"I didn't think I was gonna make it past 25. I didn't have any plans past 25 because I never thought I would make it to 25. And then I made it to 25 and then, you know, more years started going and I was like, "Oh, I better figure out what I REALLY wanna do for the rest of my life" because I didn't think I would make it this far. I didn't think I would be alive this far. But I'm sure a lot of people feel that way. I wasn't doing anything really dangerous. I just didn't think... I just didn't think... Then you come out the other side, you come out the other side of that." -Gerard Way at House of Blues San Diego 10/24/15
And now that you're pointing at it, that specific quote gives me some "Disenchated" vibe. About Gerard feeling like shit all depressed and melancholic while everybody is cheering and screaming for him to sing about his deathwishes and stuff.
I loved MCR, and till now I wasn't enough brave to listen the new songs. BUT: The thing what makes Gerard's music great, is that he is making real music - lyrics with meaning. It's so rare nowadays and everyone should make music like this and keep the meaning of MUSIC alive. :)
Songs like this make me so happy music is a part of humanity and life. Music is so amazing, I don't even have the words to tell you how much I appreciate it.
I wish his album was appreciated more, that it had more exposure. It really is an amazing record even though this is not my usual type of music and it did take me a second listen to catch my ear. Gerard is a true artist
I could definitely see this being used in a movie starting about a minute in. Somebody would be running towards something, the climax of a movie basically. Running to go be with a wife, girlfriend, ect. before they go on and leave forever or something like that.
A lot of the time when I listen to a song I like, I like to come up with a little story to go along with it and I dunno, I thought I might share. Whenever I hear this song, I like to think of a short little nerdy girl who looks way younger than she is living in some small apartment in the big city and her life is boring and it feels like everyone in the world is against her. But she's got this group of friends and they all meet up in her apartment every week and gather around her dinner table and just play Dungeons and Dragons and eat way too much snack food and goof around until they're too tired to think straight. So she's got her one life where she feels tiny and scared and worthless and another where she's the hero and there's magic and it's actually possible the truly save the day. Interpret it how you like, but that's the story that makes me happy.
This song is amazing, I really like the lyric about living past 25. It reminds me of my brother, he's getting older but he still doesn't have his life figured out at all and I worry about him a lot. I want to lend him the Hesitant Alien CD sometime, I think he's really like it. He and Gee are both artists, and they both have that really genuine, loving vibe to them. This is why I love Gerard's music, it has the potential to change so many lives and gives people so so much hope. ❤️
This song makes me incredibily happy. Gerard is not just a singer or a musician, he's an artist. THIS (and some MCR's songs) put me into such deep cathartic ecstasy I just have no words to describe it.
I listened to the whole album and even though it's not particularly my style, I fell in love with "Millions" and "How it's going to be"... Gerard's voice never fails to make me smile :)
no it better than Disney land its like a world where everything is perfect and music is your God it's Just so ferken perfect I just want to flip a table over and then flip it back so I can dance on it
this has to be my fave song off of hesitant alien, i want to write "wishing wells and magic spells and everything between, can you tell me what its like or how its going to be?" on every surface in my house xD
It sounds like Styx crossed with ELO crossed with pure catharsis... I almost can't believe that it's my favorite song on the album, and I love the whole album.
Nick Pannell You're right. There's a touch of Supertramp in it too. But seriously, go listen to Grand Illusion-Era Styx or ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky" and try not to hear the commonalities (the ending of "Mr. Blue Sky" in particular resonates). Truth be told, there's traces of Styx throughout Gerard's work, both solo and MCR (the "Come Sail Away" / "Welcome to the Black Parade" parallel being the most obvious).
So happy Gerard continued in music, I love this album and though I haven't explored the other MCR members careers I feel and hope they're doing great things too!
Either its just a coincidence and I'm going crazy or its there for a reason, but he mentioned smoke rings.Doesn't Frank Iero have a song called Smoke Rings???
*listens to the song* Me: WELL ARE YOU READY RAY *fakes a high voice* yEAH How bout you Frank? *drunk sound* Aw I'm there baby~ How bout you Moikey!? *toaster* FUHKIN READY
"i wouldn't lie i never really wanted more than what i needed after all, someone that hates to see me go" well you got it gee. many people who would hate to see you go.
I'm positive now that this is my favorite song that Gerard ever created. It sounds like such a battle cry. When it's a message of surrender, not necessarily giving up, but knowing that this is the end of a long fight. We fought the world with hands twice-tied The people cheered, the captain cried I'll keep the souvenir inside It's just better in my mind And don't get me started on "we're just bored you're still alive"
I just found a connection in Gerard saying "And you said we'd all be dead by twenty-five", and the fact the Bullets was realized in 2002, when Gee was 25
I absolutely love this new album, but the one thing I dont like about is that I can't solely concentrate on Gerard's voice. That's why, for example, my favorite MCR was always bulletproof heart, because of how raw and perfect his voice sounds. I just sort of like his voice basically.
It always makes me wonder; who said they would be dead by 25? It makes me sad as well. And happy that they (if I'm correct in that meaning) are all alive and well.
But after this album He is not going to make music anymore ? beacuse i' ve seen that recently he is more near to his comics, and It's been actually two years .-.
Actually he talked about new music in two tweets around May 1 "@.seamusrabbit this Fall i begin writing music again" This was in reply to someone asking about music plans 2 "@.GennySwan yup! No plans of release but there are plans of writing" also in reply about someone asking about music So we should be hearing some new music from Gerard in little while or so
+Federica De Santis Actually in a recent interview at Comic Con Gerard revealed his new album and its name but its going to be ( the interview) in the black parade magazine issue i think
The lyrics on the first page are really dark: "In paper armour that you'd mind" - being bound in armour against your will. "They'll hold the match to you this time and watch the smoke rings fit the crime" - they will burn the paper armour that your wearing, and watch the rising smoke that's just like your murder; black and horrible

