There was definitely a stretch of Sandler movies in the early 10’s where his movies were mainly just an excuse to go to a fancy location, and honestly, good for him.

I love that Sandler's dramatic roles are far and few in between. It feels really special when we get one and usually, it ends up being really good. Punch-Drunk Love, The Meyerowitz Stories and especially Uncut Gems which still stands as my favorite performance from him.
Uncut gems is perfect for him. He’s an underdog who can snap at any moment. He’s in a love affair with his mistress in which he presents some romantic comedy elements. Plus he’s a rich dad who is able to crack jokes at his surroundings. And then at the complexity and he can really go for it. Absolutely perfect casting

@@Gemnist98 ah okay. We are aware that the opinion that Adam Sandler is indeed capable of being a great actor and that this notion isn't exactly new? He has a tendency to pick roles that are just easy and require no effort on his part and just plain suck to be honest. He's still capable.
Honestly he surprised me in uncut gems because I’ve never seen him in a “serious” movie, it’s always comedic, I really wish he would have done more movies like uncut gems (drama) instead of his older movies that were mentioned in this video, I was always annoyed in movies where he did a baby voice or overly aggressive. Nonetheless, I think he’s a great actor, maybe just not in the best movies.
I freakin love that movie lol! Idk why Sandler never made more animated movies tho! Animation opens up so much more ridiculous shit to happen like in 8 Crazy Nights and can compliment Sandler's humor so we'll!
Sandler is so good when he's punching upwards. When he's coming from a disadvantage, he excels. It works if it's comedy or drama. We liked Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and Waterboy because his character was in a constant state of having to prove himself worthy to a world that's laughing at him. Hell that's how his stand-up comedy worked. His drama works when he has something about himself that he's fighting against, not just an enemy. Confident Sandler does not work. Insecure Sandler can be brilliant.
I don't think you should have just a soft spot for Click... That a fantastic movie that tugs at the old heart strings with his great acting and really makes you consider how you treat your family. Up there with his best.
Me too, I really wish @captainmidnight had mentioned it. The Cobbler is a really interesting and unique concept. It was one of the first serious roles I saw Sandler in and I wish it was better known
I will always have a soft spot for *Lil Nicky and 50 first dates.* ❤️ The later has been on my mind quite a bit recently, specifically the ending (when drew has to watch a “recent events in your life” video every morning-so she doesn’t go nuts)... I love many of his movies. Big Daddy, Anger Management, 50 First Dates and Don't Mess With The Zohan are my favorites. He has been in so many films, there's a lot that's not even mentioned here. I also love the thing how old ladies always have crushes on him, it's one of those Sandler things 🤣
Casa de Frank yea 😂😅 he came because I think his kids might being going there in a few years. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess haha (just hope they can make real friends, not just because of their dad)
You know, Idk if it's because I'm latina but I actually love Spanglish. I think is an amazing movie, tackling a subject so common in my life that often surprises me that people doesn't appreciate it more. And, of course, I love Sandler's role in it.
This man Adam Sandler literally hangs out with his friends at a resort for most of his movies while his wife is an absolute dime and honestly i’m happy for him
Adam Sandler was like my friend in college who became a coke and sex addict her freshman year bc she was bored and unchallenged before transferring to an Ivy and getting over her addictions. They have so much potential but yet here we are
I just watched Uncut Gems yesterday and I gotta say, it's definitely his best work in a long time. That ending was crazy too, I felt like I was in that situtation
I grew up watching Adam Sandler’s movies so I think I’m a bit biased but I loved all his movies. Maybe it’s nostalgia speaking but I thought he was really funny. My favorite is Anger Management!
My favourite films of his are: Punch Drunk Love, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Funny People, Big Daddy, The Waterboy But my favourite performance of him has to be as Howard from Uncut Gems- he was amazing in it!
Dont mess with zohan is one of the funniest movies i’ve ever. I watched it on netflix about 3 months ago and expected it to be shit but it was actually really entertaining because of how silly it is
Anger Management is one I always enjoyed. Yeah, it's a case of Sandler being the straight man, and admittedly I think Jack Nicholson ends up being the true star as the crazy but effective therapist, but after this video I realize it's also an interesting idea (at least on paper) to invert the Happy Gilmore type of character; this time Sandler's the seemingly normal guy surrounded by people with explosive rage, and he has to find the healthy middle ground between how they act and his own repressed and equally unhealthy response to problems.
