The slapping sounded like a motor snap with the snap on the "downbeat" and the "and", and the slap on the "ee's" and "da's". Anyone agree? Great video BTW!

Thanks Greg. One thing that stands out: in the official sheet music (distributed by Sony/Warner), the chromatic walk you did on measure 18 is not a C, C#, D, but a B, C, then the D. So instead of frets 1-2-3 on the B string, they call for 0-1-3. I know with notes this low it's hard to hear the difference, but that's how they annotated it.
Otherwise this was super helpful - some of those bass fills are so fast they're easy to mess up, and I appreciate you taking the time to put this together.

Thank for this great Cover/Lesson. This song for me has a steep learning curve. It took me many playthoughs and a few hrs to get it down pat. Now I can play it in my sleep lol. Your tone here is fantastic. Are you using any plugins, effects, or compression on your bass? Or are you playing straight into a DI?
Hey Matthew, congratulations. It's always a great feeling to accomplish something ;) I use Garageband. I definitely use some compression, but other than that, just some EQ and maybe an Bass Amp simulator. I find too many effects on bass makes it really "muddy" sounding. I hope that helps...thanks!

Hey Greg thanks for the awesome work you did on this transcript of Bruno Mars Uptown Funk, loved it! Also it would be great if you could do it again on a 4 string bass. I'm working on my slap and pop technique and trying to get it clean and tight as yours is a challenge. Cheers mate! Tony from down under.
All the slapping is done on the upper 4 strings, so you're good to go to keep working on your slapping. Good luck and have fun! :)
I just discovered you yesterday and I love your covers! My eyes are glued to the screen, watching the chart and tabs go by and hoping I don't miss your slaps. :) I was curious how amazing creators as yourself get around the copyright concerns. Hi Arabella, thanks for the comment. There's really no "getting around" the copyright. Either the publisher allows YT to show the video and they receive all monetization from it or they don't and the video gets blocked. That's it. There have been times where I've done a video for a cover that's been blocked while the same song can be covered by others and it won't be blocked? I'm not quite sure how that process works? I do know that any revenue generated from the video goes to the publisher. I hope that answers your question...thanks and good luck with your channel :)

Great lesson Greg.... I am learning this on a four string bass and I find that drop D tuning (of the E string) resolves all the issues of not sounding deep enough 🤷

It sounds like you pluck a string in the slap parts, is that correct?
It isn't in the tab but the sound is definitely there...
Yes, I'm sure I'm plucking some of the parts. Notating slap bass can be tricky because there are so many different ways to get a sound and a lot of them sound similar. So unless, I'm really sure it's a pop, pluck, slap, tap, hammer, etc...I just go with what sounds close and feels good. Once you've got the rhythm and notes, experiment with your slap hand. Hope that helps...thanks!

I just did and the third note of the slap part sounds like what I described as a ‘pluck’ but think is called a ‘pop’ now you mention it.
Quite difficult with the fast space on the song and because it’s a pop on the A string, while I’m only used to do those on the high E.
