I've been on that river twice. There are tons of rocks/boulders underneath. We did 30 + miles i think we dropped of in rome and camped in between on an island. Awesome time. Going back end of April
Im assuming you put in at Neal's Landing and took out at Grizzard Park. That's a 16 mile float. I have yet been able to do it. Looking forward to making the run this spring or summer.
My target species is catfish. I have yet to catch one. Kind of hard to fit in fishing in between work and helping out wife with 2 toddlers and a baby. Last time i was out on the etowah, i lost some tackle underwater. I got a few hooks caught and stuck underwater. Hopefully i have better luck
I feel you about finding time to fish. Fortunately my 2 children are in there late teens and are to cool to hang with dad, 😆. I don't target cats but, those I know that do target the deep wholes towards the middle of the river. Bait, chicken livers or shad heads. Like I said, I don't target them but have caught several. So they're in there and fight like hell. Goodluck fishing and being a parent.
@@ThatGuyWithTheFish1460 i have used raw bacon soaked in garlic powder and fish attractant oils bought at academy sports. That and nightcrawlers and cut bluegill.
It is possible and it would be a blast to pull off a 3 day trip. However keep in mind that all properties on the lower Etowah is private. Even the island you camped on.
I see you picked the middle route through that one rapid at the beginning. Unfortunately, I've only chosen the right, then the left. Not recommended lol

I bet they were glad that you had your blue bag with you!
