This was the closest to Metroid we had on the Master System, and not only did it a damn good job at being like Metroid, but being a good game in its own right. SEGA should bring this series back.
Doesn't have to be Sega anymore to remix or revive this game, it's also a cartoon series, could'vebeena 3D VR RPG or First-person play , the song track bgm origated by a female japanese music artist, a song called PUSH.
If they did it would probably sell like crap and would be a big financial loss for the company. How many people out there are hard core gamers like you and I that even know this game exists?
Very commendable 8-bit version of the anime's opening. Just listen to how accurate and organised the entirety of this tune is. The composer outdid himself.
me too Brazil here I wanted to know who scored this adaptation to MIDI sound of the opening zillion cartoon theme he deserves an award, for this and for all the music in this game freaking awesome!!! I used to play this game the whole day just because of the song and I would just leave it turned on while JJ is outdoors to here this specific tune touching!!!
It's so funny--I never knew this song actually had lyrics way back then. When I heard the anime version I lost my mind. . . Awesome soundtrack to a classic game. . .
Awesome! I always thought the music for Zillion rocked, but it wasn't until year later that I found that they were based on the Anime sound track...some of which had vocals!
That's what I miss the most from today's games: A good soundtrack. Except from castlevania and some other rare exceptions, modern games lack this emotional, well crafted music... If it was not the soundtrack, I wouldn't even remember some games. Zillion rocks.
Don't worry, your English doesn't look bad. I appreciate people from an international community leaving comments too, even if they can't speak English at all and just post in their native language. :)
I have to thank you for uploading this gem! This brings back so many good memories playing Zillion with my dad, I on the controller and him mapping out the mazes in the grid section of the game manual. Pure Stone, to this day is one of my all time favorite video game tracks. Is there any way you could email me the sound files so I can listen to them anytime? Again, thanks so much for posting this!
At the time I thought it was the Saber Rider And The Star Sheriff video game, everything was similar from the characters to the ship. But the gameplay... aarrgghh!!!
Michael Beard's front room in the 80s, 3 or 4 of cross-legged on the carpet, within blinding-range of the TV, taking turns to play this game while his mum made Pot Noodles for us. Growing up on a council estate in London was not always bad.
BabyFacedAssassin301 it’s actually not that hard if you have a map. I never beat it when i was a kid but recently I played it on emulator with a map and beat it on the first try. This game brings back memories.
I would not worry about languages. Today, we can type on our native languages and just translate in any website or software. The translation given might not be perfect, but one can get the main point of the text.
i'm home fellow nerds! i remember this and thought the soundtrack was stellar. Now i'm older and its not the 80's.Theres still a play for it in my heart though hahaah!
First played when I was I think 15, and I'm 18 now. I didn't have a SEGA Master System until I was 14, but had a Genesis from birth. I have to say, this is a WAY better game than the original Metroid for the NES, so much better design and gameplay. If only Zillion 2 was this good. Have you watched the anime by the way?
Pretty awesome chiptune version of the opening. This game, Sonic, Astro Warrior and Phantasy Star makes me like the american sms sound chip more than the nes and than the mark-III.
Why hasn't anyone tried mashing the original opening with this 8-bit cover? EDIT: my prayers have been answered: ua-cam.com/video/t1DqfuGzExs/v-deo.html

The problem is that this game was good..the sequel wasn't that great.
the sequel was awesomr in its way but dont forget the 1st one also have major Impossible mission vibe

Yup. I was in love with the music in this game as a kid. And to be perfectly honest I never got to play Metroid as a kid.
This track makes me mourn my childhood...lol
This track gets stuck in my head often. Childhood memories
Same here

As scaled back as this sounds, it still has a lot of soul.
No kidding.
probably sounds even better on the master system that had the FM chip
Yeah, I say it does a good job covering the original which you can hear here: ua-cam.com/video/Y6zdonhQSEk/v-deo.html

My childhood!!!!! Me and my cousins would play this for hours, finish the game, and play it all over again. Zillion 2 was just as awesome
Awesome!! One of my favorite Master system games!! Nostalgia man...
It's so funny--I never knew this song actually had lyrics way back then. When I heard the anime version I lost my mind. . .

I can honestly say I remember when my brother bought this game brand new! We loved the heck out of Zillion!

@VikutaaChyaaruzu interesting....cool!
@LashSB Not really; the weapons were based off of it as a "promotional" tie-in.
Lol I still need to beat this game...I always wondered why they had the Sega Light Phasers for weapons
This song was playing in my buddies game store while I was taking a dump. My crap came out hella hard, it was Pure Stone
But right before this ... increases the songs POW
Yes I'm old! :-)
play this ASAP!!!
its really hard though

I could never get past the first few levels of this game. But I guess when you're 5 years old its a difficult thing to do.
Do they have this on music CD? I'd like to buy it
❤️

catchiest 8 bit tune ever!
this was always a favorite of mines.
never played the game, but i loved the anime, save me apple
all you needed for this game was a pen and some paper to write down the symbols, those where the days.
One night, I was literally jumping back into the ship-about 16 pixels away from winning-and the timer ran out.
could you do the music that transpires when you go through an enemy security neam can't find that MPEG anywhere!!!
that's like just an alarm or something
This tune has been remixed, Im sure its a hip hop or RnB tune now.... Please help, its driving me crazy.
:)
I wish I can go back to 1987,get my Zillion on,and get it on with my then GF.
Why hasn't anyone tried mashing the original opening with this 8-bit cover?
