I just realized that the Daku cough was supposed to represent the letter Keiko (Mother) left. If we go back, Keiko does mention that Daku has a cold and is getting weaker. That probably explains why he coughs. mucdich is amazing with the details.

Maybe she isn’t wearing a mask because inside of her maze, where nobody can find her, she takes off her mask. Until you (the player) drop in.

It may be the name of the sound in studio, but it was used for different purposes. The whispering audio was used for Kuriko’s breathing and the screaming (Which I highly doubt Omukade even is) is used for crawling. I asked a lore writer about this and confirmed that Kuriko is breathing and not whispering, Omukade though is just crawling sounds (I think she thought I meant her crawling soundtrack)