Grownups 1 had a little bit of a nostalgia hit for me because of its shooting locations with Woodmans and at Centennial Grove. Spent a few summers at that dinky little clay filled beach just down the hill from that basketball court, which wasn't there when I lived in Essex. I will say though that that friggin 1920's fire engine has been in every single town parade that I remember.

Bedtime stories is on of my favorites I know it is cringey but it’s so nostalgic
Always loved Adam. Reminds me of my own dad and a lot of others. His movies may not be the best but these movies always hold a special place in my heart.
Karsten Runquist: "Adam Sandler is a good actor"
Captain Midnight: hocus pocus, that's mine
Who's Karsten Runquist?
Zane Another UA-camr.
@@Gemnist98 ah okay. We are aware that the opinion that Adam Sandler is indeed capable of being a great actor and that this notion isn't exactly new? He has a tendency to pick roles that are just easy and require no effort on his part and just plain suck to be honest. He's still capable.
@@sindri1447 The joke is that Karsten already made a video about him being a good actor.
@@Gemnist98 so have a dozen other film critics/youtubers.
I think reign over me (another one of his serious roles) is great personally
Watch punch drunk love thats one of his best dramas
Everyone is forgetting Sandler’s real gem. His movie “8 crazy nights”
The animation genuinely looked amazing. I don't know how he got the guys from Iron Giant to do it, but that was a great call
Still think of the "poopsicle" joke every time my dog goes when it's snowing out.
Dude I love that movie
The song at the end was amazing
I freakin love that movie lol! Idk why Sandler never made more animated movies tho! Animation opens up so much more ridiculous shit to happen like in 8 Crazy Nights and can compliment Sandler's humor so we'll!
Can we all agree that You Don't Mess with the Zohan is his best movie... you know... its zohan...
Disco Disco
Billy Madison to this day is probably the movie I actively quote the most, "t-t-t-today junior"
Adam Sandler kicks ass. almost every actor/ actress that's been in his movies has been in them since the jump. that's realness in plain sight.
You didn’t even mention his greatest movie: That’s My Boy
that shit was trash... But I laughed doe. 🤣😭💀
Make your jokes, but I loved that movie.
Tom Sullivan I’m 100% serious that it’s my favorite Adam Sandler movie
Dont forget little nicky
Agreed! You don't even need to watch that movie to enjoy it, just listening to it will make you laugh nonstop. WAAAAAAZZZZUUUUUPPP!!
I don't think you should have just a soft spot for Click... That a fantastic movie that tugs at the old heart strings with his great acting and really makes you consider how you treat your family. Up there with his best.
Just watched uncut gems for the first time last night and wow. What an absolute masterpiece
Anyone else thought that picture +zoom at 7:02 has some GTA V loading screen vibes
Yes! Was looking for the comment here!
why doesn’t anyone talk about The Cobbler? decent movie with a pretty good Sandler performance
i was thinking this myself. it’s so good
I thought that movie was so weird lol. I definitely think about it positively but it's not one of my favorites
Sandler’s all right in it but it’s a terrible movie.
Not my type of film, the overly goofy reveal of a spy agency of cobblers at the end ruined any semblance of enjoyment i could get from it
I like the concept of the movie but I feel it could have been done better.
I really liked "The Cobbler" I feel like a lot of people missed that one
It’s so weird, but I enjoyed it. It’s just so like
Zany, then serious, and both of them at once.
Yeah
It’s a good movie not a lot of people talk about it
Me too, I really wish @captainmidnight had mentioned it. The Cobbler is a really interesting and unique concept. It was one of the first serious roles I saw Sandler in and I wish it was better known
I will always have a soft spot for *Lil Nicky and 50 first dates.* ❤️
The later has been on my mind quite a bit recently, specifically the ending (when drew has to watch a “recent events in your life” video every morning-so she doesn’t go nuts)...
Yeah, that’s exactly what I imagine biden’s morning routine is like too.😆
As someone that grew up loving his early movies, after watching Uncut Gems i thought it was for sure his best movie. Great video dude
I like that his movies just seem like him and his friends having a good time
Men, Women & Children is a criminally underrated movie in which he also gives a surprisingly good performance.
