I grow my chives, onions, garlic and leeks around the perimeter of my garden. It does wonders for keeping bugs out. Also, around plants that are more susceptible, grow oregano, sage and other herbs inter-planted among them. Works for me as I haven't had aphids in years since applying these methods. .
John, I think I left this tip for insect control on your channel once before. It works great for most little sucking bugs like aphids, thrips, white flies, mealy bugs, etc. For over 35 years I have used Full Strength, Whole Milk in a pump pressurized garden sprayer. The lactose in the milk plugs up the breathing apparatus which is located in their feet / legs and suffocates them. Safe, natural, non-toxic, inexpensive, and just wash it off after the critters are dead.
My question is which is che as per at the moment? However, even if it is cheaper to buy the Dr. Z, plastic is a big deal in our oceans and I can get milk locally and avoid plastic bottles that are only recycled a fee times. I'd pay more for Dr. Z's if it came in glass and was still cheaper than milk.
@@donnaz1961 I usually try to spray early in the day when it is not so hot. I will wait a day or two and use a strong water spray from my garden hose, spray off the dead insect bodies and milk residue and watch for them to re-appear in a couple days, repeat as needed.
I think the free shipping was part of a special offer. I order the free sample and now is 7 dollars for shipping. I appreciate you videos. I have learned a lot as a beginner. I start great in spring and the bugs attacked and I am still in the battle with Neem and soap.
Feed egg shells ( after washed and then sterilized in an oven at 375 degrees for 10 minutes). The worms make amino acid chelated minerals out of metals. They also make an enzyme called chitinase which eats the exoskeletons of aphids. Aphids fly the other way from chitinase.
Thank you for the advise. I believe you can agree, the bugs and pests in Florida are much more prolific than anywhere else. Having been a military family and grown gardens all over the world, I can state that as fact. True, it’s expensive but when you invest several hundreds on other products that work in other areas but, just don’t here, it’s wonderful to learn from you.
I got a bottle of Calcium sulphate from the garden store for fungal issues on fruit trees. It's supposed to kill aphids, too. That's because it's basically a lime-sulphur application, and while not on the label, the same strength compound has been used as a soil ammendment for calcium and sulphur. It can also boost acidity, although it metabolises out from studies I've seen. This use as a fertilizer was particularly convenient, as I've seen planting your potatoes in sulphur was a good idea, and I'm just putting them down.
I like the "regular" neem oil and salsuds still... I also make a pepper spray...aphids, ants...cant stand it. But the neem and salsuds into that same Hudson fogger you two guys used a few years back...that thing is awesome on everything including powdery mildew..
A tip for rose from owner of long time nursery (retired now)in Tuscon az. He said just spray every morning with water. I think the morning part important to allow plant to dry before night fall which would encourage mildew or fungus. They grew beautiful roses. Many other plants as well.
Need to spray more than once for Aphids. From their instructions: "When combating mites, thrips, aphids and fungus gnats we recommend using 3 days in a row, then once weekly. Continue until you see no sign of pests."
OhioGardener - I hope you can answer my question. When I've sprayed 3 days in a row, or even two days in a row, sometimes my soil grows the white fungus. Is that just a coincidence because my plant has other problems? Is it normal to spray 3 times and not see fungus? It seems rare for me.

I have used this product & it works great but you have to spray thoroughly & repeat a few times, at least, for outbreaks. Weekly preventative sprays work best! Then no more outbreaks!

What sort of safety testing has been done on this substance or the active ingredients. For decades glyphosate was also believed to dissipate harmlessly.
Awesome channel man. I was using a cinnamon bark oil and dish detergent mixture and was looking for something else. You had me at spider mites, those little mothers.
yes the only option. really important to start w/ a weak solution and always right when dark cycle starts. pull buds apart and get in the crevices. its my secret to prevent bud rot and pm in my insanely humid climate.
everyone misses that. im waiting for my water to cool down to 90 rightnow lol. i got fungus gnats. gonna zymes them for 3 days then let the rootzone dry completly out and hit them with azomax, done deal.
If I was to alternate Dr Z with another foliar weekly, would they possibly react negatively with each other? Or in your experience, is it even necessary to use other products? Is one week enough time to not worry? Also they say to use with warm water. Is that key with the good doctor?
