    It’s not a series issue. It’s a NASCAR model issue. The series is a waste because it’s a pay to play.. trucks get bigger numbers so it’s easier to get sponsors.. and the big teams.. the difference between the two series is 200k.. and that’s just because it’s 20 races vs 23. So if it’s out of pocket or sposnors you have found, it’s way easier to just spend spend the money in the deeper pool, and hope you learn to swin before you sink. Even kids in the series, don’t want to be in the series, if talented was actually hired, then this series would be relevant and competitive again, but really it’s just for manufacturers and team owners that would lose too much getting rid of the program, so they keep it sense some still pay for it, and if they went to trucks or xfinity, the people that can afford a full season… will just go to the bigger teams.. thus the teams might struggle for $ because they won’t be the top dog anymore

      That's honestly the thing that disappointed me the most about the Heat series of games. ARCA is under the NASCAR umbrella, and it should be given the time in the spotlight alongside the dirt series. Maybe they had some issues getting tracks to agree to be scanned for the game or figuring out how to do the cup series at the smaller tracks. Either way, put both tiers of ARCA in the next NASCAR game, please. Not everyone used dirt as a path to the cup series, let us choose dirt or ARCA.

    As someone who serves as a VP of Marketing for an ARCA team I’ll say a few things.
    1. It costs us approximately 20-40k per race to get that car ready and on track, we can do it for less but there’s no competing with the big teams then.
    2. Like he said a brand new motor is 35k, but you need a whole Holly system and by the time you’re done installing it with all the extras it’s around 50-60k
    3. If you do not spend 750,000-1,000,000 a year you will not be competitive and cannot prove a ROI to sponsors
    For ARCA as a whole to succeed we need bigger purses and we need fans at the track, it is damn near impossible to sell to companies with no fan interactions

      The whole race purses is a joke. As a car chief on the west side I look at all the entry blanks. Most races are $5k to win without contingency. With contingency that gets bumped to $12,500 but second still gets like $4k. When you have to buy tires at $300+ a piece for a short track. That's a majority of your purse right there. Also out here on the west, no one knows what ARCA is. So advertising for a race is hard. Brand recognition. We need the NASCAR name back in the seriss

    • @m.a.mehalick0910

      Blame NASCAR development for your issues. Seriously. Pay to race is the biggest crock in the world. The level of competition is next to nil in ARCA because of the pay to race model. Put naturally developed talent in your cars, without them actually having to fork over money in order for an opportunity to race and you'll start seeing your series grow based on talent, which in turn makes your product more desirable.

  • @jessebernhagenracing
    @jessebernhagenracing 2 роки тому +20

    2015 I spoke with Mason Mitchell Motorsports about driving their car. The price tag for one race was a minimum 60,000 dollars, I doubt the number is still that high, but to hear that the winners purse is that low is honestly hilarious, as many of the big Super Late Model races and even some Pro Late races pay better than that to win.
    I would like to see NASCAR work with the major Super Late Model touring series' more, and create something that up and coming drivers can step into and have a realistic shot. There would need to be pretty strict rules to limit costs and different things, don't need it turning into a Super Late version of what we currently have. But there will be a lot more talent at La Crosse Speedway's Oktoberfest in a few weeks than the ARCA series, and maybe even the truck series. Support your local tracks!

      Hell no nascar shouldn't touch any short track series. Nascar sucks and they ruin everything they touch. Freaking they had the most perfect product ever at Bristol. 55 freaking sellouts in a row. And what the hell did they do? Oh let's change it. Freaking idiots. Now they dump dirt on it just to try and garner interest. I am staunchly against nascar taking anything over. It sucks so bad that they are in charge of the top series. CRA puts out a much more dominant product and I would throw up if nascar ever took them over. Many nascar drivers have raced a season in the super series and none have won the championship. The list includes Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliot, John Hunter Nemichek, Eric Jones, David Stremme, Steve Walllace to name a few. And they were consistently out raced by better drivers never given a chance but it's not what you know it's who you know.

