress is always used jds as their startup and throw them when not required
I agree with jds as regional’s party survival is very tough with money and power and switch is inevitable
JDS and INC have the same social base. The alliance with INC had doomed both in the 2019 LS election. Due to this, JDS further suffered the most in 2023 state election.
Compared to this JDS and BJP have complimentary social bases, hence it should work in their favour now. However it will depend on the chemistry of the leaders at the local level.
