this was celine dion's show.. at the backstage showcase, dion ASKED destinys child to go all out and not hold back. Celine throughout her career was never afraid to hold back. I would also suggest the second half because they did another song togeather after this called "when the wrong one loves you right"

I remember this performance at the time. Celine was so gracious in sharing the stage and giving Destiny's Child the room to shine. Celine is a true Destiny's Child and Beyoncé fan. As a Montreal native, I was so excited to watch them perform together.

Celine dion is always so down to earth she let them shine in her concert cus its kinda like promoting them otherwise celine is a beast she can eat all of em together vocally if she wants she is a part of vocal trinity for a reason but sis holding back and letting them girlies shine. ❤
And she was only 20 here. Beyonce’s vocals are so underrated it’s insane how she’s able to hit a high soprano note and can also hit low notes like a full mezzo with power and the control she has over her voice , her beautiful riffs/runs and melisma, she literally has the best technique in the game.
She really taught me how to sing without knowing it and I’m pretty sure a lot of people feel that same way too and I’m so glad that no matter how sexy you find this woman😂 you never miss to highlight her talent ❤ that’s why I’m always excited and enjoy your videos thank you

Some people says that she was over singing but NO. This is exactly how the song Emotion goes and was arranged and they did rehearsed it.

Kelly does sing a few seconds more on the studio version of this song. It looks like they chopped her verse in half and gave her other part to Celine since she was performing with them. They basically shared Kelly's verse.

Beyoncé also took Kelly's verses in the start, and then Michelle took some of Kelly's parts as well, Kelly sings *way* more in the original. I'll never understand why they chose to distribute the lines like that.

@@sese667 I know. I'm talking about this song specifically. Celine took Kelly's 2nd line, Beyonce took her 2nd verse and Michelle took her post chorus verse - which feels weird because Kelly ended up singing just one line.

I have a vague memory of Kelly being sick here, which is why her solo was likely cut short & Beyonce had to compensate. Funny enough, the opposite happened in their Live in Rotterdam concert. Beyonce was sick there and so Kelly had to take the ending adlib/high note that Beyonce does here and on the record.

Beyonce's runs are exaggerated and unnatural. The song itself is quite a musical artistry and does not need to be sung with too much unnecessary runs and riffs.
