Stan filmed his cameos through Endgame prior to his passing in 2018. This was just the first film released after his death.
This was the last cameo Stan Lee filmed before he got too ill, but the actual final cameo is in Endgame

That was Stan. He filmed all his MCU cameos through Endgame (and non-MCU Deadpool 2 + Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse) before he died.
I’m a huge Captain Marvel fan since the 90’s and I’m over the moon since she entered the MCU. She should’ve come earlier. Carol is such a classic Avenger.

Movie made a billion dollars. Everybody say they don't like the movie . Loved the 90s music and feel. I liked the movie . She didn't have help like the other movies . Good job . Brie larson
The reason for The disconnect from the amount of money the movie made versus people reception of it was because people were under the assumption that this movie had great importance to end game so a lot of people saw it. People didn't realize it didn't have a great importance to end game and it was pretty bad in comparison to most marvel movies so they didn't like it.

Lmao if this movie wasn''t sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame and wasn't made a big deal out of by Disney, even though it was 90% irrelevant for Endgame, the movie would have made half the money at best. Cpt. Marvel (Carol Danvers) is a character even most comic fans don't care about, else her comics wouldn't have been cancelled and rebooted a thousand times over. The Marvels proved that nobody cares about the character.

At 30:41 there is an example of sound that you will not hear if you don't have sound coming into both of your ears. You only hear the door knock and the right ear. I'm sure you guys hear most of the sounds, but there was a danger of one of you missing some subtle parts. Of course, you probably fix this by listening in mono if that's available. Sorry if I seen fixated on this.
This movie and Endgame both wrapped up production before Stan Lee passed away, but he died before this movie was released.

Stan Lee filmed all his scenes before he died so they had them ready. It's why you will see him through Endgame.

Stan Lee filmed 3 or 4 cameos prior to his death, a lot of these movies were shot around the same time
The original Captain Marvel like a magical version of Superman, and he was actually more popular than Superman like 60-70 years ago. Mentioned in a Beatles song, in fact. Anyway, DC Comics sued Fawcett, the owners of Captain Marvel, and basically killed that character, even though the similarity to Superman was SLIGHT. This created an opening for Marvel to jump in and they created their own Captain Marvel character, which was actually a bit closer to Superman, in that he was a super-strong alien on Earth. So his hero name was Captain Marvel, and his alien name was Mar-Vell. His secret identity on Earth was Walter Lawson. He wasn't that popular, so they reworked his character and his costume, but he still didn't catch on, and a few years later he got reworked again, but still not popular, and eventually they killed him off. During a phase where they were trying to introduce female spin-offs of male heroes, they created Ms. Marvel, who got her powers from Captain Marvel (and Rogue of the X-Men got her own powers in turn from Ms. Marvel). Ms. Marvel was never popular. Anyway, these heroes have been around for decades, so finally we got to the point where Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers, former love interest of Captain Marvel) became the new Captain Marvel, which is basically what you see here. However, this movie has very little basis in comics lore, so I guess you could say they got creative with it, but the fan service aspect is low, which irritated fans.
The old, original Captain Marvel is now owned by DC Comics and they call him Shazam, because now that Marvel has the rights to the character name, they can't call him Captain Marvel anymore.
Well, The original Mar-Vell became popular when they came out with the graphic novel surrounding his death. That's why Marvel kept coming out with new versions(Genis-Vell) and his siblings.

I collected a lot of comics when I was a kid, including appearances of Mar-Vell, Warlock, and the Silver Surfer. You might consider these "popular" characters, but at least when I was reading they couldn't ever keep a solo magazine going.
FYI that was Stan Lee’s last cameo he filmed. Also you are the only people who didn’t notice Nick Fury has 2 eyes!

To fully understand Stan's cameo in this film(he was literally playing *himself* ), I would highly suggest that you watch the films of writer/director/actor Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse👍 He was doing the whole interconnected film universe over a decade before the MCU came along🤔

The thing is you don't have to watch Fox's X-men movies for Phase 4 of MCU , but you have to watch Sam Raimi's Spider-man Trilogy , two Amazing Spider-man movies , and Venom 1&2
If you have , there is nothing else really nessacary that you "have to" watch it

they actually knew stuff way before Thor. Peggy and Howard already got their fair share of space stuff with the Tesseract and all of that, they would then go and found SHIELD. i'm still watching so i'm not sure if you realize it later in the video.