    Interestingly, the payouts in ARCA seem to be comparable to regional dirt SLM series, like the Southern All Stars. No offense to ARCA/NASCAR, but with the travel and operations costs being what they are, they could and should up those purses to draw veterans back into the series. Some of those veterans have already gone back to asphalt short track racing or made the switch to dirt racing. More power to them, they at least have a chance of breaking even there.

    • @extragoogleaccount6061
      @extragoogleaccount6061 2 роки тому

      Yea...if the costs vs. payouts issue isn't fixed then the series will remain an F1-feeder series style of pay-to-play youngsters and a few teams losing money but working on development. Veterans will only be in a series if they can make a living and run the team on their earnings. And when you have rich 18 year-olds bashing up cars recklessly, those veterans have even more incentive to not show up. I mean, how many $5k race WINS will it take to replace your race car after some well-funded kid takes you out just once?!? I may not know all the math but the more you learn, the worse it seems to get. Is a top-tier ARCA car around $100k? It just doesn't make any sense to me how it could ever work like that.
      I wonder how much the cars for guys like Kimmel or even someone like Dick Trickle (who made a lot of money in "lower series") used to be? I'm sure there is a percentage that is the "break even" point for racing to be worthwhile if you take (winner's purse)/(car price) and average it for a series. Maybe someone with experience can chime in....

The Pinty’s series is kinda unknown, most of those drivers came from the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and the same goes for the Whelen Modified Series. I can't pretend to know what the reality of ARCA Racing is from an insider's perspective, but as an observer I've really felt like NASCAR just bought ARCA to eventually kill it, as they've really been moving in a direction to become more of a monopoly than they already were. In my opinion, ARCA looks very much ignored by the higher ups, has a dearth of driving talent, and just feels redundant and unnecessary in the grand scheme of stock car racing right now. It seems even more of a playground for unready rich kids to crash cars than any of the upper series are. It feels like it's too expensive for the average prospective racer to get into, yet so cheap compared to the upper series that anyone with a little bit of daddy's money can have a field day there for as long as they wish.
    ARCA has an identity crisis right now. I do understand why people with a vested interest would be upset over criticism of it, but I don't think it really offers a whole lot of upside for fans to buy into it. There are very few competitive veterans, and the majority of the younger kids don't seem to have that high of a ceiling. If they don't need fan interest to be financially viable, then there's no issue here, but I don't know of many racing series that work like that.

After the collapse of the ultra expensive Supertouring era in the late 90's/early 00's the BTCC came out with lower cost rules in 2001. Over the next few years the series saw a major growth thanks to lower costs and in more recent times, thanks to another low cost rule set, has boasted one of, if not the biggest Touring Car grid in the world.

    I think either ARCA teams need higher payouts (either from racing or TV) or costs to be competitive need to go down. I can go on Racing Junk and find ARCA cars going for 35-50 thousand each. I think costs should be more like 20-30 thousand with the current payout system. I think spec motors could possibly be a fix if they are inexpensive.

    Itd be nice if a tv deal solved the problem, but how often do you see arca on tv? Half the season is on mav with a couple big races ending up on the still niche fs1.
    If nascar proper could add in thatd help, but even the trucks can hardly pay.
    I think their best bet is to introduce a class racing system like Imsa. Keep the shiny new toys as the fast cars and add the old steel bodies or new construction that style as a "arca classics" series.
    The speed difference is already wide enough
    That way the young kids with money can get new stuff experience and the car count gets filled with cheaper cars that have that "better how it used to be" pull.

      Sometimes there are ARCA East & West races on the USA Network. However these races are shown on tape delay 3-5 days after the actual race date and they are often aired at times where no one is watching such as 2 am in the morning or 11 am in the morning on a weekday.

    Another thing that could help ARCA is if they got manufacturer support, as Chevrolet and Ford are being represented by cars that they don't even make anymore in the Chevrolet SS and Ford Fusion while the Toyota Camry in ARCA is an extremely old body style

    • @christopherbouchard4121
      @christopherbouchard4121 2 роки тому

      Changes are coming in that respect. The fusion and the SS will be replaced with another body style. For the fords it's the mustang DGR has. Can't say what the Chevy will be but you can probably figure that out.

