I was at this concert and remember Alan Stivell's mesmerising performance on a lovely sunny summer August Sunday in Cork. There was a huge contingent of French people there enjoying his music and also that of The Dubliners, The Wolfe Tones and Christy Moore. Happy days!
That's awesome that you were at this concert. I discovered Alan Stivell because I adore Van Morrison and I was reading an old interview with him where he said he liked some of Alan's stuff. Alan has been able to bring folk, celtic, and rock music together seamlessly.
I've loved this guy since I was a little kid and knew all of his music, but I wasn't allowed to go to his concerts cause i was considered too young. He's still brilliant. Thank you for this video
How can you be a fan of Alan's and only appreciate him singing trad tunes that you've heard Irish musicians cover to death? Its the breton tunes... the harmonies and melodies that have blown me away since I were a wee child.
I mush prefer this (acoustic) Stivell before he got too electrified.....But he introduced me to the Celtic Harp, so will will always hold a special place for me. Notonly a superb musician, but what a voice!...The Wind of Keltia or The Trees They Grow High being Spellbindingly Beautiful.
I love this, it is such a beautiful music. Thank you Alan Stivell. 💫
