Got quite a few AJH modules in my collections. The only ones I keep now are the VCOs, Filters, and VCAs. The last two types can be used as mixer and overdriving signals. They are really enjoyable and make any signals run through pleasant.
Q: If I enable self-oscillation on the Gemini, obviously, I gain self-oscillation and the resonance knob reacts differently and I have to keep that reined in if I don’t want self-oscillation. But do I *lose* anything (timbrally/functionally) by having self-oscillation enabled?
Everything will be exactly the same, but just with a much higher limit of resonance, so it’ll just be as though you were able to turn the pot around a lot further in it’s normal setting.

That’s great to hear, thank you. Both filters and VCAs can add warmth and richness to audio signals.

Is it possible to connect the 2 cables to 2 filters instead of the VCA?
Sure, the switch is just replacing the function of the jumper, so that’ll work fine with any combination.
