- This video shows how to set up the CutKit™1 along with a Vevor faceting machine to start cutting gems for under $500. This is probably the most affordable way to get in to gem faceting! For more information visit Facet.ing

Received my Faceting Machine and CutKit yesterday and set it up this morning, I did have a burr on the 45 degree table adapter but otherwise everything went together smoothly! Can't wait to get started working on gemstones thank you so much for putting these together!
Edit:
Also I was able to shim out the slight angle of the table by laying about 3 layers of packing tape where the mast sits on the side that it touched the lap
The Vevor machine with the vertical control panel is unfortunately not available in Germany. I will take another look at the CutKit1 when or if it is available.
Btw you might want to make the link to the product page in the description more visible. I didn't even see it until I checked a 3rd time and at this point I just googled.
Thank you for making this! I always wanted to get into faceting and really anything to do with all things sparkly since I was very young. Never thought it would be possible to make this dream a reality 🎉
I came here from Dan Hurd's Jade vid and am happy to subscribe to your fascinating channel.
My inner Dragon is drooling at your unique Treasures! ❤😂
Thank you for posting all the fixes. After seeing this, my opinion has changed. I would purchase this and the additional items as well.
I subbed because i found this video and i own this machine now.
Paper towels and 2 buckets is how my parents met
this comment is so underrated
The mast alone is worth it! The only way I was able to do girdles was by stacking two 6” x 1/4” plexi discs and two laps on top of that. Then I have to use a stainless pipe clamp in place of the split nuts to lower the bar further. This method raises the cutting lap above the water pan so I bent up a metal hanger to pin some long ziplock bags to catch the water off the lap. And it worked.. but what a pain.
This looks great! Can't wait!!
Awesome way to help reduce the barriers to getting started with faceting.
Thanks Patrick! Your video was essential for all of this.
Cool video

Hey do you know how can i get this im FR and vevor dont deliver this machine 😢, on the otherside do you delivery the kit in FR ?
Im verry interested in this 😊 i hope you can find an issue bcs i didnt 🫥
Does this fit the same big model with the different inventer box but otherwise same looking?
It fits, but that model has a few extra issues (particularly a very blunt angle pointer and a protractor layout that make it very hard to tell what angle you're at). It's still improved over the similar generic models with the horizontal controller though.
Couldn’t you shim the spindle plate to level the lap?
I agree getting it perfectly level would not be too hard. In the future I do plan to test some methods and put out a guide on it--the base kit is just meant to be enough to get started without having to do anything too technical but I think the machines can be taken further
Please, where can I get the custom cut kit mast that you showcase at around 2:26?
It's available on our webstore at store.turtleshoard.com
I found my 45° table cutting adapter seems to be slipping. how can i remedy this?
Slipping in which direction? If it's wanting to twist left or right, aside from torquing the collet harder it can help to hold the stone directly to minimize the lever action.
what is the mast in your kit made out of? Plastic? metal? I'm interested in purchasing it, I just want to make sure its plenty sturdy.
It is made of aluminum. It is sturdy, not quite as rigid as the original but rigid enough to not really add to the general flex of the machine.
@@AngryTurtleGems well, thats great to hear. We appreciate you actually taking the time to put together a kit for this machine. There's a lot of people who want a cheaper faceting machine that actually functions. The vevor machine has been up in talks for a while and seems to be the only way for beginners to dip there toes in without spending thousands. you are the best!
Hey i need just the cut kit lol .. do you ship to Australia
We do!
WOW WOW I caught up with the same problems and I had no idea what to do with them and thanks sharing the clip.
Is there a different machine this can be mounted to? the vevor machine aren't available in AUS
It might fit the similar generics from China but I am not 100% sure and they have a couple of other issues.
They do have them up on aliexpress so you might be able to order that way
they sure are ... i have an account with them and are available on ebay
Is it possible to make the kit work with the VEVOR machine model with the horizontal panel (0:22)? What are the differences between these two models? Ive checked every website and none of them is having the delivery of this model (with vertical panel) to Poland 😭
The kit will work with the older model, but it has some issues that are harder to fix. Probably the worst are the protractor (angle ticks on the bottom where they can't line up with the angle indicator) and the angle indicator (so blunt you can't actually set any particular angle).
This might sound stupid, but can't you buy a replacement part from the newer model and use it for the older model? @AngryTurtleGems
@fonskeflup4813 you totally could, but Vevor doesn't offer parts off the shelf. As far as I can tell they are the only company selling this exact model with the fixes--the similar looking generics are clearly closely related and have parts compatibility, but they're different too and at least some parts like the index gear appear to have been made in a different factory entirely.
I bought this machine and was able to cut stones with this machine.. the major issue is the cutting the griddle in 90 degree.. I like to buy the modified mast stand and screws .. please let me know how to reach you. Thank you!
Hello! We do also sell the cutkit mast as a standalone, you can see the listing on our website at TurtlesHoard.com, or all information is on www.facet.ing
Thank you for making this effort. This is very helpful!!
I am placing an order for the mast .. quick question.. what is Knutled Brass Lap nut?
@pfgemsandjewelry the machine comes with a plain hex nut to hold laps down. It's not very comfortable to use so we had some custom brass knobs/nuts machined to replace them. Not necessary but awfully nice. I cut a few stones with the base kit but from now on I'm using the upgraded nut.
I just placed an order.. I need the cheater Thumbnut!! I have sent you an email.. Thanks!
Is the cut kit ready today?
Yes, you can get it on our website!
That is exactly what I was talking about and thanks for the reply.
So, where do I get all these extras from?
We have the kit up for sale on our webstore at TurtlesHoard.com or our landing page at www.facet.ing
Or a direct link store.turtleshoard.com/products/cutkit1-faceting-kit-faceting-for-under-500-dollars-all-in
@@AngryTurtleGems The video is not for cutkit1 is it? Because I see the hex nut that I wanted to be included and I think it is included in the upgraded kit. Am I right?
@@sinceresincere-th4dt the video is for the cutkit1 and doesn't include the optional upgrades. Which nut were you looking for?
@@AngryTurtleGems My friend let me explain what happened after purchasing the Vevor machine. After assembling, I tried to cut or just to learn the ways of the faceting, then I realized my stone is not steady. I am machinist by trade, so I would know what is going on. The back hex nut attached to the indexing finger and indexer was not tight. When I tried to tighten it, it was just turning around and around and I realized it is not even the right size pitch or the right size for the bolt and it was sliding back and forth on the bolt. So it destroyed my stone. I realized the 90 degrees is not actually 90 and I should bring little bit more towards the 80 and put a lever on the top of the arm and make it 90. As you yourself have mentioned in the video, the arm does not go lower to be able to cut so I took the brass adjusters out and realized it is too low, therefore I ordered an other aluminum disk to raise the rotor . Anyway the whole thing is garbage. Now! if I buy the 292 dollar one, then I will be missing the hex nut, but if I buy the upgraded one, then I will miss the rest, so the only solution is to buy the whole both kits and it is like I better buy and new other one like sterling.
