This is exact same that happened with the dedede theme. The key changed and it sounded less high stakes later on in the series. Of course I think the Super Star version is fire but the original sounded so different.
I see where you're coming from, but I don't think that aesthetic really fits the Velvet Room. To me (who should say upfront he isn't familiar with the franchise as a whole), the Velvet Room feels almost like a safe haven to escape the chaos of the outside world. A slower, more calm track is more fitting for that aesthetic.
This song really brings me back to the early PS1 days, the days of JRPGs before FFVII came out and not many people were playing them. I remember not really liking this game all that much, but it was so strange and different and was such a unique concept for a RPG that I just couldn't stop playing it anyway. This song, and the entire Velvet Room in fact, were one of the only things from Persona 1 that never faded from my memory. I can't remember anything about what happened in the story, but I remember the Velvet Room, the song, and Igor very well.
i prefer this version than the one at P3-P5. while the one at P3-P5 feels soothing (and it's accurate because Belladona was supposed to sing to calm souls), this one has feels more mystical
Nameless and Belladonna are actually still in the velvet room performing Aria of the Soul in every Persona game, they just aren't onscreen, but anyone in the velvet room actually hears the music in the velvet room it's not just a background track

i played this game when i was in elementary school. Ive always play RPG to learn English and delve into virtual world escaping my real ones. Persona is one of those ' harder ' RPG to play..... i dont really understand how the mechanism of the whole Velvet room summoning and the whole game itself is really interesting and new to me.... hence it was a love hate curious relationship between me and this game...
