Thank you for being honest. I said the same thing we have to start expecting more. I know it’s an indie but with games like Asgards Wrath and Behemoth coming out and it’s just 15 dollars more why buy this? People say well every system has successful indies and that’s true but other consoles AAA games cost 70 so indies costing 20-30 on there is still a deal. In VR where AAA cost 30-50 it’s not the same.
I've played tons of indie-level games I was quite happy (check my last two game reviews), but these shallow melee and shooters are becoming a dime a dozen these days (there's a few every month now), so they need to be more special to stand out. Thanks for watching!
Lol thank you bro, I knew from the first look that this was going to be garbage, why would I ever bother with this, I have asgard's, assassin's, and now behemoth on the way, so games like this for me are welcome no more, Im ready for diffrent settings now seriously. They thought they would sell because it has the words souls in it. More crap that's an super easy pass, nothing about this even looked good lol
@liveopenmike I 100% understand, too many of the same style games coimg all at once making it feel so unoriginal, stale, and a chore to try to enjoy. At this point I'm only expecting completely polished experiences, no more of this early access, big patch later, be my beta testers at full price crap anymore lol.
I can't speak for the textures, because I haven't tried this, but from your video, I thought the actual building design and environments looked pretty nice. But yeah, the NPC's look terrible.
The problem is anytime you get close to anything, the worse it looks. After a couple of hours, I couldn't unsee it. I did appreciate the scale they were going for at least.
Such a shame. It looks like when they rendered the NPC's, they did the base colour pass and shadow pass, but forgot the texture and lighting pass. Or maybe it was a cheap, quick and dirty way to optimise the game.
really bad grab mechanics. But this is fixable - except of course when there's no incentive for it, like when it gets bad reviews for minor stuff like this and so any potential players shy away. No money rolling, no updates. Most VR games are by tiny indies with small budget releasing stuff in early access to try to fund further development and so reviewing them is kinda pointless...
@@VRnamek Honestly I would’ve been kinder if it were tagged early access. A full release implies that at least for the solo campaign, this is close to a finished product. So it’s fair to criticize middling combat and bad voice acting if they’re not placeholders to be changed out later. I play a lot of early access games and I’m much more forgiving as I expect those games to change and (hopefully) improve over time. For instance, the Attack on Titan game that released earlier this year I didn’t review because I knew it wasn’t a finished product.
Oddly enough this video from your channel was reccomended to me the same day i saw the games trailer, dispite never seeing your channel before. Imo (not attacking anyone) it seems my expectations for standalone VR are way lower than everyones else. Maybe its because i own but havent played Asgard's Wrath 2 yet. 1 thing i 100% stand with you on is blood, physics, and voice acting. Actors sound like they dont get paid enough to care xD however when it comes to melee games, idk how difficult it is to implement proper hit registration for wiggle physics and severing specific limbs but i try to pkay the game as intended bc as you say, it feels cheap and easy to charge at enemys with swords pointing forward. Overall though, great video, and i look forward to seeing more of your content
Thank you for watching and glad to hear the UA-cam algorithm is working for me a little. I'm past the point of accepting shallow experiences at this point, especially from experienced VR developers. I loved the premise of this game. It just failed in the execution for me. The devs have said they're at least working on recording the voice lines again. We'll see how that goes.
you should go play AW2. it's what you get when there's Meta big budget behind you, otherwise most of VR scene is passionate indies like this missing that budget. Imperfect, but still charming. And most issues are fixable in due time...
VR in general doesn't, honestly. If you remove the sandbox games and procedurally generated rogue lites, there's basically Grimlord, Undead Citadel, and I guess Blade and Sorcery now that it has a campaign and all of those are cross platform. VR definitely favors guns over swords unless it's an arena fighter. Part of why Asgard's Wrath 2 is my favorite VR game.
@liveopenmike I've seen a few others to be honest but I did not know about grimlord and citadel I'll have to check those out also the blade of sorcery campaign looked very underwhelming I watched a vid of two. Im loving asgard's wrath it's quite unique compared to other RPGs.
As a consumer, I really appreciate your honest feedback. Solid review. This game will be a pass.
Thanks! :)
5:01 is that tts
Nope, that’s a NPC I hadn’t freed yet. The voice acting is that bad. 😂

Stabby stabby with wiggle physics is sad
@@RealmofRuss the worse 😡
I was definitely a little bit excited about this and By grit alone but unfortunately won't be getting either. 4th quarter of 24 has kicked ass though
I haven't had a chance to check out By Grit Alone, but honestly I'm burned out on shooters anyway, so I'm in no rush.
Thanks for this review, this is what I would afraid this game would end up being
Opinion has been pretty divided on it. Personally, this just didn't do it for me at all.

Opinion is pretty divided on the game, which is fine. This just wasn't for me, which sucks because I was looking forward to it.

@@BlujusticeVR I'm with you. I'll do it for the channel, but I'm putting a higher value on my time and money moving forward.

Thanks for the honest review, I seen a few other reviews and I’ve gotten burn in the past with what they recommend. Thanks again I’ll stay subscribe.
Thank you! And yeah opinion seems to be divided on this game. I know people who are really enjoying it. To each their own, I guess.
Great honest review as always. Not touching it when there is so much better stuff out in this season of abundance
Yeah. I said at the end it's a "wait for a sale" if you had an interest, but not something I would say anyone should rush to play.
From what ive seen meta doesnt have anything remotely like this beyond asgards wrath considering most of the others are rogue lites.

you know that Prince of Persian evolved into Assassin's Creed and an entire Assassin's Creed is a Quest exclusive, don't you?
@VRnamek so what dude that's one f****** game I can't stand you be soft anyway I'm fully aware what they have made