    • @patrickracer43
      @patrickracer43 2 роки тому

      @@christopherbouchard4121 it's safe to assume that the SS will be replaced by the Camaro, although with GM aiming to be fully electric in a few years it's hard to say if they want to invest in changing the body for main ARCA and the east and west series, while the only manufacturer that has options is Toyota with them being able to decide if they want to update the Camry's body or go with the GR Supra like how they have with Xfinity

    Two things one stop using old generation cup cars I understand you’re trying to prepare drivers for those type of cars but that’s causing the most expense I would suggest running super late model cars. Most of these guys came from them and have them race at that level would have better racing. Two fixing the TV deal Would also fix a lot of the money issues for the teams. One last thing everyone forgets about the Arca Midwest tour I believe it’s an under rated race series that puts on good racing

    to be fair to those that take issue with your stuff about ARCA you only brought up one solution here which was very vague tv deal aside the solution of "find a way to bring costs down" is a problem in all racing especially the higher up the ranks you go. I agree with that premise you bring up but simply getting tv money and a slight portion at that wouldn't do much I'm sure because I can assume Arca races don't get that much viewership.

    Couple points from the last Video.
    1. Main ARCA needs to allow the current Xfinity car to compete. Those who fail to make said Xfinity race can run the ARCA race at the same track.
    2. East and West needs to be a SLM series running the Unified rules. There'll be more teams than spots in a race.
    3. Last and most Controversial. 16 Charters for Traditional ARCA. Also, I agree on the TV deal Darrin mentioned.

  • @berke2336

    If NASCAR and ARCA want to make the series competitive again they have to eliminate these late model bodytypes and move towards a more 70s and 80s style of competition where you need to still have stock body parts to an extent.

    Let's think through this "TV Deal" idea. When something like the Cup Series or F1 are able to profit share from their TV deals with venues and competitors it's because the TV networks are paying for the privilege to broadcast their events. You can be almost certain that's not happening with ARCA races. I think it's likely when NASCAR negotiates their overall TV deals they probably insist that a certain number races from their lower divisions receive some TV time. You can rest assured that TV networks aren't clamoring to pay for the rights to broadcast ARCA races. I doubt there's any TV deal for ARCA that could lead to profits that could be shared. If you look back about 20 years, the now defunct Champ Car World Series actually had to pay TV networks to broadcast many of their races.

    You want more spectators? Combine ARCA races with NASCAR races and share the ticket proceeds. Daytona used to run the ARCA 200 with the Busch Clash. Now they're on separate days. Must cost NASCAR more too. Bet the ticket sales don't come close to running the track for a day.
    Also put ARCA back on a tv station or APP that people watch. I never even heard of MAVTV let alone watch it. Gat Amazon or Netflix or anything that gets larger viewing audiences.
    Another thing would be call it NASCAR ARCA Series. The NASCAR name carries alot more weight with prospective new audiences than ARCA.
    Also spot on with the $$$$. You'll probably get some legacy drivers to compete and mentor the younger ones to get them ready to move up the ladder. Ken Schrader still races. He'd be an excellent mentor and competitor for ARCA.

    It's no secret the K&N/ARCA west/east series has been slowly stealing away young talent from local short track races. Any 15-20 year old kid with a budget that wants to go cup racing maybe runs late models for a year or so then jumps straight to the west/east series.
    For the past 15 years, ARCA has become the feeder series for guys looking to hit the big time in stock car racing. It is what it is and it is no longer the independent league stock car circuit it used to be.
    IMO, make the minimum age for the series 18 years old. More importantly, merge all the east/west/big ARCA series into one and make it a feeder series/touring series. 150-200 mile races nationwide maybe 15-22 times per year. The short races, old cup cars, and crate engines will keep costs down and anyone wanting to run top dog in NASCAR must run a full season in ARCA to be approved for any further high level racing. The series can also be an experiment rat for new tracks/tracks NASCAR is looking to return to in a way to see how competitive the racing can be.
    This strategy keeps short tracks alive, NASCAR healthy, and ensures only the best of the best reach the cup level as the young rookies get plenty of seat time in a late model car before they ever climb into a stock car cranking well over 700HP with very real consequences.
    This new strategy will bring more fans in and more money to the teams. Think of it like a futures game for major league baseball. Everyone wants to see the future star on the come up.
