    Glad I watched this one. I am in the process of replacing my CR Touch as the housing cracked near the mount. I decided to go with a 3D Touch and I was gong to use the CR Touch cable, but looking at the cables of the CR Touch and the 3D Touch, they are definitely wired differently.

    Great video Zachary! Creality has been selling different versions of the BL-Touches. The wiring should be standardized. Thanks again!

    Hey Zach, sorry in advance. I'm not sure if I might have misunderstood the purpose of this video, but it seemed to be more a lecture about installing a BL-Touch than a demonstrative "How-to" video. It almost seemed like you intentionally cut all the parts of actually installing anything from the video in favor of gestured speaking to the camera. It would have been nice to see the BL-Touch unit installed onto the print head, despite it's alleged simplicity, and how the wire was run down to the board and what the screen prompts look like when flashing it. I'm sure that wouldn't have even added much time to the video length.
    That said, I do appreciate the sentiment and hope you will continue to create more education content for 3D printing in the future.
    👍

      Hello, I'm open for positive critics. I do see what you mean, but I never really thought that this was a lecture. I'll try to keep that in mind for newer videos

    Do I need to manually level the bed before trying to use the BL touch leveling? My nozzle and bed is way off

      Yes, indeed, but most printers you need to level the bed in order to set it up right

    Well, I’m looking for ender 3 V1 can we do that?
    Because when I try to auto home it after updating the firmware, I can hear the motors getting power, but then it says, “Homing failed, PRINTER HALTED, Please Reset.” And I’ve reset it multiple times, and it said the same thing, what can I do?

      Hello Tyler Moses, can it be that something wasn't installed correctly? Check the wires and see if there is something wrong

      Then maybe checking if there is some mixing for the wires, if the issues wasn't solved already

    Why would you show how to wire the bltouch stj connectors and then say they were wired improperly. I spent nearly all afternoon trying to work along and wire the way you showed during the first half of the video only to have to rip the connector out and rewire it. It might have been a better idea to let the viewers know ahead of time so we would only have to wire once.

      Hello Dov Feder, I fully understand your frustration about the switching of the wires. On the controller board side, the wires were correct, but on the BL-touch side were not correct. In the shown diagram at 3:43, you can see that the BL-touch side has the right colors on each place, but at 6:43 you can see that Creality's wires were wrong-crimped.
      I used an SKR mini E3 V2 board on my printer, but it can happen that Creality has another diagram/color matching.
      Sorry if I didn't mention it

      @@Zachary3DPrints Is there any chance I can get a photo showing the proper wiring sequence using a stj 5 pin connector? I am installing my bltouch on an ender 3 pro with the skr mini e3 v3 board. I would very much appreciate seeing the connector with the proper sequence of wires. Thanks. By the way - I need my son to tell me the color of the wires - I'm totally color blind. Thanks - Dov

    Hi Zachery, it sounds like you are based in NL? I could use some help fixing my ender 3 pro issues. Using a creality 4.2.7 silent board en also creality bltouch and it is giving me non stop issues. Basically creality bltouch setup without changes to wiring will make my MB smoke. The MB has a dedicated port for bltouch but I cant use it with the main board. It has been a while since I worked on it but remembered I had to switch the wires and put it in the connector of the original zstop. However the creality firmware without adapter version doesn’t recognizes this. Got it to work with custom Marlin firmware but having horrible prints ever since. Bed leveling issues, what seems like under extrusion issues etc. My first creality dogg print without any changes to the stock printer is still the best (but most noisy) print I have ever made. I am willing to pay you to fix my printer issues so I can have fun in printing again instead of getting headeacs from it. If you are in NL, are you willing to take a look at it?
    EDIT: actually cutt of the parts from the red connector so I could put it in the right spot and at least now stock creality fm is taking the bltouch so thanks for that! Still having horrible prints and creality doesn't allow me to do the z-offset in smaller increments so need to restart bed leveling from scratch, but it looks like I might be getting somewhere. Still some under extrusion problems but maybe I should try to clean the nozzle first after so many bad printing attempts.

    Hey so I installed my bl touch on to BTT SKR mini e3 v2.0 however when I try to do anything with the bl touch it doesn’t work, for example when I hit deploy it doesn’t or when I click auto home it doesn’t even go to the center of the bed and test but when I turn it on it goes up and down so I know that the pin isn’t stuck I’m just confused any help would be greatly appreciated

    • @Zachary3DPrints
      @Zachary3DPrints  Рік тому

      It should work with the standard firmware from BTT. Does the Bl-touch lid up when switching on the printer? Do you get any clicking sounds?

    You should really warn that you had wiring issues before explaining the completely wrong way for 10 minutes. Thank you for putting this video out but come one at least start the video off with a disclaimer on how you need to change things before even starting

    • @Zachary3DPrints
      @Zachary3DPrints  2 роки тому

      I’m going to shorten the video and take a lot of parts out. I have bought the Creality kit with their wires, if people are buying the other kit were the wires are right, then people are going to switch the right order. But I’ll see how to solve this.
