hi there, beautiful birds u got..JUST WOW.. this is wat i am planning to set up.. I need ur suggestion.. I have a pair of Gold Mantel Eastern Rosela .. Their cage Size 3ft L X 3 ft H X 2 ft W .. They eat seed mix, veges chilies, fruits, cuttle fish bones, egg food (not everyday dey don like it mch eider) ever day.. They love fresh food more dan seed mix.. Spray shower also every day.. the nest box size is also as ur ones.. the male is feeding the female as well.. i never saw dem mating.. the temp here is around 32 C .. bt fr some reason dey don get inside the nest box.. they do sit on the perch of the nest box.. bt nt going in.. coming to the light factor .. There is 40w Light bulb (2ft away from cage) as the cage is indoor.. i never used nest box.. i hav 15 pair of breeding budgies.. 30 semi adult budgies..and one full tamed African gray.. frm my budgies experience temp at 22 2 26 C is best suited for breeding.. they r healthy pair and well bonded.. either the female is healthy or she is carrying eggs.. i fear if they don use the nest i might hav egg binding problem.. hope u response..
hello, thanks for the beatifull words. normally in our zone rossela lay eggs in may latest at the begining of june. they prefder warm weather and minimum 12 hours of sun. i feed them exactly like you wote, there is nothing special. you can test with Nekton E supliments or Ferti Vit from Orlux. Do you ever have trouble with your red rumps accepting a mate? I have a male who I got from a pet home (he lived with cockatiels in a small cage) and he has been with my 2016 hen since beginning of the year (in my outside mixed aviary) but he chases her away when ever she's where he wants to be. He's got better with her he used to fly at her for no reason. I personally don't think he will ever accept her but what do you think?
+Habib Alfred Hello, for breeding first you need the space, normaly this australian parakeets like to be in separate pairs because they become aggresive. Then you need a proper food for them rich in vitamins , specialy E-vitamin. Nest for each pair with wood shavings inside. The light is also an factor that influence the breeding. When they moult they do not breed. If you have questions you can ask. All the best.
