    I love this way of doing freq separation for skin anomalies. We need to make natural skin texture an accepted thing again. Thank you so much for not supporting blurring out everything.

    I ve seen a lot of skin retouches but all of the destroyed the skin and made it look soapy and so fake .... finally I find your videos ! Thank you for sharing this is the best I ve seen till now !!! Love it !!!

    i never knew you used different apply image settings for 8 but and 16 bit, could you explain why that is please

      For my experience only need to change 2/128 or 2/0 (8/16 bits) in substract mode, are the same results, don't need to invert and add mode

    Soo, what's the deal with the settings having to be different in 16 bit mode? As far as I've seen in the first video, the '8 bit' settings worked in the 16 bit mode
    p.s. I can't wait to try your approach to frequency separation! The way I learned it, you just add more blur on the color layer in the places you want to correct, but your approach looks way better and harder to overdo

    Thanks for this. That being said, where I live, it's very hard to find fresh-faced models with great skin. Can you do a frequency separation on a model with acne?

      Hello Joseph, yes you can. It might take you more time and patience, but it is possible. You might want to use a mix of Frequency separation, micro and global dodge and burn and skin color correction. If you need help or questions, feel free to message me :). Cheers

    Put that curves layes on luminosity so that you afect the contrast and not the color. Cheers!

      @@GerrickTaylor23 he literally explained everything. use curve adjustment layer with blending mode "luminosity" cause curve affect your saturation when you increase or decrease contrast. contrast = black and white = luminosity = light and dark = highlight and shadow = yin and yang. lol hope that helpful

    for some reason, my texture layer is not showing the texture after I do the "apply image" step. And I am doing the correct settings for 8 bit. It is just showing a gray screen. And I have it on the correct "color" layer. What's going on?

      it is rather simple bro: just select the 2 layers you wish to group and press Ctrl+G i am not sure if it Option+G on a MAC but that is how you create a group for layers.

    Hi there. I just got my Mac and I’m excited about editing. But i really your help or anyone’s that is. I had an hp and i couldn’t edit the raw photos so i had to convert to DNG. Do you have to do same on the Mac or you can edit raw photos on the Mac?

      download Adobe Bridge, as well as Adobe camera raw. you need both.

    i use affinity photo but can you just use the clone tool on photoshop? that's much easier than circling everything with the eliptical. much faster too! especially if you're using a mouse like me...

      You can use the clone tool in AP as well when doing frequency separation. 😉

      I believe 8 bit is a JPEG image and 16 bit is a RAW image

    You really need to say what tools are you using for every passage, someone that has never done this finds this video very difficult to follow, sorry, i appreciated what you do, but it becomes frustrating without all the steps shown.

    16 bit is an extra way of saing RAW right? I went to image > mode and changed it to 16 bit channel