That still retcons Fury telling Stark, Cap etc. that Thor/Asgard is the reason Shield wanted to use the Tesseract to make weapons in the first Avengers movie, except he used Thor as a metaphor for aliens in general.
This, combined with the fact that "last time i trusted someone i lost an eye" from an imo Top 5 Marvel movie in Winter Soldier, got turned into "he got scratched by a space kitty" and whoever decided to have Larson act that deadpan is the reason this movie is just meh at best for me and definitely not worth the billion dollar box office it made. The additional bonus of the "girlboss" doesn't help, but annoyed me far less than the other stuff.
Peggy Carter never founded Shield, it was Nick. She worked for Shield. The constant dumbing down of the lore

@@DarkSun123456789No retcon. The Tesseract was in many places in the years between when Hydra had it and it showed up again in the prelude to The Avengers. Including when Dr Lawson was trying to use it for peaceful purposes. Fury just restarted the weapons research when it seemed like a greater threat was possible.

I didn’t hate the movie but it felt like filler when I saw it because I wanted to get to end game. It also brings up a question that the MCU hasn’t figured out how to answer: “Where were you during our fight with Thanos?” There’s not been a great explanation for me.

Great casting and Brie Larson was actually fan casted by a lot of fans long before! It was a long time waiting for lots of us real fans.
Captain America was way before this, before Shield and Avenger Initiative.. This is the begining of that idea.
The SSR was the precursor to SHIELD.
Phase 4 is LARGE. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the midpoint of Phase 4 (there are 8 MCU projects before it, & 8 MCU projects after it).
Start with Phase 4, Marvel WILL ASSUME you’ve watched previous Marvel-related/non-MCU movies & will now start ADDING HEAVY ELEMENTS of those properties into the MCU WITHOUT INTRODUCTION/EXPLANATION.
BEFORE YOU GET TO SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME, you need to watch (bare-minimum):
The previous 5 non-MCU Spider-Man” films
X-Men (at least the first film)
Daredevil (at least the first season)
Again, heavy elements of these properties will be introduced into the MCU without explanation; it would be very wise to react to those BEFORE “No Way Home.” As you get closer to that movie, the Comment Section will definitely start reminding you to watch those other properties.
Also while theres NO DC hereos but the first comic line still alive is detective comics. Shazam hero name is Captain marvel too. But due to legal battles they lost. But of course. There's blue marvel. Ms. Marvel. Actually her first hero name. And others.

I love this movie so much, she survived the fall from space to Earth because that general of the Kree Empire who was training her gave her transfusion of his blood her superhuman , strength , speed, durability, reflexes and Danvers' skin density, muscles, and bones have increased exponentially due to her hybrid influenced physiology.
Man you’re missing details while discussing in the middle of the movie T_T you should treat it more like a MOVIE theatre. You don’t get to talk in the middle of it!
The reason Fury gets suspicious with the Director is because he called him “Nicholas” when right before, he told Carol “Everybody calls me Fury.”
So you didn't show it here but Fury says right before he picks up Goose "I'm trusting you to not eat me" and in Captain America The Winter Soldier; Fury tells Steve "The last time I trusted someone I lost an eye" 49:08
Stan Lee was still around when they were filming this! I remember that after he died, Kevin Feige decided that they won't CGI him in upcoming movies. (altough in one of upcoming movies there is a note in the movie's script that they casted Stan Lee's lookalike, but it was cut)