I just typed where are all the lady bugs and you said you could release lady bugs. Lol. I rarely have had luck with organic pesticide. High pressure water seems to work the best. I released lady bugs in a green house and they still didn’t work. You need to breed them in your greenhouse to get them to work. A very little soap in late evening with the high pressure water works pretty good. The next day it will just rinse off. It’s safe enough to bath in so I’m confident it won’t hurt anything.
Hi john Im A new learning gardener here in Central Florida. Im trying to grow in container and keep most in my screened in pool deck mostly full sun. To help me with pest and little critters from eating my plants. I don't know what bugs are good bugs for my environment so I'm nervous when I see any activity in my pool screened area at all. With all that said I woke up to finding spiders webbing all over them not sure if they are black widows and black ants all over . Can you tell me if I should leave these insects alone for any benefit or should I treat with something organic please help a newbie
You said Sal's Suds clogs the stomata?? I literally purchased that product for the exact purpose of unclogging stomata. I'm so confused someone please help me understand. I don't want my plants to suffocate from the oils I've been using!
Hey John, I am loving your informative videos. Have you done any current research on Natural & Organic pesticides that work? Or do you still recommend "Super Clean Neem" and "The Amazing Dr. Zymes Eliminator Insecticide Fungicide?"
You ever do pyrethrin insecticide JK? Apparently it's biodegradable and can be omri listed, conforms to organic regulations. Appreciate your input. Thanks for your wealth of info!

From Lil Giant I read the report in the link below. What a bunch of trash. This report discriminates against Israel, wielding the full weight of the UN against Israel, using the so-called persecution of Pakistan as an excuse, and lying their buns off. Then, when Heavenly Father continually defends Israel, through their own efforts to defend to themselves , and especially with the miracle of the Seven Day War, they complain about the David who continually holds out against Goliath. Economic persecution is just one more way of discriminating against Israel. I am reminded of the way the twelve tribes hated Joseph, were jealous of him, and tried to get rid of him. Except this time it is Judah, who holds the scepter til Christ come.
I have used Captain Jacks deadbug with great success, I was looking into Doctor Zymes but I don't think it matches with Deadbug. It would be nice if you could do a comparison video between the both. I think Captain Jacks Deadbug is the better product
Yes, international shipping to Finland is too much. It was 83 dollars for FedEx Economy shipping, and only 10 dollars for the cheapest product (after John's 25% discount). The company should look into that if they want customers outside the US.
Chris-I buy from Vitacost.com. They ship any weight for free with orders over $49.00 and their prices are better than Amazon or garden stores. I bought an organic neem oil for gardens and Dr Bonners there last year. (Hopefully they'll have it this year too.)Pick up a few bars of organic soap or fluoride free toothpaste, toiletries and its easy to get to $49.00.
I used this on my cannabis plants and it caused phtotoxicity. It works but damn its strong. It works on aphids. I applied at night. This stuff isnt new. I used it last year. Another product im waiting on is wizards brew. All organic too.
Product Description: A fermentation product made from a proprietary blend, Citric Acid. Contains no hazardous chemicals. www.doctorzymes.com/docs/1118/SDS%20Eliminator%20Ready%20to%20Use.pdf General info about citric acid: www3.epa.gov/pesticides/chem_search/reg_actions/reregistration/fs_G-23_1-Jun-92.pdf Apparently they ferment a specific blend of things, to make the citric acid function how they are marketing it. Citric Acid on it's own, might work, but might not function identical to Doctor Zyme. I have previously never heard of using citric acid or doctor zyme, so I have some research to do. www.doctorzymes.com/pesticide-free-insecticide.php

I just what to thanks you for the helpful tip that you share on your videos👌😁
What do you think of the Bale buster gardening?
What sort of safety testing has been done on this substance or the active ingredients. For decades glyphosate was also believed to dissipate harmlessly.
Aphids only go for my brassicas. Until now, I've just pulled them in time for my summer plants. I may give this a go.
Awesome channel man. I was using a cinnamon bark oil and dish detergent mixture and was looking for something else. You had me at spider mites, those little mothers.
is this stuff safe for a flowering cannabis plant???
yes the only option. really important to start w/ a weak solution and always right when dark cycle starts. pull buds apart and get in the crevices. its my secret to prevent bud rot and pm in my insanely humid climate.
What about using cold press orange oil?
try lady bug attracting flowers.!!
lady bug larva love aphids.!
predator insects cut down on the need of foliage sprays.
