- The treble winners made an exciting start to their pre-season tour, winning an 8 goal thriller in the Japan National Stadium against Yokohama.
After trailing 2-0 City turned the match on its head with goals from Stones and Alvarez in the first half before Haaland got in on the act in the second half.
A stunner from Rodri was the pick of the goals as Man City start their pre-season with a win, next up is Bayern Munich in midweek.

Cancelo definitely seems to have learned his lesson because you can see he was trying really hard to be good and part of this team but credit to him he is a quality player but hopefully he’s been humbled by us winning without him and he can now get rid of any bad behaviour if there was any and move forward with the team

Rodri is definitely in his prime,his form workrate and efficiency is of a footballer who is on top of his game today,its his finest hour and its great to see a player at his very best.
Haaland's scanning on his first was exceptional. Also look how it was his movement that created a pocket of space for Rodri's goal. Class act.

honestly tho, Yokohama played quite well and the J league is imo a very underrated league which I have a lot of respect for
I dont think it's very underrated because there are so quite a few japanese players in the epl
knowing Japan national tea,m always do well in World Cup...I'm not surprising by their quality. I mean, of course technically and endurance, european players tend to be better, but the japanese team streght is their spirit, they will keep following, running and attacking, they do well in the counter attack scenario.

Rodri is easily one of the most clinical players of his generation. The fact he maintains that same composure with consistency, whether it’s on a friendly match or a champions league final, is true testament to his genius. This is the kind of man that can maintain greatness even after retirement, a sort of “Zizou”

That is the Pep effect. I remember very well how the media and some fans criticized Stones back in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Pep defended Stones in the media and the rest is history.

I think Kova played good, nothing major, but he's in good performance... I mean, I used to say Gundo performance was super inconsistent in the past (he goated in the last 5-10 games of the last 2 season tho), I still rated Kova a good play today, I expect nothing amazing happened on his debut. Rather than him, I'm annoyed more by Kalvi Philips and Palmer, my goodness these guys are ridiculous
These Yokohama guys are so so good. Nice to see Cancelo back, Bernardo with the new look, Foden with the over the shoulder control and the Haaland machine clicking again. Cant wait for this season to begin. CMON CITY!!!

Haaland goal is not an easy goal, he made it look easy...he using space between goalkeeper and defenders the pass just perfect and his timing to receive the ball is perfect too.. not an ordinary tap in
I think if cancelo is really sorry for whatever he did and ready to apologise to the manager and teammates then we should definitely give him a second chance .... There might be ego issues with him but he's too good of a player to let go.

I'm a diehard Barca fan, been it since 07 when I first watched football. I've obviously followed City a couple of years now since Guardiola is there. I've got to say it's been so delightful watching City play football, especially after last seasons triple. Such flair and persistence in their build up play. Wonderful game from everyone! Expected initial drop off due to late going into training and getting familiar, amazing second half. Great first game from Bobb, Kova, and Gomez on LW. Great improvement from KP. Cancelo mad good and has been less selfish. The japanese fans were very respectful as well as the players, heard no unnecessary booing - great start overall!

The team had problems on the left wing in both half. It's incredible how good Julián Alvarez is, who even has great performance with a midfield with zero assist capacity

No he’s not underrated as a city fan love him tho. He was regarded as one of Argentina’s best players in the WC last year
The dropoff from City's starting 11 to the bench players is massive. Gone are the days when Pep could rotate the squad every week and maintain the same level. Only Julian Alvarez looked anywhere near the first team, and I don't really count him as a bench player. Even Ortega who was the best keeper in the Prem in the final month had a day to forget. Methinks the Haaland transition weakened City's ability to play a system stronger than the sum of its individual players.
Alvarez must play regularly this season. No disrespect and unpopular opinion but he has more raw skill than Bernardo or Grealish up front.
Tap in at the end was insane! The pass! The awareness by Haaland and positioning. World class.

Haaland always plays with the best pitchers, assistants, I think Alvarez is more impressive, who has to play with a weaker midfielder and always has a great performance, when he plays with De Bruyne and Rodri, he is even better striker.

Yokohama was competitive until late in the game. Considering what happen with Al Nassr (Saudi Pro League) vs Celta de Vigo (La Liga) (0-5)and Arsenal (2nd best team in English Premiere League) (5-0) vs MLS All-Stars (US Major League Soccer All Star Team), it seems the J League (Japanese League) can give UEFA Champion League Champions (Man City) some competition. The Saudi Arabian and United States Professional Soccer players are a little behind the Japanese and a lot behind the European.
