- Het is een goed bewaard geheim dat niet Anouk, Ilse DeLange of Caro Emerald de meest succesvolle Nederlandse zangeressen zijn in het buitenland. Die eer komt Floor Jansen toe. Onlangs is ze ook al onderscheiden met een BUMA export award. Als frontvrouw van de Finse metalband Nightwish gaat ze de hele wereld over. Maar in Nederland kennen we haar niet.
best mevrouw van der Linde.... ze is wereld beroemd en in nederland ook, alleen enkele zogenaamde DJ's op de radio draaien Nightwish niet omwille van het volk dat alleen maar voorgekauwde muziek en ander soort rommel wil....
Floor Jansen......de vrouw met de meest mooie stem die ik ooooiiittt heb gehoord......machtig mooi.!!!
Wordt NL eindelijk wakker? Er is zoooveel fantastische muziek en talent hier dat nauwelijks een kans krijgt ! Floor verdient een lintje, top wijf!
Een hele erge late reactie, maar wat is Nightwish met Floor een waanzinnig goeie band, ik geniet echt elke keer weer als ik ze hoor!!!!
Dat Nederland Floor niet kent ligt ook aan de Nederlandse radio , een jaar geleden was ze te gast bij Stenders en werd er wat Nightwish gedraaid daarna is het weer stil geworden . Bij de volgende top 2000 kies ik alleen nog maar Nightwish muziek en als alle Nederlandse fans dat doen komt het vast goed .

Well in its specific genre there are not many bands that compare. And i think a good case can be made for it to be one of the most general known bands.

Its weird, cause Within Temptation is one of the biggest export acts from the Netherlands..at the same level with the Dutch Dj's.

I don't understand anything, but, like many said, I enjoy watching her smile, listening to her laugh, she explodes in charisma, she looks happy, emotional, nothing like some kind of diva. If she's what she shows in interviews and concerts, like a kind soul, a good person, she could be somehow near to the perfect woman... I think.

Heb inmiddels 5 albums van Nightwish. Human:||:Nature is een meesterwerk. Maar ook Wishmaster, Once en Imaginarium zijn geweldig.
Ik dacht ook altijd dat metal totaal niet mijn ding was, maar zoals Floor zegt zijn er veel subgenres en de symphonische metal is zo mooi. Tuomas is een van de grootste componisten van de moderne tijd.

Op metal is al zolang een boycot op de radio. De kudde schapen luisteren liever palingpop. En dat soort muziek word je via de radio zenders de kop in geprent. Maar echte muziek liefhebbers weten hun kanalen wel te vinden. Maar meer erkenning zou wel heel erg terecht zijn. Ben trots op onze Floor!!

There are a lot of dutch singers and bands - in metal and famous: Simone Simonis/Epica, Anneke van Giersbergen/The Gathering, Sharon Den Adel/Within Temptation, Arjen Lucassen and a lot of dutch musician... you can find them in the project of Arjen Lucassens Ayreon. There you can find a lot of more, but not only dutch artists ;-)

Mee eens! Ik denk dat, dat de reden is. Metal heeft een soort stigma en er zitten wat vooroordelen in. Maar als men de KANS krijgt om de sub-stylen te horen en dan kijken of men het iets vindt, wordt het stigma minder en wordt het wel of niet gekozen gebaseerd op het feit dat het wel of niet iets voor jou is. Ik ben nog heel nieuw in de Nightwish wereld (litterly like a week old xD). Ik rolde naar Within Temptation toen ik een tiener was door een vriendin van mij die mij voorstelde aan deze band en ik ben er dol op. Nu een aantal jaren later wil ik wat meer gaan uitdijen naar Nightwish, Epica en Evanescence, kijkend welke band(s) mijn smaak hebben/welke liedjes of typen liedjes mijn smaak hebben. Ik persoonlijk ben inderdaad niet zo van het brullen en schreeuwen (sorry als ik verkeerde termen noem!) maar wel helemaal verliefd op de meer symfonische/opera typen liedjes (Ghost Love Score bv). Ik vind het PRACHTIG en de passie en talent wat er in deze genres is

