I like this ride better than the Pirates of the Caribbean in all of the Disney parks, because it’s visually gorgeous. Plus the vehicle is a boat with a light in the front of it. It doesn’t need a few drops to be a great ride.
While this attraction has always been a knock off of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean I can't help but admire the modern lighting and special effects as it all looks fantastic. Recently Disney's version has been very dark and poorly maintained in comparison.
It is not a knock off. Disney doesn't own the rights to having a pirate themed attraction, so many parks have those. The previous version which burned down had some obvious references to POTC but this one as far as i know does not. If you want to see a knock off, it is called Geisterschloss.
