    Just bought a K40 and even though my son in law has one, this tutorial is great, you have explained it very clearly thank you.

    Thank you for this! To be honest, I have a k40 that arrived three weeks ago and I haven't been able to set it up yet because I don't know how (and the damn instructions are hard to read). Thank you for these instructions!

    An informative video thank you. I am trying to get K40 whisperer working but I cannot get it to recognize that the K40 is there. I have tried the usb port with other devices and a new cable but no joy. Is there some way to test that the USB port on the NanoM2 board is functioning?

  • @seafood459

    Awesome video!
    What's your opinion on meerK40t? Is it better than k40 whisperer since you can do pulse modulation and integration with lightburn on the stock board? (also you can hook up a camera to position the burn more correctly)

    I've just received my K40 yesterday and the first thing I found wrong is the X part of the gantery that the laser head runs on is way out of square with the rest of the gantry. It looks like the X axis of the gantery needs to be moved on one side by about 10mm to get it square to to rest of the gantery. My question is, is possible to mess about with the belt and pulley on one side to square it up.
    I enjoyed this video and am looking forward to the rest of your videos.
    Many thanks.

    • @Uniquelymade
      @Uniquelymade  5 років тому +1

      Hi,
      I have just moved and don't have my machine with me yet but it should be doable to take the motor off under the second mirror mount and take the belt off to move the axis individually.
      But once again I sadly can't check right now.

  • @D3xt3rity

    Hey! I know this is an old video so you probably wont see this but I just wanted to ask if you need an air compresser and what the exhaust from the machine is for and does it need to go outside?
    Also can the machine cut wood and Acrylic! :D
    Thanks! :D

    • @Uniquelymade
      @Uniquelymade  2 роки тому

      So I am now using an airbrush compressor to blow air away from the Laser Lense.
      The exhaust is the burned material and it needs to go outside or be filtered as it is toxic

    • @Uniquelymade
      @Uniquelymade  2 роки тому

      It can cut wood and acrylic to 3mm well. Thicker will also work but takes multiple passes and maybe some tricks

  • @TheRainHarvester
    @TheRainHarvester 5 років тому +1

    If your tape leaves residues from the sticky substance, I saw people use post-it notes.
    What power percentage do you run the laser at? Thanks for keeping us updated on this laser, I'm eager to see how long it works, especially the tube.

    • @Uniquelymade
      @Uniquelymade  5 років тому

      Sticky notes would have been the smart choice now that I think about it..... :D I used like 20% for engraving and 60% for cutting in multiple steps

    • @TheRainHarvester
      @TheRainHarvester 5 років тому

      Uniquelymade , that is a good percentage for tube life. What material and thickness did you cut? How many passes? I would like to cut 7.5 mm plexiglass, eventually.

    • @Uniquelymade
      @Uniquelymade  5 років тому

      im not sure its up for that... I cut 3mm acrylik at around 60% with 15mm/sec in two passes. But I haven't experimented enough yet.
      I'll cut a ton of boxes pretty soon and try to figure out good settings for 3mm mdf. Afterwards ill take it from there to adapt for different materials and thicknesses

    You should always use as pure of alcohol as you can get. Do not use window cleaner. Also only use 100% cotton balls to wipe and buff the mirrors. I use 100% alcohol that i buy from the local hardware store labeled as Camp fuel. This is what i use to clean the mirrors on an industrial CO2 laser.
