  • In this episode we are fly fishing for trout on the world-famous Yellowstone River in Montana. Just south of Livingston, Montana and north of Yellowstone National Park, We float the river in our sixteen-foot drift boat and use big Salmonfly dries and Caddis Dries to catch and release magnificent Yellowstone Cutthroat trout and a few Rainbows. We get advice and flies from the local Yellowstone Angler Fly Shop (www.yellowstoneangler.com/). We drift a section that we hope will have the best Salmonfly hatch going and we do hit it well. There are Salmonflies hatching and flying all over the bushes and us. What a blast!! I hope you enjoy this episode.

So glad you are enjoying this episode. It was such a fun float. We were feeling fortunate just to get to fish that day. We almost put the whole truck and trailer in the river. I backed the boat down and then pulled forward just a bit and then jumped out of the truck to help unload the boat and left the the truck in drive (Maybe 2nd gear) As we pulled the boat off Ladin goes. "Is the truck moving?" Sure enough the truck was slowly moving down the ramp. I jumped from behind the truck and fortunately had left the door open so was able to quickly put the brakes on and stop it from going too far. We did not have the cameras rolling.

@@FlyFishingwithLadin yeah that definitely would've been a bad omen if you weren't able to stop the truck and trailer from going into the river!! Happy that you were able to stop it and that nobody was hurt!! Steve had some good hops getting out of the boat with his pole in his hand and a fish on the line!! That definitely was a recap of him saving the truck & trailer debacle that the cameras weren't able to capture before the start of this episode!! It would've been some entertainment but scared for you guys at the same time!! I'm betting that everyone that watches the show and even ppl that haven't discovered your awesome show just yet, has gone through and/or has had that happen to them too (about the truck & trailer) but lots more ppl weren't as successful as you guys on stopping it!! So happy that you guys were able to save it and have a great show and still have great attitude and catch some fish!!! Very cool episode!! Always enjoyable to watch you guys dork out and having tons of fun catching fish!! Thanks for the enjoyment of your show!!!

Good point. Actually a mistake on mine part. It is a "Nine" foot 5 weight fly rod.

Pretty sure he meant to say 9 FT rod, and considering he can't land an 18" fish in a decent amount of time...yeah

That's a shame you had to break the line Steve!! Fish was smarter than the average bear, this time. I'm betting it wasn't it's 1st time doing that!!? Hopefully you get some redemption Steve!!?