Everyone's saying this song makes them so happy.. It makes me feel sad. Like not that it creates sadness, but that it understands it
Finally someone who feels the same about this
Yes. Well said.

This song feels tragic. I want to laugh and cry at the same time.
It gives me a nostalgic feel tbh
And now that you're pointing at it, that specific quote gives me some "Disenchated" vibe. About Gerard feeling like shit all depressed and melancholic while everybody is cheering and screaming for him to sing about his deathwishes and stuff.
KissMeDead Wow, that is super deep. I thought that was what he was referring to in "Disenchanted," but I wasn't entirely sure
I have never heard Gerard Way this high in vocals before...!!! I'm impressed c;
you really need to listen to sleep from MCR. I'm not saying it's not high but sleep has an intense moment
Ik like boy has this beautiful falsetto he’s just been holding out on us
This song is the reason of the existence of the word ''Epicness''
I loved MCR, and till now I wasn't enough brave to listen the new songs. BUT: The thing what makes Gerard's music great, is that he is making real music - lyrics with meaning. It's so rare nowadays and everyone should make music like this and keep the meaning of MUSIC alive. :)

This entire album has a nostalgic vibe and it makes me sad, it also means that I relate half the lyrics to mcr which makes me even sadder.
Love every song on the album, can't choose a favourite!
I listened to the whole album and even though it's not particularly my style, I fell in love with "Millions" and "How it's going to be"... Gerard's voice never fails to make me smile :)

This song makes me feel so happy! I don't even know why, it just makes me feel all good inside!
Anyone else feel like he might be talking to the other ex-band members?
Alex of the MCRmy Of course you would hear that in this song. Of course.
Climbing Chimes Hehe
...Why?
You think everything is about them getting back together! XD
Can you blame me? But really I thought he might have been referring to when they were a band in the lyrics or something.
My favorite song on this album.
I get very happy when listening to this song, but it is very sad. That is the beauty.
This song never gets old
the last strains of this song always make me cry. it is really beautiful.
