I didn't really scare my kids at Halloween but when they turn 10 and started collecting an allowance it was my time to shine. I made them save $50 before they could spend any of it. And before they get buy something they wanted they had to buy something they need it first. So I would have them pick out something they needed and then they could go pick something that they wanted. When we would get to the checkout line I would start whining and begging for them to buy me candy like they used to do to me. My kids hated it they were so embarrassed they begged their dad to take them to the store because every time we took them to the store for them to buy stuff with their money I would do this. So finally they talk their Dad into taking them. And this is the best part soon as they walked in the store he started begging for stuff and begged for stuff throughout the entire store and at the checkout and the kids decided they would rather I take them cuz I just begged it to check out.

Renee, my husband is 81 with bladders cancer, I am 77. Two years ago I wanted chicken. With the help of UA-cam I learned how to build a chicken house and run. It turned out great. I sense built a hospital coop and run. Then I had you girl that the others tried to kill. After trying to reintegrate her back into the flock, I gave up and built her her own coop and run. She was able to free range, with supervision with the other four girls. But she had her own palace. Since then my husband and I build all the furniture for our Dodge ProMaster 2500 cargo van. As of yet we have only taken it out for a test run, over night. Don’t give up on your dreams. I addition to learning to use tools last year. Took up machine quilting. Go for it, life is to short.

When I was about 4 or 5 (many, many moons ago) we had a silver tree. I thought it was so beautiful the way it reflected the lights. A couple days before Christmas, there was a short in a string of lights and the tree caught on fire. I remember my dad unplugging the lights and telling my oldest brother to "Go get the hose!" and my mom hauling in pots of water to throw on the tree, I remember my dad spraying down the tree until the fire was out. My poor silver tree was no longer beautiful. I was crying and my mom put her arm around me and said, "It's okay, we'll get another tree for Santa to put the presents under." Back then, my parents didn't put any presents under the tree until after all us kids went to sleep Christmas Eve night...'tinsel' trees were not allowed after that..

For the fruit flies, put a cup of vinegar in a cup. Then add some cling wrap to the top. Add some holes to the top where the fruit flies can go to the vinegar , where they drown in the vinegar. This really works.

At age 18 I left home, Everett Washington, to goin the Navy. About 15 years later we we transferred to base in Washington and had a chance to meet up with a field long school friend. Wanting to make a good impression I was dress up looking my best. My friend Louise had a new home on some farm land and did not have her landscaping completed. She had some lumber stretched across a muddy yard so as not to have to walk in the mud. I took about four steps and slipped and fell straight into the mud. Louse just laughed and said you haven’t changed a bit. That was 49 years ago . I am still the same.

I decorate for Halloween decorations outside for the middle of September. But also add some of the Christmas faux trees added into the decorations. Adding skeletons , ghosts, spiders, & bats to the faux trees n webbing too. Then added a plastic pumpkin head to the top of the tree. Added a old jacket to the top half of the tree. Then added net lighting to the bottom.
Then added witch figuring, reaper figurine, ghosts, ghost fairy, etc. It all filled the hole yard.
After Halloween , I take the Halloween decorations down & put away.
Then I start putting up Christmas decorations outside, for the whole yard.
Also decorate inside for Christmas too.

I grew up in a stone house and i froze my ass off during winter. It was set 18-20 C so about 65-70 F and it never helt warm.
Now moved fro east europe to Sweden living in an 150 year old wood house with just wood and tretex as isolation with floor heating set to 16 C/ 60 Funless its a blizzard and its warm, we more or less have a nudist colony because its so nice and toasty.
You guys got a magic house that needs little heating and that is great, nice on the budget.

I use a sifting litter box (I actually got 2 of the same cheap litter boxes and drilled holes in the one) , but instead of cat litter I get a 50 pound bag of wood pellet horse stall stuff for $5. Scoop poop once a day and sift once a day. (When the pellets get wet they absorb the moisture and smell and return to saw dust.) Then once a week I empty the bottom tray into my compost.

we had very steep steps going upstairs as a kid. for christmas when we were about 7, 8, & 9 years old we got those plastic saucers. Yes, we did it! Down the stair, whoosh! Across the 24 ft livingroom. The boys only went about half to 3/4's of the way across the livingroom. Well, then it was my turn. I was the smallest & lightest. I took and pushed off. It happened so fast. I was down the stairs and flying across the livingroom. On the far side was the Christmas tree in the bump out on that side of the livingroom. There were 3 picture windows behind the Christmas tree, the center one flat and the 2 side ones were at a slight angle, to form the 10 ft wide by 6 ft deep bump out. Well, it was a good thing the tree was there. It abruptly stopped my saucer and propelled me up and forward into the tree. But if it hadn't been there, I would have gone head first thru that center picture window. The boys were rolling on the floor laughing & crying bcuz of my flight thru the air. It scared the crap out of me at that instant. And the old, dry needles hurt like crazy in my face and arms. But later I couldn't stop laughing rethinking what happened. But I also realized that it was too dangerous to do that again.
Years later, I had moved into a new to us house the evening before. You walk from the kitchen on a narrow landing above the basement stairs, to get to the bathroom.
Well, I missed the landing by the fridge in the kitchen. I went down the stairs with my left leg in front of me, my main body, followed by my right leg pointing back up the stairs. My ex (husband at the time) came to the landing after hearing the thump, thump, thump, and asked me what I was doing? I said I was checking to see if I could ski down the stairs. I only broke & shoved my big toe bone back towards my foot bone. The kids insisted that they push me around in the diningroom tables chair. Later I laughed my butt off.

We set our heat to 65 during the day and about 50 at night, from about 1 hour before we go to bed. On the other side our air is set at 82 in summer. We moved from England last year and air isn’t needed over there and. I hate the way it dries the air. Our house was built in 1850’s so only had a coal fire that we changed to a log burning stove.

I'm with you about clowns! We had a local TV show with a famous clown when I was a kid and I begged my mom to take me to see him at the mall one day. When the clown came on stage I ran out screaming and hid behind the car and wouldn't come out! Mom was 'not' happy!😂 Glad you are ok Jen!

It is a two story house, heat rises and the thermostat is downstairs. Turn the temp to about 60. What kind of furnace? Electric, natural gas or propane? If it is propane you will have quite a bit of condensation on the inside of the windows (get a dehumidifier to get rid of the moisture.

I had the same stair incident and laughed the whole way down too. My teenage son was the one to see it and looked totally horrified and asked me "why in the world are you laughing?" So I fully understand you laughing. I had a huge bruise on my butt too and it turned into a calcium build up that was there for at least 10 years and felt like pinching when I sat. That part wasn't so funny. All the way down though, all I could think of was how funny it probably looked, especially if I was watching it.

I started having a show tree that I decorated to look like I wanted and put up a smaller tree in the front room that I put our family ornaments on. It's fun stuff.. but I still have our old ornaments to see.

Stairs incident is so funny it reminds me of the time that I what up my parents steps and I was on crutches I got to the top step and the a crutch went out from under me and I somersault it down the stairs backwards and when I landed at the bottom I sat there laughing my sister asked are you okay I would tell her and I said and I said I broke it and that's the only thing that happened to me I had bruises but nothing serious seriously the only thing with a broken nail I was so lucky anyway that's my falling down the stairs story I love watching your videos always cheers me up God bless you