Also, I felt that as Captain Marvel progressed you asked questions about this and that, but I didn't stop every time I had an answer so maybe, if I may, just review your reaction and answer those thoughts you had without spoiling. So, thanks. Oh, BTW, there is a lot I liked about this, but I kind of agree with Sam that it doesn't measure up to the other Avenger movies, but it put Brie Larson aka Carol Danvers in the spotlight. I think this movie eventually grossed over a billion $$$. Not to mention that Brie was born in my hometown (raised in LA) and she has an Oscar under her belt, so you had no doubt they were going to make a sequel, right? So, again, thanks. Good reaction. High time you guys watch agents of shield. 16:35 lmao you’d know the answers to these questions had you watched it or even the first season or first few episodes. But don’t feel alone 90% + of reactors skip it.
I watched the entire thing in less than 9 days when I first watched it, well over 100+ hours of mcu content, best marvel show ever created imo & you get to know Coulson & his team far better & more intimately than any other mcu character in history. Such an epic show, the agents of shield saved the world dozens more times than the GOTG, Avengers, etc. combined. The big name heros may save the world from more dangerous threats, aka avenger level threats or universal level threats but the agents of shield stopped an unimaginable amount of threats before they even grew to that level or higher level threats. The AOS team stopped extinction level events/threats many times. They’re bigger heros than the avengers & GOTG no doubt & don’t try to argue it, if you’ve never even see the show in its entirety
Some of that’s def plot armor & whether it’s all canon or not is debatable from my understanding but confirmed by the writers to be canon or mostly canon at least. Plot armor decided what happens to every character in the mcu tho, just how strong or weak the writers decide to make them. Show ran from 2013-2020, AOS should be shown the respect it deserves. If I had to either never watch the entire MCU or AOS again? I’d pick to never watch the MCU & only have AOS
I think there's a lot of unfair criticism directed towards this movie but there's definitely stuff to actually criticize too. I think being an origin story through the lens of recovering her memories and discovering who she really is isn't a bad idea, but the fact the movie is between Infinity War and Endgame means it's hard to be invested because you're already VERY invested in what's going on present day MCU and this movie doesn't really effect that so it doesn't feel satisfying. It's similar to Ant Man and The Wasp in that it feels like it's dragging on a bit, and I think a lot of that feeling comes from the fact you're already anticipating Endgame after the ending of Infinity War. I think these two movies pumped the brakes too hard when the surrounding Avengers movies are going full speed through the climax of the saga.
Captain Marvel is one of my favourite characters though, and I really enjoyed The Marvels that came out this year.

The unfortunate part about watching these movies after the fact is that you end up meta thinking through what happens and it detracts a bit .. maybe not a lot but a bit from the suspense of what is going to happen. "more character movies must mean they come back right". Hopefully there is still enough suspense/concern for you both leading into endgame.
In the comics, Skrulls are bad guys. Ben Grimm (aka the ever-lovin' Thing) once even claimed they were worse than Nazis, glad that he could stop holding back against them. The MCU has switched a few things up to keep things fresh for us comic nerds, this being one example.
I agree that, although this wasn't anywhere near a bad film, it just wasn't up to the standards set by those that came before.

Endgame is a long movie not sure how you guys will present it in full or in parts. either way you will see why its one of the most emotional comic book movies of all time. and why the russo brothers made their mark in comic book movie history as one of the top directors of these types of films
The funny thing is, at least in THIS movie, nobody ever calls her "Captain Marvel" :-) I don't know/remember whether that changes later (and I haven't seen The Marvels yet)... I still just call her Carol.
Concur: Never saw Top Gun? If you do, its important to watch TG1 first. Very Important! Also, if your local theater ever re-releases Top Gun 1 or 2 you should see it there too. I took my teen to see TG2 when it came out in the theater. Just incredible. Tom Cruise has said before that his movies were made for the theater not the tv screen.

Captain Marvel is not related to Captain America. Mar-Vell is a kree warrior who was armed with an artifact known as Nega Bands.
Carol Danvers started out as an Air Force pilot. In the comics she was exposed to the explosion of a kree device created by Yon-Rogg known as the Psyche-Magnetron. The resulting energy gave her super powers. Flight, Invulnerability as well as energy absorbtion/projection. Also a psychic ability she referred to as her seventh sense. A kind of cosmic awareness.
The original Captain Marvel was male. They created Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) due to threats by DC comics to create female versions of some of their characters. This resulted in the creation of three new female heroes. Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman), Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) and Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) in the early 80's.
Later on Carol Danvers changed her identity to Captain Marvel after The original died from cancer in Marvel's very first graphic novel "The Death of Captain Marvel" by Jim Starlin who created Thanos.

