It is alright for Luz to teach the Collector the concept of kindness. The problem is that it was told at the wrong time leading to them witnessing death the hard way because honestly - At a matter of fact, knowing the Collector stayed as a child due to being sealed for years, they weren't emotionally capable to endure the sight of Luz (temporarily) dying at that moment.
Maybe Luz should've thought of her words throughout more by adding more depth so the Collector could further understand before the big outcome happened? My thoughts exactly. I still felt emotional at that scene though, Belos is still evil and he always was after all. And then again, she didn't have time to tell more about it as Belos possessing the Titan was happening at the same time her and the gang were on the mountains.
