For four years, Laura Snowden had the incredible fortune of studying with one of the 20th century’s leading figures of the classical guitar, Julian Bream. During that period, she spent part of her time working on Benjamin Britten’s famous “Nocturnal” which was commissioned by Bream himself. In this interview, Laura provides incredible insight on what that experience was like for her.

This proves Bream's humility, which is evident in his playing. His whole approach was to get your ego out of the way of the music, which is something that is often sorely lacking in most performers.

Thank you. Lovely and enlightening conversation. It's interesting to hear Ms. Snowden speak of Julian's method because I had precisely the same impression of him when I met him. Lovely, gentle, brilliant and humble, and yet with a razor sharp knowledge and insight of exactly how he wanted a piece to sound. Glorious man. We miss him.

Great interview. Breams passion and emotion came out in his music, he gave absolutely everything of himself to the pieces and committed fearlessly and 100% which is why he’s my all time favourite musician.

Steve Goss came to Brazil in 2013, he was a kind of angel for us, in São Paulo Leo Brouwer Festival. With all his chats, conferences and class, he gave to musicians a big present. I am looking forward to know Laura Snownden too, for me one of the gigants of our music and guitar world. While we wait for this occasion, I thank to this good friend and fantastic master for give to us the opportunity of listen Laura talking abour our dear Julian and his atmosphere now more close to us than never.
    Thanks!

I didn't know the Princess of
Wales had anothe younger sister who looks and sounds so lovely. Years ago Johnny
Carson told a guest, an expert
    gardener named Crusoe:
" You haven't lost your British
    accent". She replied: "Johnny,
you have an accent, I speak
    English!".

Seems to me the word the lovely lady is struggling to find is understanding, and you can't get understanding better than from experience. I believe this is the lesson the great maestro was imparting. Rest in peace maestro, you are sorely missed.

The flaw in your argument is that Laura Snowden is unique. There are no people like Laura. Each human is a unique being.
