Long time ago I have to drive a 308 for two days when my beloved 312 was for service. Man what disaster was that if you are always drive with the powerfull 2.9 5 cilinder I was so happy when i have my 312 back .
I drive 308D Sprinter Last 20 years, and over 700k km. Originally with the same 79hp OM601, which work without any problems from 1997 to 2019, then I changed engine to 177hp OM606 inline 6, with full 212D transmission and 3.45 final, gear, and finally ive got a perfect, durable and powerful van of my dream. Maybe next step was a turbo and injection pump modification.
@@magdalenapytlakowska9486 x12D, and CDI also Have 1st gear around 5.0 ratio, and all of them 0.78 5th gear (with 5 speed manual, except some 711.605 with 0.70 5th). But 308 and 408 Have very short final gear 4.857 or sometimes 5.2 (about 100 or 90kmh @ 3000rpm on 5th). 208 a little bit better with 4.37, but it come on smaller wheels 195/70R15, compared to 3xx with 225/70R15. So all 79hp 2.3 Have very short gears, and it's Hard to drive on highway. More Powerful engines come with 4.37, 4.1, 3.7 or 3.45 final gear (with old 4 speed automatic box 3.25 and 2.95 also available)

Ohh yeah, 79 hp and 152 Nm out of 2.3 litres! Those engines are built to last.

@@M4XW3LLFR05T Probably just some bad glow plugs. 50€ and an easy fix. These engines are known for driving over 1.000.000 km without any major issues