I have lived in the Netherlands for the past 16 years and Floor is pretty much my idea of dutch music. I don't care for their mainstream.
Deze muziek wordt meestal bestempeld als niet "veilig" genoeg. In de jaren 80 van de vorige eeuw, toen metal wereldwijd opkwam, droeg ook Nederland daar een steen aan bij. In 1984 speelde bijvoorbeeld Metallica als support act(!) samen met Venom en Twisted Sister (ook beide legendarische bands) in Zwolle voor 7000 man/vrouw. Jammer genoeg is er met de opkomst van electronische muziek daar heel veel van verloren gegaan, we hadden ooit een vrij solide metal festival in de vorm van Dynamo Open Air in dit land, gelukkig zijn initiatieven zoals Fortarock toch weer een zetje in de goede richting. Tegenwoordig wordt de Nederlandse muziekscene aangevoerd door voornamelijk veel eenheidsworst, en dat mag best wat gemeleerder, ook al is muziek altijd persoonlijk. Leuk om te zien dat het nu toch wat aandacht krijgt in de pers.
Dit is absoluut waar wat jy se.
Ek stem saam. Ongelukkig hier in Suid Afrika het ons ook glad nie n 'metal scene'. My eerste keer wat ek van Floor gehoor het, was met haar vorige orkes After Forever.
Ik kan het niet mooier verwoorden dan hou jij het hier beschreven hebt, lekker met zn alle naar Nightwish blijven luisteren

The premise of the interview is actually that in the Netherlands, Floor Jansen isn't famous at all. Nightwish (and metal music in general) aren't played on Dutch radio stations and isn't actively promoted here. While Floor agrees that metal should stay a bit underground and liked being in it's own niche, it's still a shame that many people who may like the music will have a hard time getting acquainted with it because of that. However, Floor did get an award at Fortarock festival 2018 so she was happy with the recognition. I was there and the Nightwish performance later that evening was very good. Those in the Netherlands who do listen to metal and know Floor are very proud of her.

Mooie vrouw, super stem.. live is vaak nog beter dan studio, after forever ken ik via mijn zus. Nightwish kwam daarna natuurlijk maar sinds Nederland zingt weer vaker opstaan. Top band.
Tuurlijk, ik hou persoonlijk van symfonische metal, de stem van Floor is dan een prachtige sopraan. 👏Erg indrukwekkend hoor.💪👍🙂😉

Ik ben met de muziek van Floor in aanraking gekomen door Ayreon/Star One. In 2000 zong ze voor het eerst mee op het Ayreon album The Dream Sequencer en daarna is ze gevraagd door Arjen voor Star One in 2002. Een klasgenoot op de middelbare school (1 van mijn beste vrienden) luisterde naar deze muziek en liet mij dit toen horen. Ik was niet meteen verkocht maar naarmate ik er meer naar luisterde realiseerde ik me steeds meer dat dit gewoon geniale muziek is. Vanzelf kwam ik terecht bij After Forever en daarna ReVamp. Door Ayreon heb ik nog vele andere artiesten/bands leren kennen die stuk voor stuk het luisteren waard zijn. Ondertussen heeft Floor op 3 Ayreon en 2 Star One studioalbums gezongen en heb ik haar live mogen zien tijdens de Ayreon concerten in Tilburg samen met haar zuster Irene (ook een topzangeres). Om een lang verhaal kort te maken, ik volg Floor al best een tijdje en voor mij is ze dus totaal geen goed bewaard geheim :).
Je zou haar eigenlijk live moeten zien bij AF / ReVamp.... zo goed en een enorm stembereik. Ik heb haar ook al 2x gezien met Nightwish en ga in November weer --> Ook super, maar ik heb altijd het idee (weet eigenlijk zeker) dat Floor veel meer kan dan bij nightwish nodig is. i.m.o. DE beste live-zangeres.....
After Forever ben ik helaas nooit naartoe geweest. ReVamp heb ik wel meerdere malen live mogen zien :). Beide zijn helaas niet meer mogelijk tenzij er misschien ooit nog een keer iets van een reünie concert of iets dergelijks komt. Ik zie het zo snel niet gebeuren want Floor heeft het druk genoeg met Nightwish. Floor is zeker in staat tot meer dan ze nu bij Nightwish laat zien (kijk alleen maar naar wat ze heeft gedaan in After Forever, ReVamp, Star One en Ayreon) maar wordt nu beperkt tot datgene wat Tuomas haar voorschotelt. Is overigens niet negatief bedoeld. Laten we eerlijk zijn, Tuomas is geniaal en de muziek die wordt geproduceerd door Nightwish is fanatastisch. Het punt is dat Floor nu in ieder geval niet met de scepter zwaait zoals dat wel het geval was in ReVamp.
Ayreon is toch eigenlijk net zoiets. Moet je kijken wat die man heeft gemaakt! Speelt bijna alle instrumenten, schrijft alle nummers; wereldsterren/zangers die zingen op zijn muziek. En geen hond die 'm kent in Nederland. En waar focussen ze dan op in NL: op zo'n zak hooi als lil' kleine bijvoorbeeld. Wel meerdere radiostations waar ze alleen maar Nederlandse bagger (mijn mening) draaien, zoals 100%NL en RadioNL, maar geen enkele fatsoenlijke rock/metal zender.
Dat er anno 2019 nog steeds amper metal voorbij komt op de radio is knap treurig. Ik ben meer van The Gathering. Mandylion uit 1995 (!) mogen ze ieder uur wel integraal laten horen.
Alright let's be honest, I'm Dutch and I live in the Netherlands. But I'm gonna keep this English. Several people already said, "Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) Simone Simons (Epica) And of course Floor Jansen (Nightwish)" These are the women of metal. Of course, there are several others that are beyond good and belong into the top of the list but these girls are Dutch, now the fact that they are less known as "Stars" is because of the cultural atmosphere. Dutch media always love to keep stuff as general as humanly possible. Focus on Metal, and you miss all others that don't like metal, focus too much on one specific genre and view numbers might drop... and of course, let's not forget the fact that they said in this video the judgemental views of what metal is perceived as. These are the reasons why "as Floor said" several genres aren't even touched by media outlets. Not because they aren't popular, but because they won't risk having an average article but demand subjects that they know will reach most likes and peoples opinions. And as a Dutch metal lover, I say this to all those that are in the media and have a responsibility to actually give us everything the music industry has to offer:
English: "Get your ass out of the likes and view ratio, and just spread the news and grand achievements of all music industry genres. Not just those that you think gives you most view and like potential."
Dutch: "Hou op met je bezig houden met de like en kijk gemiddelde, en zorg gewoon dat je al het nieuws en grote evenementen uit de gehele muziek industrie inclusief alle soorten muziek mee neemt in je verhalen. En niet slechts de artikels met de grootste kijkers waar je zeker van weet dat het een groot verhaal word waar veel likes op komen."
PS: Regardless of country origin there are so many wonderful bands out there that create beautiful music. Love and respect to all that enjoy these bands and share their love for it. Peace.