With all the “M-She-U” nonsense we have to put up with in this fandom, it’s nice to see non-bias information that is helpful.
In addition to the things you mentioned, there are some other things that don't really make sense in this movie, like destroying the jukebox to prove she's not a skrull.
Why would they make uniforms with a built-in color-changing feature? That defeats the whole purpose of a uniform.
How does Carol hide the skrulls and their new homeworld, so that Ronan never finds it? He can find Earth, and Xandar, and lots of other planets, he's got interstellar space travel. Do we ever find out how the new skrull homeworld is kept hidden?
When did Coulson get separated from Fury at the Blockbuster so that he could be replaced by a skrull? At all times that we see, he was with him the whole time.
Why didn't the kree let Vers use her powers? If she'd been using them this whole time, they'd have probably already won the war long before she recovered her memories, and she probably wouldn't have been captured in the first place, so maybe she'd have still been fully loyal to the kree.
Whatever happened to the flerken after the events of this movie? Captain Marvel didn't take it with her. It was still there in Fury's office.
Why didn't Fury use the pager when the chitauri invaded? Was that not an emergency? Or when Ultron tried to end all life on Earth?
Considering how long it seemed to have been between when Fury used the pager and when Carol finally showed up, I wonder if he probably used it several times and she just didn't get there until the Avengers already had it taken care of.
Those weren’t universal threats. Carol can’t handle every earth related problem. But she can get involved if it affects the universe.

Carol is the 2nd or 3rd captain marvel! The original captain marvel was a kree warrior called Mar-vell. He died in comics in 1970s in his graphic novel. In the MCU Carol Danvers is the first Captain Marvel. The movie history is completely different for many characters, including her.
In the comics Carol is the seventh Marvel character to take up the title "Captain Marvel", but she's been around as a superhero (Ms Marvel) since the 1970s.
In any case, Carol Danvers is the current Captain Marvel, the character Marvel Studios was always going to bring into the MCU. Mar-Vell has been dead since 1982.
Of course ORIGINAL Captain Marvel is the character now owned by DC Comics who was renamed "Shazam" in 2011.

Detained with target, Carol is the target. Captain Marvel is Marvel's Superman. Original Nick Fury's loss of an eye was far more mundane, and totally terrestrial.

Yeah unfortunately some later MCU movies are terrible with continuity, contradicting important statements made in earlier films.
In the Avengers Fury said Thor was the reason for SHIELD trying to use the Tesseract and other alien artifacts to develop weapons. That Thor's (and presumably the Destroyer's) appearance made Earth's goverrnments realize how outgunned they were against alien threats. But in this movie we find out he'd run into Skrulls and Kree decades earlier, and already been inspired to put together a super-team.

Post endgame projects aren't good except the spiderman trilogy and guardians 3 (these 2 must watch cause it completes their story).
So if you want to drop out if this journey, you can after endgame as it is the end of an entire saga.
Ah yes, the beginning of the end for Marvel.... Jk, jk, i'm not gonna bitch as much as most people online. But let's not pretend that most of theur later movies were a letdown... Still, there's plenty to be excited about and some underrated gems too

This movie could have been so much better, but this was when Marvel started pushing "the message" of women good, men bad. After End Game the movies really went downhill, with the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (was still a decent movie).
There was no such message pushed in this or any other movie.

Right, because Talos, Fury and Coulson are portrayed as such horrible men. Not to mention the main bad, the Supreme Intelligence who happens to be a woman. You're almost as brainwashed as Carol was at the start of the movie.
@@DarkSun123456789 sounds more like overreaction and projection. All they did was make a concerted effort to introduced and showcase more female characters, who were largely negelected in Phases 1-2. Captain Marvel was the first female-led solo film for the MCU, and it was late to the party. There really should have been a Black Widow movie as part of the leadup to the Avengers.
This was just OK as a movie. The biggest problem to me is that the stakes were just a little to low and then they over powered Captain Marvel so much that you never worried about her.
Brie larsons face is always cranky lookin
For a large part, so is Capt. Marvel's in the comics.
It wasn't a great movie.
it was a shame this film and character largely ended up being a dud, it seems people only saw it because it was between IW and endgame
Snoozefest of a movie. Brie Larson miscast, some stiff ass acting. Only good parts are Sam J, the return of the Son of Coul, and Ben Mendelson
The sequel is somehow worse too. They decided to over compensate for her stiff acting and made her a carbon copy of the "adorkable" Disney princess.
I would put that on the director not Brie Larson though. She is a talented actress that can play happy just fine, but the director chose not to portray Carol that way. A big part of the character's arc was being brainwashed and then after that taught not to be emotional. Not a great choice, but it is what it is.

it could've been so great. Great character in the comics and basically the equivalent of superman and we get... whatever this was
