"If I know that I can apologize well, then I can take the risk to make the mistake." - such beautiful and brilliant words of wisdom, truly!! I so deeply appreciate Casey's candidness and vulnerability, she's so intentional and her kindness really shines through. This was an excellent episode, Shannon, grateful to you for creating space for these meaningful and necessary conversations.
This episode was SO good. Casey has such a soothing demeanor. I am definitely going to grab her book because I loved hearing her perspectives on people, relationships, and sex. This is another new favorite episode for me.🙌🏽
Although I haven’t followed Shannon throughout her entire career, I can see such growth in her! Shannon you’ve become an excellent host, so empathetic and respectful, yet speaks her mind and what she stands for 👏🫶
I am genuinely impressed by the woman she is and what she stands for. Specifically how she is acknowledging and using her white privilege to platform minority voices and perspectives. Its honestly rare... I know many creators who were loud in 2020 during the blm movement but did not keep up with any of their promises to continually advocate for the black community. It was disheartening but an unfortunate reality. Doing the right thing is not always the easy thing. Shannon has been an ally to the indigenous community, Palestinians, bisexuals, the trans community, and other persons of color. She is a person of principle. Much respect for that and I hope it continues.
This was an interesting episode. The questions were diverse and the answers got vulnerable and thought out. I've only ever seen casey on the WHGS podcast but this was entirely different energy. Another great episode!
Great episode Shannon! The conversation was very candid and refreshing. I really liked that you put an emphasis on local voting as well. Sorry that most of the comments are about an ad and not the actual episode.
Loved this episode and this conversation!! Happy to see you getting more comfy talking about seggs on the pod. We need more of these conversations in the queer community 🙌🏼
If you’re promoting a product while also listing the resources that people might need for help after using it, then that already tells you everything you need to know about it.
This episode definitely helped me, I’m like you sm in the pleasing and the in my head aspect when it comes to making sure the other person is satisfied. Well done Shannon, amazing guest!👏🏾♥️
i relate so much to shannon about the guilty sleeping schedule thing.. and i am in my 20s, feeling guilty as heck about it every day, but hearing you talk about it makes me feel so much better!
Hi Shannon! I'm reading the book you mentioned, Sunburn, and it’s sooooo good! You should recommend more books! As soon as I finish what I'm reading now, I'll read Casey's book as well. I love your podcast! Kisses from Brazil!
it is true that we queer people hold each other to a higher standard. Sometime it can be helpful to learn and motivate us to better people but sometimes it can be too much and we need to give each other some grace. I also try to take criticism or disagreements as an opportunity to either learn or see things from an unknown perspective. I am less ignorant than I used to be but still ignorant about many things in the world. Its important to try and its okay to mess up or feel dumb sometimes.
I'm not too sure about the draft kings ad. I know you have to make money, but there's a lot of addiction issues in the LGBT community, and society in general. I feel like there are other amazing brands and companies who would sponsor you! And yes! Please vote! Let's keep our rights and love our neighbours. We don't stand for hate.
I really appreciated this conversation especially for the bit about having sex with trans people --- I feel like even when there's an effort to get the words right with other conversations there's not an effort to really explore what a relationship or sexual encounter would actually be like and this ep went there! As a cis woman who has dated a few trans femmes and always struggles to introduce them to the cis lesbian influencers I have followed since I was a teen ( because I don't see that effort ) I really truly loved that this was addressed and spoken about with curiosity and care 💖
Funny, I agree with Grandma. I hate the word queer and refuse to use it for self-identification (but I will use it if others identify that way). I much prefer "gay". My reasoning is that queer also means strange or odd, and I think being gay is as normal as being born naked 🤷♀ Nothing weird about me being gay.
@@sophiawells2005 gambling companies are required by law to use those taglines, It means nothing. If promoting gambling while saying "gamble responsibly" wasnt profitable, gambling companies would stop paying for these ads.
@ of course but no one is saying it isn’t profitable. of course promoting anything basically is going to be profitable but using those “taglines” means she isn’t telling ppl who already have an issue w gambling or are addicted to go gamble their life away. gambling in itself is not bad. it’s only bad if you have a problem w it, otherwise it’s a social gathering of sorts and it’s of personal choice.
33:00 Something I struggled with in my relationship early on! Placed a date, it was gross neither of us liked it and it really messed with my head. Relatable
as well as giving websites and phone numbers to reach out to if you have an issue w gambling? 😱 she’s not saying everyone should go gamble all the time- she promoted draft kings and then linked many ways to get help if you need it.
