    • @rocksjoshua
      @rocksjoshua 5 років тому +56

      Because the casual NFL viewer doesn't understand that it all starts with the O-line. They see a qb get sacked and blame it on his mobility. They see a qb get hit by a 350-400lb man, and because he has that pressure in his face he throws a bad pass, but instead of blaming the O-line, they blame the qb for holding the ball to long.

    Giants offensive line since 2011 has averaged 25th (8th worst) in the NFL. Their run game averaged 24th (9th worst). Their Wide Recievers have ranked among the league leaders in dropped passes in several seasons. Since Eli became a Giant he's played for a team with a Top 10 Scoring Defense TWICE! That's 2/15 years (13% of his career). By comparison, Tom Brady has played on a team with a Top 10 Scoring Defense 16/18 years (89% of his career). Brady has also played on a team ranked Top 10 in special Teams 14/18 years (78% of his career). Gee, don't you think that makes a difference in a game that relies on TEAM more than any other?
    A lot of NFL fans are really ignorant. They look at QB stats in a vacuum without factoring in the performance of the TEAM around him (you know, the other 49 guys that dress up on Sunday). Also, Coaching and Personnel Management and deployment are major factors. Eli hasn't failed the Giants. The organization has failed him. The guy gets no respect and is undeservedly treated like garbage year after year from his own fans and both local and national sports writers. I've been closely following sports for 30 years and I've never seen anything like it.
    A Two Time Superbowl Champion & 2 X MVP, beating the "GOAT QB And Coach" BOTH times in come from behind fashion, has successfully overcome a TON of adversity from inside and outside his own locker room, yet he is treated like a bum in the park. Eli Manning ranks Top 10 All-Time in TD Passes, Passing Yards, Completions, & 4th quarter comebacks. Like it or not he's going to be enshrined in Canton one day when all is said and done. Eli will have the last laugh, book it!
    Yet, he never complains, he never throws a teammate under the bus, he never curses off a reporter or "fan", never steps out of line and publicly airs out his dirty laundry against team management (like contemporaries such as Rodgers or Roethlisberger have done on several occasions). Humble and respectful as they come, ALWAYS a team first guy, and yet he is somehow, someway, universally mocked and hated by the majority. Have I mentioned he's one of the TOUGHEST and most DURABLE to EVER play the position?? We live in a twisted world folks. I've never seen a guy, in ANY sport, who has accomplished so much under well below ideal circumstances, that is so underappreciated and undervalued as Eli Manning is, especially by his own team's fan base.
    The majority of NYG fans don't deserve Eli and never have. Perhaps one day they'll appreciate him, long after he's gone, when the Giants haven't won a damn thing for 40 years and have yet to find another franchise QB to replace him. Maybe, just MAYBE then they will begin to understand, and respect the special QB and MAN they had on their side, in their teams huddle in those clutch moments, and failed to appreciate all those years.

      @The Irish Italian It really is refreshing. I mean the guy had the most points in the NFC east at the end of the year, highest completion % of his career, was extremely efficient throwing down the field, was sacked 47 times on 3 step drops (which supports Zac's claim that this o line was so bad that it really was hard to watch), and he improved at the end of the year while Obj was faking an injury to get off the field. Th guy is a class act and has never done anything but what is best for the team. Hopefully he can shut some people up this year.

      Also, what would you prefer your qb to do when his oline isn't giving him any time: take a sack/throw the ball away OR dump it off to your superstar back who might make something happen? Hmm that a tough one (more heavy sarcasm)

      On a real note though, former Giants fan Gettleman cannot be my GM, the Giants got trade raped
      A 5th round pick for Snacks, the best run stopping DT in football,
      DRC was cut to make room for solid players like Jonathan Stewart and a bunch of nobodies from Carolina
      A 4th round pick for Eli Apple
      A 4th round pick for JPP, which was ok because BJ Hill shows promise.
      But Gettleman has destroyed a talented team with some chemistry problems, a lot of personalities, that was missing an offensive line to a team with an above avg OLine, assuming that trade involving Vernon works out well, with no talent anywhere else
      As I see it now the Giants have Jackrabbit, Ogletree, Goodson, and Barkley the OLine should be good but under appreciated and wings and prayers everywhere else

      @@impervius8690 i didn't say that he is a first ballot hall of famer, but a 2x sb champion and mvp, he came through when it mattered. He is nowhere near his brother stats wise but, his ability to read defenses (him and peyton do that the best) really overshadowed his capability and talent as a qb. There are far more complete, accurate and stronger arm qbs than him, but his decision making alone is canton worthy.

      TheBalkanSnorlax his decision making is garbage compared to Peyton. What the fuck are you smoking? Eli has been among the league leaders in picks every year basically for the last FIVE years. Even before then, his first four years in the league were such underwhelming garbage that giants fans wanted him out of town. HOF is guys who can elevate others, not those who need to be elevated. Eli is a HOF after waiting at LEAST 5 years and when he gets lucky to enter an incredibly weak HOF class.

