Michael jus got my CBG and the craftsmanship, sound, quality and playing is over and above what I imagined. Very Pleased. Thanks Steve
That's awesome, Steve. I'm glad you like it. Thank you again. Merry Christmas. M~
Thank You so much . Have a cigar box with a warped lid. Solved my problem...Thank You again
The guitar sounds beautiful. l wanted to know if you could you possibly make a tutorial on the song "Sweet Home Chicago."😎🎸🇺🇲
You're the man Michael!!!Another informative & entertaining video!!!
Here Brazil !!!
Very very Nice.
Very timely Micheal. I've had a box lid on the scrap pile for over six moths and I put it in the trash yesterday. I guess I'll be trash diving tomorrow, and I'll let you know.
Ive had some bad ones in the past, just got rid of them. I should have tried this, I may have saved some lol
I don’t care how it’s done… it’s sounds GREAT 👍👍👍
It's nice when an idea works. I had a similar one. I tried using some old fret wire that I had radiused for a six string guitar. It crushed the outside edges of my first CBG feet board. I remembered a video I saw on the interweb. Some guy fixing dents in a guitar top with water and an iron. So I tried it and it worked. You couldn't tell where I crushed the board. I put straight frets wire in and bobs your uncle. BTW another great video and that was a cool lick. I think I'll have to figure that one out. 😊
Hey Michael....this is PERFECT timing!!!! I have an Antique Wood Box in decently good shape that would make an Amazing Guitar, Except the lid is kinda seriousley warped!!!! So I think I am going to try to 'Tenderly' soak the lid, and clamp it down for a few days. Don't think I'll have your patience to watch it the entire time though, just going to put it in a closet. Thanks for the tip!!! Hope you NEVER stop making videos, I've learned Alot ...about building, playing, music...and you're always Entertaining as Heck!!!! Take care....
Awesome as always mate! Greetings from Down Under
Only thing I may have tried differently is sandwiching it between two boards with the clamps.
Sweet Melody 🤘
I don't remember if I've done it before, but I would probably try it with two boards, one on each side, to get a more even pressure across the whole lid.
I would imagine that a steam box would be faster for solid wood. However, a plywood might delaminate, so your approach may have been best.
I need to try it with steam 1st.
It's funny that it's a Padron box. I have two Pandron boxes and they are both warped. I was wondering how to fix that. Thanks.
Hey Michael, good idea for straightening. I have a suggestion that may help achieve perfect flatness. Take the lid off of the box , soak it, then, clamp it between 2 boards. Making sure that the center is clamped as well. That should eliminate any chance of a warp. An additional thought is to heat the water until it is hot to the touch- not boiling, but hot! This is the technique used to bend wood, it should work for straightening wood as well. Love your channel. I’m just getting started making instruments, wish me luck. Joe Masker
Thanks Joe. I'll give that a try. Good luck with your builds. M~
