Honestly I feel like the NDS is an example of how good could midi sequenced music could sound! Nowadays we have limitless storage, thanks to that music can be a full bitstream of HD audio, but that doesn't mean that MIDI sequenced music sounded bad! It mostly depends on soundfont quality, and if the DS were to had sample interpolation it would have sounds way better and less... Crackling compressed.
The "Jeh Jeh"'s are sampled by Naganuma but I'm not sure from which song. However, plenty of videos cover the samples Naganuma used and you can hear them in their original form.