*Seeing a new Rich Dad trailer as a Sandman-defender*
SOMEBODY KILL ME PLEEASE, IM ON MY KNEES, PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE
Adam Sandler like Jim Carrey will always have a place in my heart.
The Longest Yard is my favorite movie from him
@Mr Lion It was terrible. They were many remakes on it. The Sandler one wasn't good. I liked some other films like Zohan and those chick flicks.
@Cameron Belanger Just watched The Longest Yard again. Just changed my mind. It's okay but better than Zohan.
He came to my art school and I almost opened a door onto his face lol
You mean you nearly smacked the face of THE Adam Sandler with a door!? Amazing! :o
Casa de Frank yea 😂😅 he came because I think his kids might being going there in a few years. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess haha (just hope they can make real friends, not just because of their dad)
Bedtime Stories is still a guilty pleasure of mine.
Plus I think The Cobbler is a very underrated movie.
You know, Idk if it's because I'm latina but I actually love Spanglish. I think is an amazing movie, tackling a subject so common in my life that often surprises me that people doesn't appreciate it more. And, of course, I love Sandler's role in it.
This man Adam Sandler literally hangs out with his friends at a resort for most of his movies while his wife is an absolute dime and honestly i’m happy for him
what about “Bedtime Stories” tho
Adam Sandler was like my friend in college who became a coke and sex addict her freshman year bc she was bored and unchallenged before transferring to an Ivy and getting over her addictions. They have so much potential but yet here we are
Lotti Smith yup because drug addiction is on par with just being a shitty actor. Grow up.
I just watched Uncut Gems yesterday and I gotta say, it's definitely his best work in a long time. That ending was crazy too, I felt like I was in that situtation
Definitely a great movie. But holy shit I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack the whole damn time. That's good moviemaking
I've been so over Sandler for years but this video convinced me to watch Uncut Gems in the future.
This was an excellent deep-dive. I'm going to go watch some of Sandler's "outlier" stuff now.
Adam Sandler has made movies of him basically on vacation and made millions of dollars doing so. I don’t think anyone can truly critique this man.
Not to forgot that he takes his friends with him by giving them roles lol.
Where’s big daddy? cause that shit made me cry 😭
I grew up watching Adam Sandler’s movies so I think I’m a bit biased but I loved all his movies. Maybe it’s nostalgia speaking but I thought he was really funny. My favorite is Anger Management!
The beats to this video lined up perfectly with the Sibelius startup music and it sounded glorious.
My favourite films of his are: Punch Drunk Love, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Funny People, Big Daddy, The Waterboy
But my favourite performance of him has to be as Howard from Uncut Gems- he was amazing in it!
PDL yes!!! Why noone mentioned it?
He gave us Happy Gilmore!
"No one expects every will farell movie to be great"
I usually expect them to be terrible
I love Don’t Mess with the Zohan!!
Dont mess with zohan is one of the funniest movies i’ve ever. I watched it on netflix about 3 months ago and expected it to be shit but it was actually really entertaining because of how silly it is
I love your career focused pieces too! Do Jennnifer Lawrence next please.
I think uncut gems is one of the most refreshing movies I've seen
not even a mention of I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry ? it is one of my favorites.
Grown Ups 2 is the worst I’ve seen. I don’t really like to waste my time and watch a lot of shitty movies
Multimedia Man it’s like they weren’t even trying to be funny with that movie.
How did u manage to finish watching that movie?
Wave Ride I’ve seen worse
ULGROTHA I know all to well about that
@@thisjustincomics Jack and Jill is the second worst movie I've ever seen. The first is Escape Room.
50 First Dates, Happy Gilmore and Blended are my personal favourites nostalgia definitely plays a role but I still love them
Something about "Click" that makes it a multi dimensional and fantastic. I think that's his best movie yeat
"Uncut gems" was a fantastic movie. It's surprisingly good.
Yeah, i get it; anyone remembers "The Meyerowitz Stories"
Click is one of the only movies that made me tear up during the dying scene
Grownups 1 had a little bit of a nostalgia hit for me because of its shooting locations with Woodmans and at Centennial Grove. Spent a few summers at that dinky little clay filled beach just down the hill from that basketball court, which wasn't there when I lived in Essex. I will say though that that friggin 1920's fire engine has been in every single town parade that I remember.
