Fantastic performance that day. What a team we had then whilst Celtic were going through a turbulent spell. Players like Bett, Connor, McKimmie etc are just too hard to find or produce
I was at this game . Aberdeen , managed by Alex Smith , had a talented Dutch winger , Hans Gilhaus , who had a terrific match this day . Charlie Nicholas had just rejoined Celtic after helping Aberdeen defeat the Parkhead side in the Scottish Cup final after penalties the previous season , but he was a shadow of the player he once was. . Aberdeen were so much better than Celtic this day and should have won by more .
When football was affordable, grounds were packed, games were filled with passion, players were motivated by playing a sport they love. Makes a mockery of the shite we watch these days.
You're glorifying the past. I was there. Season ticket at Pittodrie from 1981-1992 before leaving the UK for pastures new. Pittodrie was seldom packed. I'd say the norm was 12-13,000 against run of the mill sides. The ground would get near full for games against the Old Firm. And for big European games. But they just couldn't be bothered turning out in numbers for the SPL fodder. A decent crowd was had for games against Dundee Utd back then too but that game was usually nearer 17,000 (mainly due to Utd's poor away support leaving 2/3rds of the Beach End empty!). But anyway, grounds weren't packed. Old Firm grounds were often packed so maybe that's all you're focusing on but the rest of the Scottish teams were probably worse supported then than they are now.
At that time the Dons were winning very little domestically and I remember that the supporters were quite frustrated, albeit that they were getting to a cup final or two here and there. Then they went on a real slump for many years till DM came to the fore ... Long may this Renaissance continue!

Connors star jump is one of the best i've seen
