When the crowd cheers at the top of their lungs it gets me emotional every time! So refreshing to see that Blue Devils won't always win
Will Pitts, scariest and fiercest looking drum major yet
It's interesting looking at this video year after year, I've realized that Rick Valenzuela was not kidding when he said that the 2008 Phantom Regiment would be remembered forever. Think about it there have been probably over 400 different field shows and 45 seasons in the history of DCI. Almost 10 years later we still look back at 2008 and think of it as one of the greatest seasons in DCI history due to the atmosphere that the corps and the fans put out that year and Phantom was the winner of a three horse race between them the Cavies and BD, in a season where all three corps put exceptionally good programs out on the field.
And to say that I own one of the Gold and Brown Closer flags from this show... It makes me speechless. Indeed, this will be talked about forever! Phantom never ceases to amaze me!
Well, they're the Phantom "Regiment" so they've always had a military-eqsue style of doing things, in terms of the way they carry themselves and the way they rehearse, perform, etc. They leave one dog tag on the field at the end of finals to show that they've left everything on the field with their final show.
Ok. We get it. You think they're overrated. That's ok, you can have an opinion. But don't rag on Phantom just because you think they should have placed differently. The members of Phantom worked their butts off, just like the Blue Devils, just like the Cavaliers, and every other corps in DCI. If you don't like the scores, blame the judges. All PR did was perform their show as well as they could and it just happened to result in a gold medal. And who cares what their souvie booth people said, most of them either never marched or aged out long ago. DCI is not a place for people to hate on corps. So please, have a little respect for the members and especially the staff, many of whom are volunteers who just want to be a mentor and teacher. Say what you want, just keep this in mind.
The show made me cry, and so did this video...incredible
These shows are so inspirational... To someone who has never seen drum corps, this would just seem like a bunch of people just marching around... but, to a true fan it's an emotion and a feeling all its own to see all the corps. Leaving your homes and devoting yourself to an organization, making memories with your new family... it's life-changing. Making history like the Phantom Regiment has... it's more than even life-changing. It is indescribable. I'm going to be a part of Drum Corps one day..
A fitting tribute to an amazing corps.
one of the biggest pops I ever heard at a DCI show
win or lose, this corps will always be my corps. such a great production that completely embodies what phantom regiment is about.
My friend, just being on the field during finals retreat is an exhilarating feeling. Knowing that all the blood, sweat, and tears you shed the whole summer was all worth it.
15 years later, and we are still here talking about it. He was right!
You get 2 dog tags every year you march. After finals, you leave one on the field.
Dr. Dan looks so happy!
Second place......Blue Devils....and the crowd goes wild
Probably my favorite moment in history
The crowd's response sent chills down my spine...
I remember being there that day and chanting phantom with the rest of the crowd.
