You literally opened up a whole new world for me, 3 days after I finished an interior environment concept. I hate myself for not having looked for perspective lines before drawing empirically, but I’m glad I’ve found this. Better late than never I guess.
I wanted to thank you for the way you shoot your videos with a camera instead of just a screenshot view. For me they are more informative when I can see your hands. Thank you!
+Steve Seidl thanks for the comment. I've watched a few videos of a people creating and I found the traditional mediums most interesting because you see the persons hands, so I thought I'd do the same with digital. Really glad you enjoyed it 😊
I have the 9 in pro so it's a little harder, but since this was kind of a good sandbox example it was easier to go through it. Btw I just for the hell of it checked and you can quick assign perspective assist to the quick actions they recently added.
Thank you so much, James. So useful and clear. I had tried to to do something with the tool, but had not taken into account the perpsective button on the layer...now I can get it...so well sticked lines...!!!! Powerful and beautiful result. Kind regards from Bilbao Spain. Rosa
I just bought this feature and was really confused but this helps so much! Thank you! Also you can just hold down the colour icon and itll take you back to the previous colour,do the same to get back to the new colour instead of the eyedropper :)
Hopefully they make using the perspective tool a bit easier... erasing all those lines makes things a bit wonky and is a lot of work. would be nice if you could just touch a line and have it delete everything except intersects... should be easy to code that...
Your tutorials are the best and my goto. In this one, the background music is very distracting and makes it difficult to hear your instruction. Thanks for all you do.
Hi James, amazing demo of the "Perspective Guide"! I actually watched another demo of this before I watched yours. Yours is way, way better. I found the drag & drop colour fill interesting & potentially (from a newbie's point of view) very useful. Just one question about your use of it; why do you use your finger, rather than the Pencil, which is in your hand?
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. It seems like it would be faster to put your guides on one layer. Make it nearly transparent, and then do your detail work on a separate layer. Imagine sketching with a pencil, then going back over it with ink. It would save a lot of erasing and give a cleaner final product.
+Greg Steele yes definitely that would give a better result, this was my first experiment with the perspective assist and so I thought I would make a video of it :)
+Greg Steele thanks :) it's a really great app I think, there are a couple of things it could gain to make it perfect for me, but it's an ever evolving app so hopefully it will keep getting better
+Anna Lee haha well I have done a walk through for one of my paintings, but the commentary was added after completing the painting. I am working on paintings next that show me actually working on the painting like in this video, but they take a while to paint and then edit....soon hopefully lol
As a serious calligrapher i would like to create some layers with both pre ruled lines ans slope lines at various degrees of slope. Can i use the perspective tool to achieve that?
+Judi Hopewell I guess you can insert a grid on a background layer the use it however you want, distort it etc. Most things can be done, just need a little thinking around to make them suit :)
hi. Thank you for great tips. But do you maybe know why I can't get this feature? It says it comes out in the next release or I can get it fo 1.99$. Whats going on?

Only downloaded app this morning and have learnt so much from you. Many thanks!!
happy to help :)
Terrific job! Even an old guy like myself, understood. You're a good teacher.
+TheCombatartist lol thank you very much, glad you liked it 😊
Wow, I'm glad this exists. I just got my iPad, and I'm waiting for the apple pencil. I think I'll definitely be making use of this feature.
+Kismespades yeah it's a pretty cool tool 😊
Learned quite a bit from your process, great to do with split screen along with the video
great I am really pleased. I keep forgetting about the split screen, I really should use it myself!!
I have the 9 in pro so it's a little harder, but since this was kind of a good sandbox example it was easier to go through it.
Btw I just for the hell of it checked and you can quick assign perspective assist to the quick actions they recently added.
Awesome!😊
thanks again! I'd never realize this app could do all of these things!
+Anna Lee hey no problem, I'm learning too :)
Anna Lee ล
Nice job James, I'm new to iPad Pro and Procreate and I'm finding your videos very inspirational. Keep up the great work..... thank you
glad you enjoy them thank you :)
Awesome! Can't believe the time I wasted, not knowing about this feature!
I have been using procreate for more than a year, and I never discover this feature, thanks for this demonstration, it was really useful.
no problem I am happy that I could help :)
Thank you so much, James. So useful and clear. I had tried to to do something with the tool, but had not taken into account the perpsective button on the layer...now I can get it...so well sticked lines...!!!! Powerful and beautiful result.
Kind regards from Bilbao Spain. Rosa
+rosa cobos fantastic, I am very happy it was useful :)
Great video James, i didn't realise this was a feature on perspective guides. This is gonna make things move on nicely! Keep up the great work! Thanks
Thank you :)
So helpful, thank you for your clear, step-by-step approach
Just started watching your tutorials and I love them. Continue sharing!! Thanks!