@@sophiawells2005I understand that resources for help were provided, which is great, but the core issue remains that promoting gambling can lead to serious addiction. Just because there are phone numbers for assistance doesn’t negate the potential harm caused by encouraging gambling.
@ promoting gambling does not lead to someone being addicted. the person and the gambling itself would be at fault for that. gambling isnt a bad thing, it’s not an awful thing to promote. if you know you have an addictive personality or that you have a problem w gambling then dont gamble. some ppl can gamble without becoming “seriously addicted”
I love all you guests. How do you get your guests to be on your podcast? Also, what is the author of the book you are reading, "Sunburn?". Is that the title? Also, what is the name of the book about lesbian nuns?
Don't know much about gambling but I'm glad shannon's audience has been so respectful about sharing their thoughts. Also amazing that she not only listened to the feedback but actually went out of her way to act and have it removed. That's such a healthy internet type relationship.
Scissoring is real - edge it and delay the orgasm and scissor. Yes, you can climax or make your girl climax. 🌈 Pandemic positive impact on Queer Self Realization + Boundary Building Quarantine, isolation, and having more time to ourselves did give us space and time for us to be who we really am in the inside. Staying open to relationships is critical in finding the right person because unless you date different kinds of people, you really don't know yourself.
I totally respect Shannon’s right to promote whatever she wants as social media is such hard work for so little financial benefits. Personally I forward to skip the read ads and use the Brave browser to skip the UA-cam ads. Win win for everyone.
Ok I listened, I loved 🥹 and I also felt like I was in a therapy session with you and Casey throughout. Going to order her book as I also feel like the defensiveness and people pleasing resonates with me and can impact how I’m showing up in relationships. Awesome episode, probably in my top 3 😊
she linked phone numbers and websites to help ppl who have a problem w gambling.. gambling isn’t a bad thing unless you’re addicted to it/you have a problem w it so why would that make you not want to watch?
I'm sorry but the adverts on this make this unwatchable. There has been five minutes of actual interview and two adverts from Shannon already. On top of the UA-cam adverts as well, which there's been three of already, one starting in the MIDDLE of Casey's sentence. I was so looking forward to Casey's insights, they are so interesting and I love the work she's doing. This is extremely disappointing.
Holy crap...the instant hate for promoting a certain type of company. There's like 10 comments and 7 are hate. But hey, you're pumping the algorithm by watching minutes after it going live and commenting, just FYI. Also, I couldn't care less. Get that dough Shannon ❤ Edit: then don't watch, unsub, don't comment, move on
I haven’t seen any hate at all, just people voicing concern or saying they can’t support an episode sponsored by gambling. No need for the extra dramatics.
Its not hate, its very valid criticism. Also people posting these comments dont care that they are "pumping the algorithm" because we dont mind supporting Shannon, we just dont like that shes promoting gambling
There's a difference between leaving hateful comments in bad faith and people simply expressing their opinion and providing reasons why they didn't like the ad.
Sorry Shannon, I love your podcast but I'm going to have to give this one a miss, I can't support the promotion of an online gambling company that profits from exploiting people's addictions. Gambling has the potential to ruin lives and families, plus addiction is a huge issue in the LGBTQ+ community. You've been sponsored by lots of other more ethical companies in the past, would love to see you stick with them!
i've never seen gambling ads on youtube before but i don't think it's inherently bad. yes there are legal requirements for resources etc., yes it can be triggering for people, but i feel like if the ad was for an alcohol (or even weed) company, it would be as much of a risk for folks in terms of addiction and triggering, but i'm not sure people would react like this? like, lots of youtubers drink on camera. i see ads for weed products and for like weird non-scientific nutritional supplements, and they don't seem to get hate but like. it's all advertising, it's trying to manipulate people, and depending on who you are, those products may be harmful to you. but hopefully you don't do everything an influencer says to do.
I’m far more interested in what by-design lesbians have to say about lesbian intimacy. Shannon, for example. Clearly a lesbian by-design and I find it very interesting what she has to say about lesbian sexuality. I think the sexuality of by-design lesbians and people who have “discovered” (for lack of better word) lesbianism later in life is very different. I think by-design lesbians are attracted to other women in a more raw, primitive, instinctual type way. I think by-design lesbians are more sexual and appreciative of female beauty.
