  • Rohtas Fort: Unraveling Pakistan's 6th UNESCO World Heritage Site [4K] Ultra HD
In the annals of history, Rohtas Fort emerges as a magnificent symbol of resilience and strategic brilliance. Constructed by Sher Shah Suri following his decisive victory over the Mughal emperor Humayun in 1541, this formidable stronghold stands as a testament to early Muslim military architecture in Central and South Asia.
Spanning across a sprawling 70 hectares, the fortress boasts massive masonry walls stretching over four kilometers in circumference, adorned with 68 majestic bastions and guarded by 12 monumental gateways strategically placed to thwart any advancing force. Despite being built to repel the Mughal emperor, Rohtas Fort never faced a direct assault, allowing it to withstand the tests of time and remain remarkably intact to this day.
Nestled atop a hill overlooking the picturesque gorge where the Kahan River meets the seasonal stream of Parnal Khas, within the Tilla Jogian Range, Rohtas Fort is located just eight kilometers south of the Grand Trunk Road and approximately 16 kilometers northwest of Jhelum, near the city of Dina.