Thank you I really appreciate that :) I will keep making them as long as people watch them! :)
Getting ready to watch your complete tutorial! Will purchase app when my new I Pad pro arrived! Very exciting.....
hope you enjoy :)
Awesome vid. Mind blown on the dragging colors/fill lol how did I not know that?!
Your vid pretty much covered my questions, ty
+R.E. Murphy hey no problem, I'm still discovering a few things too 😀
I just bought this feature and was really confused but this helps so much! Thank you!
Also you can just hold down the colour icon and itll take you back to the previous colour,do the same to get back to the new colour instead of the eyedropper :)
WOW, great video. You opened up so many possibilities for me, thank you.
My pleasure
Thanks for this demo - very helpful - I tried to copy your drawing - it's a lot harder than you made it look!! More practice required!! :-)
Haha keep trying 😀
Great video! I found it extremely useful. Thank you. Where can I buy a perspective guide? I do not have that option?
Hopefully they make using the perspective tool a bit easier... erasing all those lines makes things a bit wonky and is a lot of work. would be nice if you could just touch a line and have it delete everything except intersects... should be easy to code that...
Apple should give diamonds to you for this tutorial man!
lol I wish! thank you :)
Thank you for uploading these tutorials, they are really helpful! Keep up the good work! :)
+AnnaPenelope01 thanks for watching! I will keep doing videos :)
You are really talented man. How do you make it look so easy.
thanks, just practice :)
Your tutorials are the best and my goto. In this one, the background music is very distracting and makes it difficult to hear your instruction. Thanks for all you do.
I’m enjoying your pace and style . I have a question, why is the title of the music that you use in the background of your video?
Fabrice bouillaud thank you! I haven’t given it a title lol I composed it in garage band myself 😊
Thank Colin. I find sometimes the pencil is not great at selecting buttons etc and my finger is more reliable
Ok, thanks James.
no problem
good videos mate, im trying to learn digital art looks like a good hobby!
+Luke Stagg thanks very much, yeah it's a great way to spend free time 😀
Excellent Tutorial, one question, has it got to be a iPad Pro please?
no, procreate works on ipad air etc
Thanks very much.
Outstanding tutorial, thank you. My question is how can I use this feature to create simple graph paper canvas?
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. It seems like it would be faster to put your guides on one layer. Make it nearly transparent, and then do your detail work on a separate layer. Imagine sketching with a pencil, then going back over it with ink. It would save a lot of erasing and give a cleaner final product.
+Greg Steele yes definitely that would give a better result, this was my first experiment with the perspective assist and so I thought I would make a video of it :)
Still getting the feel of ProCreate myself, so your videos have been extremely helpful. Thanks again.
+Greg Steele thanks :) it's a really great app I think, there are a couple of things it could gain to make it perfect for me, but it's an ever evolving app so hopefully it will keep getting better
Tutorial on how to make brushes? Need to make skin brush, also love walk through tutorials on complete paintings. No pressure, lol
+Anna Lee haha well I have done a walk through for one of my paintings, but the commentary was added after completing the painting. I am working on paintings next that show me actually working on the painting like in this video, but they take a while to paint and then edit....soon hopefully lol
Procreate is so versatile
really cool! when it comes out the next version of procreate with this tool included ?
I believe so, in version 4
You make it so easy
😊
Is there a shortcut for the perspective assist or do I have to click 3 buttons every time I want to turn it on/off? Thanks!
I'm not aware of one sorry :/

I have procreate 4.2 and I don’t know how to do what he’s doing at 8:05
You just pull from the colour wheel and add it to the area u want to fill
Thank you, it helped me a lot!
you are welcome
Fantastic Vid. Attempt to draw monsters from famous tv shows or films. Maybe Ultron from Avengers . Im a kid at the school you teach at
Are we Procreate users allowed to use the Procreate label / logo on our YT thumbnails or anywhere in our video?
Yes
great question. don't ask it again
hi. Thank you for great tips. But do you maybe know why I can't get this feature? It says it comes out in the next release or I can get it fo 1.99$. Whats going on?
Yeah it's early access cost, that I paid too. The next update should include it, but who knows when that will be ?
Aah. I see. thanks.
No problem
Awsome
Thank you
Do I have to pay for the perspective guide feature? as it says early access!
Yes although whenever version 4 comes out it will probably be included
Thanks :)
Super
Thank you
can you save perspective configuration grids for later use?
I believe that the app use the last perspective configuration, but you can't save it. (but you can take a screenshot of the settings)
OMG - if that's a doodle, your other work must be awesome!
haha thanks
Neat!
+Anthony Martin Thanks :)
DUDE
