Jon! This feels amazing. Thank you so much!!! This is so much fun and rewarding to share experience with like minded people 😍 Keep the questions and comments coming. I truly enjoy producing the videos and getting better and better at it 🤞💯
@@MarionandFred thanks for asking. I’m running everyday and doing the stationary bike. Jojo and I are biking in the local rail to trail 15-23 miles a day right now. It’s supposed to rain shortly so this may be a zero day for that. What is the next big adventure for you two?
I agree with the fact that the Basin is a great experience! I came through southbound in mid August last year, and think it was one of the highlights of my Whitefish to Rawlins trip, but I can see where somehow missing one of the water sources could make for uncomfortable times. I've been glued to your Divide episodes to this point, as next year I'm planning to ride from the southern border to Rawlins to almost complete my Divide experience (will still need to pick up the miles north of Whitefish that were off limits due to fire and covid restrictions last summer).
Oh wow, thanks Tracy! We got you glued to the Divide 😜 Marion was also worried about water, we made it in one day without refills. You ll see in the next one … stay tuned 😀
Thank you for another great video. Waiting the next three weeks for my start is going to be painful. I do have a question about food storage. What did you use to store your food? I bougt an Ursack for when I get up north, but it is bulky and was thinking of pickup it when I visit family in northern Colorado. I'm confident in protecting black bears from my food, but never wild camped in grizzly bear country.
Hello Jeff, we did not end up camping after the tragic incident in Ovando last year. It just really scared us at the time. It all depends on your setup of course. If you have a tailfin rack, it is much easier to take your bag on and off. So you could repurpose it to store food. Just an idea. We had a saddle bag, can just take you a little more time to get set up again. Hope this helps!
What do you carry on the bike to snack on while riding? You are vegan / plant-based, correct? I see Marion eating something in this video, but can’t tell what it is. Great video, I’m really enjoying your series! Thanks for sharing!
That feels great to hear! Generally speaking we try to stick to a vegan diet on these trips as much as we can. Sometimes gotta go vegetarian. We carry tortillas, vegan refried beans, hot sauce - jam, almond butter (for breakfast) - mixed nuts, sometimes we would strap some salad, veggies on the saddle bag when we left towns. Also carry granola bars. I carry a lot of Cliff Bars as well like 20-30 or so to be always able to balance my blood sugar (I am diabetic type I). Hope this helps…
Thanks for to share this great experience !!!
Of course. Glad you like it. Gotta get back working on the next one. Was just so incredibly busy in the last weeks.
Loved the video and the Basin is one of my favorite places to ride on the GD. Have fun. sandra

We rode through an area full of sage brush and after a rain the smell was amazing. Maybe that's what you were smelling.
