Did you have experiences calling someone else dad and that's where it came from? How exactly does it happen? (I'm way too anxious about how I call other people, and struggle with figuring it out. He's a really nice guy, and I knew it would make his day if I started calling him dad. But after calling his name so long it just felt awkward somehow (I was a stupid kid back then, so bear with me.) My brain just took that decision from my hand. I guess it must have been tired of working itself overtime and just went, "Screw it. You're calling him dad now." And I did. And it was the best gaffe I've ever made.

It would be seen as if a son were to just not call his dad "dad". Calling him "my stepson" gives context. What if he were to call him "son" at home but for this instance in particular he called him "my stepson"? You don't have enough information to logically deduce how he usually refers to his stepson.

As both an adoptive son, and a step son, I say with absolute confidence, that this moment was absolutely worth any and all heart warming. I literally have four different people who are my dad in a different way, but I have only called two of them my father.

As both an adoptive son, and a step son, I say with absolute confidence, that this moment was absolutely worth any and all heart warming. I literally have four different people who are my dad in a different way, but I have only called two of them my father.

@@michaelpopup when I was adopted, i learned my dad wasn't actually my bio dad, so I Have my bio, the person I spent the first 5 years of my life with, my adoptive dad, and my step dad.
