Sir, please don't divide the hair. The word of God is crystal clear - 1 "Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy" - Peter 1:16 KJV One can't continue to sin and still be holy. Being righteous is being good, and being holy is certainly being good.
We are holy by putting on Christ. One does that by accepting him as our savior. What you are reference is a works based salvation. Doing things to earn salvation. That's not how God intended salvation to be, he paid it all on cross. Trust in him and his work, not our own. Shalom
Our best righteousness is as filthy rage. But Christ dwelling within us changes our values, our perspective, and our awareness to focus on Christ, and allowing Him to replace our attitudes with the faith of Jesus instead of our own weak faith. And I say, praise the LORD for that, because we have none of our own.
This is so powerful and EXACTLY what I needed to hear this morning.

All our righteousness as filthy rag(Isaiah 64:6). Without God there is no holiness, without God there is nothing good in us (Psalms 16:2)

I have news for you, preacher. The Bible does not say that there is "NONE THAT DOETH GOOD". Read the statement again in Psalm 14 and Psalm 53.
