    Actually, dehydration can cause increased creatinine levels because the serum creatinine concentration will be relatively higher. Think of like a very concentrated Koolaid, if there is not enough water, the mixture is very thick and there is more concentrated Koolaid relative to the water. Overhydration can lead to decreased creatinine levels as this causes hemodilution. Other wise great videos!!

    Thank you for your video. Regarding taking the 24 hours urine, do you mean starting the clock say from 8.00 am to to next day 8.00 am (24 hours)? Meanwhile during this 24 hours, you need to fast except of course drinking just plain water to have urine. And what about blood serum don't you have to take it as well?

    • @NursingSOS
      @NursingSOS  3 роки тому

      John Goh, great question. For the 24 hour urine, collect every void for a full 24 hours. So if you patient voided at 8am you would start your clock at 8am and would collect every void until 8am the next morning. Your patient can eat and drink normally during that time frame. For any bloodwork the healthcare provider would order specifically what they wanted to monitor. Hope this helped to clarify it for you. Have a fantastic day! :)

    Which powder is mixes with the 24 hrs collected urine?

    • @NursingSOS
      @NursingSOS  3 роки тому +1

      sharon jose, to be totally honest, we don't know that answer! It would probably be best to ask one of your instructors, and if they don't know then possibly someone who works in a lab would be able to answer that. :) Thank you for being here!

    What if someone who eat less of protein? Like only 40-60gr per day..
    The level creatinine clearance will go down but it indicated of kidney deseas??
    And how about the man who eat a lot of meat...the result is high creatinine clearance but its not actually kidney condition...
    I mind the result can be manipulated by eating??
