    You literally opened up a whole new world for me, 3 days after I finished an interior environment concept. I hate myself for not having looked for perspective lines before drawing empirically, but I’m glad I’ve found this. Better late than never I guess.

    I wanted to thank you for the way you shoot your videos with a camera instead of just a screenshot view. For me they are more informative when I can see your hands. Thank you!

      +Steve Seidl thanks for the comment. I've watched a few videos of a people creating and I found the traditional mediums most interesting because you see the persons hands, so I thought I'd do the same with digital. Really glad you enjoyed it 😊

    Wow, I'm glad this exists. I just got my iPad, and I'm waiting for the apple pencil. I think I'll definitely be making use of this feature.

      great I am really pleased. I keep forgetting about the split screen, I really should use it myself!!

      I have the 9 in pro so it's a little harder, but since this was kind of a good sandbox example it was easier to go through it.
      Btw I just for the hell of it checked and you can quick assign perspective assist to the quick actions they recently added.

    Thank you so much, James. So useful and clear. I had tried to to do something with the tool, but had not taken into account the perpsective button on the layer...now I can get it...so well sticked lines...!!!! Powerful and beautiful result.
    Kind regards from Bilbao Spain. Rosa

    I just bought this feature and was really confused but this helps so much! Thank you!
    Also you can just hold down the colour icon and itll take you back to the previous colour,do the same to get back to the new colour instead of the eyedropper :)

  • @pesto12601
    @pesto12601 6 років тому +3

    Hopefully they make using the perspective tool a bit easier... erasing all those lines makes things a bit wonky and is a lot of work. would be nice if you could just touch a line and have it delete everything except intersects... should be easy to code that...

    Your tutorials are the best and my goto. In this one, the background music is very distracting and makes it difficult to hear your instruction. Thanks for all you do.

      Fabrice bouillaud thank you! I haven’t given it a title lol I composed it in garage band myself 😊

    Hi James, amazing demo of the "Perspective Guide"! I actually watched another demo of this before I watched yours. Yours is way, way better.
    I found the drag & drop colour fill interesting & potentially (from a newbie's point of view) very useful. Just one question about your use of it; why do you use your finger, rather than the Pencil, which is in your hand?

    • @JamesJulier-Artist
      @JamesJulier-Artist  7 років тому +1

      Thank Colin. I find sometimes the pencil is not great at selecting buttons etc and my finger is more reliable

  • @gregsteele806
    @gregsteele806 8 років тому

    Thanks for the video. Very helpful. It seems like it would be faster to put your guides on one layer. Make it nearly transparent, and then do your detail work on a separate layer. Imagine sketching with a pencil, then going back over it with ink. It would save a lot of erasing and give a cleaner final product.

    • @JamesJulier-Artist
      @JamesJulier-Artist  8 років тому

      +Greg Steele yes definitely that would give a better result, this was my first experiment with the perspective assist and so I thought I would make a video of it :)

    Tutorial on how to make brushes? Need to make skin brush, also love walk through tutorials on complete paintings. No pressure, lol

      +Anna Lee haha well I have done a walk through for one of my paintings, but the commentary was added after completing the painting. I am working on paintings next that show me actually working on the painting like in this video, but they take a while to paint and then edit....soon hopefully lol

    As a serious calligrapher i would like to create some layers with both pre ruled lines ans slope lines at various degrees of slope. Can i use the perspective tool to achieve that?

    • @JamesJulier-Artist
      @JamesJulier-Artist  8 років тому +1

      +Judi Hopewell I guess you can insert a grid on a background layer the use it however you want, distort it etc. Most things can be done, just need a little thinking around to make them suit :)
