  • What is a sprung shoe?
A shoe that is sprung is bent away from the hoof at the heel.
It is wise to stop riding or exercising a horse with a sprung shoe as this increases the risk of hoof bruising and further injury.
Often the shoe shifts and puts pressure on the sole causing lameness.
The video shows a mild case. However, if the shoe is badly bent it is wise to remove it so further damage doesn't occur.