@@ckhenson is it helping with the pests.?
i think it helps a lot here.!
Heat your water to 90 degrees then add Dr. Zymes...It helps activate the Dr. Zymes
everyone misses that. im waiting for my water to cool down to 90 rightnow lol. i got fungus gnats. gonna zymes them for 3 days then let the rootzone dry completly out and hit them with azomax, done deal.
If I was to alternate Dr Z with another foliar weekly, would they possibly react negatively with each other? Or in your experience, is it even necessary to use other products? Is one week enough time to not worry?
Also they say to use with warm water. Is that key with the good doctor?
Neem works well too
What about the Ladybugs? Are they not efficient enough? Because when they spot a lot of food source they lay eggs...?
I just typed where are all the lady bugs and you said you could release lady bugs. Lol. I rarely have had luck with organic pesticide. High pressure water seems to work the best. I released lady bugs in a green house and they still didn’t work. You need to breed them in your greenhouse to get them to work. A very little soap in late evening with the high pressure water works pretty good. The next day it will just rinse off. It’s safe enough to bath in so I’m confident it won’t hurt anything.
I just tried to order a gallon with the coupon code, but it isn't working.
Will work with powdery mildew?
Hi john Im A new learning gardener here in Central Florida. Im trying to grow in container and keep most in my screened in pool deck mostly full sun.
To help me with pest and little critters from eating my plants. I don't know what bugs are good bugs for my environment so I'm nervous when I see any activity in my pool screened area at all. With all that said I woke up to finding spiders webbing all over them not sure if they are black widows and black ants all over . Can you tell me if I should leave these insects alone for any benefit or should I treat with something organic please help a newbie
Awesome. Thanx john. Waiting on my samples 👍
is that the measuring cup from your juicer?
Works great for my outdoor girls and I don’t use much lol need a bigger spray bottle
You said Sal's Suds clogs the stomata?? I literally purchased that product for the exact purpose of unclogging stomata. I'm so confused someone please help me understand. I don't want my plants to suffocate from the oils I've been using!
I HATE bugs and aphids. And I've got Dr. Bonners and Garden Neem oil! Wahoo!
Thanks for your tips
I would not say anything but I am a Texas Master Gardener, might also try ARBICO you can get pheromone strips
Where is the samples offer on the web site John?
Love your motives❤️‼️
Hey John, I am loving your informative videos. Have you done any current research on Natural & Organic pesticides that work? Or do you still recommend "Super Clean Neem" and "The Amazing Dr. Zymes Eliminator Insecticide Fungicide?"
Does it treat for leaf miners?
hey John, whats your pendant made out of...reminds me of a shungite magnet i have.
Thanks SO MUCH John!!! 😎👍
You ever do pyrethrin insecticide JK? Apparently it's biodegradable and can be omri listed, conforms to organic regulations. Appreciate your input. Thanks for your wealth of info!
Thanks for sharing
I don't wish spider mites on you, but I would like to see how well it works on them. If you do get an infestation, please let us know how it works on spider mites. What's your opinion on Safer insecticidal soap? Thanks.
I have paper plants inside an I keep getting them. I take the plants outside an use neemoil but they keep coming back
Still lovin it John! Thank you
Sounds like a great product!
I don't see a free sample offered on their website.
send them an email, they'll also answer any questions you may have. They did for me, great company and product
would it work for anthracnose?
Darn i wish there was a link for the backpack 🎒 sprayer lol..can anyone provide a link?😁
can be use on Quaba or longan, lychee tree
Will this or neem oil work on stink bugs? Starting to get them here in WA.
Thank you for your videos. Really great info!
Kelly Hamilton I personally found it to be effective on stink bugs, as long as it actually contacts their bodies.
@@THEmbs1255 Thank you so much! I will try it.
I use Dr Bronners Castile soap.
That castile soap was created by and still owned by zionist eugenisists
@@grumpytroll3071 thanks for the intel...here is an article explaining the connection: www.maryscullyreports.com/dr-bronners-soap-and-apartheid-israel-you-cant-wash-ethnic-cleansing-away-with-organic-olive-oil-soap/
Captain Jack's Deadbug for aphids? That's not a pest listed on the label. From what I recall Spinosad won't touch aphids. But I could be wrong.
you cant use it in late flower on yor canna plants like you can with dr zymes though lol
Man that's how it was growing in FLA! Rough times! So happy to be back in MD ❤️ just can't afford land :/
Going to give it a try.