@@BG-hp6mu Almost everyone that listens to metal here in the Netherlands will know about Anneke (and probably seen her live). Outside of the metal scene, I'm not quite sure. I do remember that the Mandylion album by The Gathering was quite popular back in the day and had a good position in the Dutch album charts. But that's already a while ago :)
Er zijn zoveel Nederlandse metalbands (bv: Delain, Within Temptation, Epica, Nightwish (Floor) ) die bekender in het buitenland zijn dan in eigen land, zo zonde...

In de jaren 80 van de vorige eeuw , kon je nog luisteren naar vara' s vuurwerk ( een wekelijks uurtje hardrock en heavy metal op de radio ) met Henk Westbroek ( het goede doel ) .
Als je nu je radio aanzet schrik je toch wel van al die éénheidsworsten muziek , en dat maakt niet uit welk radiostation je aanzet , het is in mijn ogen / oren allemaal bagger .Maarja je werkt voor een baas en daar staat de radio aan , en daar moet je het mee doen ( Q music , radio 538 , slam fm , 3 fm enz )
Maar het Floor gegund en terecht hoor , wat een stem heeft die meid .

Nightwishan Weet ii niet Nee ik ben er volgend jaar niet bij. Ik was er wel vorig jaar november in Ziggo Dome. Niet eens uitverkocht toen.
@@nightwishanweetiiniet299 Anette was een slechte keus van Nightwish. Zij kon niet de hoge noten halen die Tarja (de eerste zangeres) en Floor wel kunnen. Zodoende worden een aantal van hun nummer zwaar verkloot. Ik heb ze in de HMH gezien. Was wel mooi maar Anette paste er gewoon niet bij. Vorig jaar ben ik in Ziggodome geweest en volgend jaar weer. Top show. Ik kende Floor al in de tijd van After Forever en Revamp.

Voor een land dat smult van Jantje Smit en Ali B. is deze muziek veel te zwaar verteerbaar. Nightwish is in het buitenland ook vele malen groter dan in eigen land. Ik volg Nightwish als grote fan al vanaf het redelijk prille begin en hoewel ik Tarja Turunen nog steeds de nummer één vind (omdat ze sopraan is en dat hoort voor mijn gevoel onlosmakelijk bij hun (vroegere) repertoire), ben ik er plaatsvervangend trots op dat ze nu een Nederlandse frontvrouw hebben. Floor is top.

As a native Swedish speaker I actually understood a big part of the interview even without subtitles(!). Dutch is quite similar to the Scandinavian languages if you listen carefully 🙂
