Yup, because of that Ad, I, like many others still say - Not Happy Jan , when something goes wrong. That one definitely stuck. Remember that other ad, was it Telstra or something. I still sometimes say, when someone’s phone rings - That’ll Be The Phone Reg.
The funny thing is that although everybody complained about how annoying that ad is when it first came out in the mid 2000s everybody now knows exactly who National Tiles are. Genius marketing... I guess.
Until now, I'd thought this was Melbourne only. I moved from Sydney to Melbourne in 2001 and hadn't been listening to radio much for the previous year. So I got here and suddenly there's this annoying voice on the radio!

That Carlton ad was one of my favourites. I just love the choreography of it, and I love how they got a professional choir to sing the silly words🤣,very clever. Rhonda is Mandy McElhinney one of our very talented actors.
There isn’t a single person in Australia who can’t tell you the reading writing hotline number off the top of their head without hesitation. Talk about an effective ad.
Running joke amongst Aussies is that if you are overseas and want to find an Aussie, you yell out ...1300 and if there is an Aussie around they will yell back...6555 06.
National Tiles was so iconic for kids because everytime our parents would take us to school, the radio would play this add, epically with the HELLOOOOOOoooooo
Please tell me the HBA insurance ad with the crocodile kid is in this, oh and Franko Cozzo ofc! Edit: Ok, no luck, fingers crossed for part two 🤞 Oh, and maybe the Toyota "bugger" ad, and sick 'em rex, kick it to me, 80's Decore ad, Telstra great wall of China, oh so many goodies 😁

My fave ad is the mum looks like she's in prison but she's actually cleaning the shower is so dramatic hahaha , that and the old discovery channel ad for austar about the dad getting stung by a blue ringed octopus "That's bad dad "
The Rhonda Aimee adds were iconic when they were still running there is a few others that aren't in this videos aswell. *hot like a sunrise katut* was a popular saying to mock the ad 😂
FYI the cringe worthy adds are purposely made to be cringe worthy. Also there is now a new “Vax up australia” ad out, sponsored by AAMI so it has Rhonda and Ketut in it (their latest appearance). Also Rhonda was in holiday in Bali Indonesia, it’s where many bogan aussies go, apparently there are always lots of people that hound you on the beach to offer massages.
Look they're not all good but I can quote everyone of them, they're part of our history. I don't know a single person who couldn't sing you the number for the reading and writing hotline.
Is milk a different taste in America? It's not uncommon for us to drink milk straight. You need to drink full cream tho or whole milk not 2% or skim milk. Quick search reveals your Dairy Cows are majority corn fed with grains, while ours are mostly grass fed with grains.
A lot of them aren't supposed to be funny ads, but are catchy and became sort of memes embedded in Aussie culture, which people still repeat to this day.
Dad? Why did they build the Great Wall of China? . That, that was, during the time of the Emperor Nasi Goreng, And, ah, it was to keep the rabbits out. Too many rabbits, in China...
AAMI is Australian Associated Motor Insurers 🙂 The Rhonda and Ketut love story is one of Australia's greatest 🇦🇺🤣 I love the high school reunion one when Rhonda greets the mean girls "Hi Kylie. Hi Dannii". Kylie and Dannii Minogue are two of our most famous exports, especially in the UK. You would definitely know Kylie, but Dannii is pretty famous here too (and more so in Britain). I think it is hilarious when they use the sisters as gags in ads in shows, being a fan of both 🤣

bloody hell, I remember the free milk at school...it was usually delivered some time after 9am and would sit in the - unfrigerated - milk shed until "little lunch" at around 11am... winter time wasn't so bad coz it stayed fairly cold, but summer time it was always just that tad bit too warm but you had to drink it anyway, unless you had a note from your olds...we used to take one of those tall Tupperware cups with a lid and mum would put either choccy or strawberry Quik in it, then we'd pour the milk into the cup, put the lid on and shake like hell to get it to mix through properly, coz the powder'd always form a hard lump in the bottom of the cup... those were the days, these young'uns today don't know what they're missin'... ;))

milk drinks are very popular in australia. I had strawberry milk at a restaurant in LA with some actor friends, and they looked at me weird and told me it was a child's drink
The Real Milk ad was making fun of all the different milk types you can get. "I just want real milk" is a pretty popular meme in Australia. I had someone say it today in an MMO game I was playing.
The reading and writing hotline number is genius in a jingle cause everyone knows it and Rhonda and Ketut are the greatest love story in Australian history
The 'Reading, Writing Hotline' ad is nearly 30 years old; the beloved jingle has never changed, nor the cartoon style, but bits have been reworked to modernise it slightly (e.g. website reference). "Not. Happy. Jan!' is a cultural phenomenon and is still said on the schoolyard. Rheem is a hotwater system.
We have some very funny ads hoping they are in the 2nd video , the ants pantz ad, hba crocodile kid .... list goes on ..... will check it out soon vapor boys lol
We don’t do drugs! It was just sarcasm😅 I think a lot of people took it wrong. Our apologies!
Really! Some people took that seriously! Oh dear 🙄🤦🏼♀️😅.

Maybe American culture is different but why would people be concerned about you doing drugs? Not really their business.
Of course we believe you...