Can I spray on my figues trees
Thanks for the recommendation John. I bought some. Their FedEx shipping costs more than the product itself. This is super frustrating.
Chris Alexander don’t you wish they would send a small amount you could mix in water. It would make more sense.
Yes, international shipping to Finland is too much. It was 83 dollars for FedEx Economy shipping, and only 10 dollars for the cheapest product (after John's 25% discount). The company should look into that if they want customers outside the US.
I got my local garden store to order it for me!👍🏻
Chris-I buy from Vitacost.com.
Ask for a sample. Theyll ship you some
I love their lines. I use their myco.
Br00tal Cabbage
Does this stuff affect myco? That was my big question
Can I use it during flower?
yes. i used it after chop for pm even
I used this on my cannabis plants and it caused phtotoxicity. It works but damn its strong. It works on aphids. I applied at night. This stuff isnt new. I used it last year. Another product im waiting on is wizards brew. All organic too.
Its just citric acid ). Its good tho. Its organic. Avoid citric acid that isnt organic. Otherwse its usu gmo sourced
Product Description: A fermentation product made from a proprietary blend, Citric Acid. Contains no
hazardous chemicals.

General info about citric acid:
www3.epa.gov/pesticides/chem_search/reg_actions/reregistration/fs_G-23_1-Jun-92.pdf
Apparently they ferment a specific blend of things, to make the citric acid function how they are marketing it. Citric Acid on it's own, might work, but might not function identical to Doctor Zyme. I have previously never heard of using citric acid or doctor zyme, so I have some research to do.

Much citric acid is sourced from China....
If you trust the Chinese communist party with your plants I guess it's fine.
@@ryanjohnson5266
Citric acid comes from China...
@@GardenerEarthGuy china's problem is something else, i was referring to the fact that "non organic" or "gmo sourced" citric acid makes as much sense as "free ranged salt"
Gardener Earth Guy by that theory just about everything comes from China?
Try eating the aphids, quite delicious, sweet actually. They are like dessert after you green up.
Can i use citronella oil instead of neem oil?
I'm very new to gardening and I don't like icky bugs on my food while it's growing, so I found the website doctorzymes.com but it only takes PayPal which I don't use and the shipping is over $20. I guess I'm used to free shipping with Amazon. I looked on Amazon and Lowes websites, they don't have this product.
Citrus Enzyme spray
This stuff worked better than anything else I tried and it was really cheap to make. I don’t think the yeast will show up as a microbial when the weed is tested but you’d better check with someone who knows more than me about it.
I re-read the recipe for citrus enzyme and decided that I really didn't follow it well as I needed a lot more of it than the recipe called for so here's what I did and it worked great. It smells exactly like Dr. Zymes.
* (16 lemons and 6 oranges made about a gallon.)
Blender loosely full of lemon and orange peals.
* Fill 3/4 with water
*Add tablespoon of active dry yeast (regular bread yeast)
*Add 1/4 cup brown sugar per blender full.
Blend until the peals get kinda pukey looking
Repeat until you're out of orange and lemon peals dumping the blended junk in a large glass container. Should be about 1/3 ground up lemons and 2/3 water + -.
Loosely cover and apply tape with a date two weeks from now
Stir daily, leave cover on loosely
Strain through progressively finer screens until your down to coffee filter (I bought a "cold brew coffee apparatus, had a nice fine screen about $8)
This stuff should smell kinda lemony, certainly doesn’t smell bad.
Add 1 cup Apple cider vinegar per quart of “juice” to kill the yeast
Mix one cup enzyme juice per gallon with water, spray every day for 3 days.
I couldn't find a living bug no matter how hard I looked under the microscope on previously heavily infested plants. The plants seemed to like the fermented juice as foliar fertilizer too.
Use fermented peal waste as a top dress around plants.
The ferment ended up a clear/amber color with a ½" of cloudy stuff on the bottom of the jars I stored it in. This cloudy stuff went right through the atomizer with no problem.
@@Gcanno Awesome. I will try it. Thank you.
Can you use this on Kale? Have you ever tried Diatomaceous earth?
There is a video made in 2014 you can check out
Why "no surfactant" ? What would be so deleterious about having any leftover surfactant such as aloe, yucca or Transport in the container ?
Dude the active ingredient was only like 3% so the other 97% is surfactants etc.