      Amazing? Lmao he's above average at best even with good protection, sure he can still make big throws but not on a consistent basis anymore, the arm just isn't there, and he still makes boneheaded decisions way too often for a veteran qb, he's not even close to the same qb he was in 2011 that o line was pretty bad too just not as bad as it's been the passed few years the difference is Eli was able to overcome it back then now he can't. He's too skittish in the pocket he's constantly worried about getting hit that's why when the o line isn't perform at a decent level Eli is an absolutely horrendous qb because he's scared of getting hit, he falls to the ground before the pash rusher even gets to him most of the time

    Very well thought out great video, but I completely disagree with the mechanics ur talking about. Eli is on the tall side of 6 ‘4, and weighs barely 205 probably rn, no way with just his shoulder he can throw a ball 60 plus yards. Maybe if ur cam newton with that big upper body. Eli manning does his best to get his feet planted really good actually. I think you were a little to hard on him about that aspect. But that’s just my opinion. Welp, as a Browns fan, I can tell you we double-whammyed ourselves in that OBJ trade. Punched a gaping hole in our solid OLine based on a wisp of a hope that the guy who didn't play more than a handful of snaps was up to the task. And then brought discord into the receiver ranks. Baker didn't break the rookie passing record with OBJ on the roster. Once he was there, though, shit went down the crapper. Granted, everything is always in flux in Cleveland, so it isn't fair to dump it all on OBJ's arrival. Add to that OBJ is super talented, and people LOVE to bet on potential. Problem is, they tend to ignore the associated negatives. Trading a draft pick with no face and someone from the not-so-glamorous lineman position for the legendary OBJ seems like a steal. Until the line starts sinking like a paper machet rowboat, and even though he racks up a ton of yards, OBJ and the rest of the corps translate this into mostly ineffectual stat padding - minus the points that they SHOULD have on the board.
    I suspect OBJ would be better off with a team that really needs even just one good receiver. He seems like the kind of guy who shines more when all the focus is on him, but this attitude tends to be corrosive to possible existing chemistry.

  • @Cee_Jay_

    Dude, THANK YOU! So tired of the lazy analysis being regurgitated by people who clearly don't watch the Giants every game (though who could blame them?).
    The worst part is these people -- supposed "fans" included -- talk out of both sides of their mouth, acknowledging that our O-line has been hot garbage (at best) for years, while also expecting Eli to somehow thrive behind it.
    They cite his poor season in 2017 even though OBJ and Marshall were out for most of the year, Shepard missed several games, not a single starting O-lineman on that roster was either on the team to start or finish the next season (Flowers), no RB was even on an NFL roster period (Darwka, Vereen, etc.), and the same could be said about the majority of his receiving corps (King, Rudolph, Lewis Jr.). But again, he should've performed at an MVP level all things considered...
    Anyway, rant over, great breakdown, though I fear you're preaching to the choir. The OBJ fanboys wouldn't even make it past the part where OBJ is criticized for his body language and immaturity.

It is amazing that most people how are so called experts don't have a clue what they are talking about or know how to watch a football game. I will say that the slant pattern against the Eagles should have been called PI and it was not even close. Also the stunt the Cowboys showed on that sack was something they were showing all night. It is the job of the lineman that if nobody comes to your side, you wheel back and pick up backside rush. They could not and did not do that throughout the entire game. Once again great analysis and great channel.

  • @tripleoo0
    @tripleoo0 5 років тому

    That point about Manning only making mindless throws at OBJ actually makes a lot of sense to me. Beckham is a transcendent talent in the league; one of the few receivers that not only can get separation at a moment's notice, but also doesn't necessarily need separation to make the catch, even though he's relatively undersized for the modern receiver prototype. When you have as little time to throw as Eli does, that clock in your head has to be ticking, and if Beckham can catch basically anything you throw at him from any position, all you have to do is get it to him in a place he has even a minuscule chance to come down with it. Thing is, when you can't get much velocity on your throws anymore, that's as much a liability as it is a blessing. So, yeah, lots of those throws are pretty ill-advised, but with Beckham replaced with a supremely reliable but unheralded Golden Tate, I actually expect Eli to have a bit of a renaissance year, so long as the play calling adjusts. The Giants have everything they need to be a great west coast offense; transcendent dual-threat HB, reliable receivers, a big receiving TE, and a QB with a quick mind and good accuracy. They just need to coach to those traits and not try to be the Killer B's without the necessary offensive line.

      Something that even in his prime Eli was never great at
      Eli at his best had a beautiful deep ball
      He no longer has that
      There’s literally treads of videos online showing Eli either miss, over throw or worse under throw Odell in his routes

Pausing and looking at your notes takes the flow out of what you're saying. This would be alright if you weren't going for this conversational style of presentation. For example from 12:07-12:44, you look at your notes multiple times during sentences, and this takes that conversational feel out of it.

I was just saying, especially being in the bay, a lot of 9er fans especially, but national fans in general, were saying they wanted OBJ more than AB, criticizing AB for being a Diva.... I was pointing out the hypocrisy. OBJ is the biggest Diva in the league currently... Though Bakers competing for that title pretty strongly

    I have to disagree with your analysis here. While there are certainly examples of Eli making good plays and decisions, he gave up a lot of opportunities throughout the season for big gains and forced the ball at times that made no sense. I also find the claim that he's a better quarterback when he's not throwing to odell to be false as well. While it's certainly true that there were times he forced the ball to odell, and did so more to him than other receivers, the Giants had been objectively better with odell on the field for the past few years. You're not wrong about the O-line though.

    I am glad and thankful you made this. Eli had one of his best season for completion percentage 66% highest of his career and the lowest interception since like 2008

    So I'm a GIANTS fan so I remember Eli before we got Odell and he was leading the league in turnovers so what your putting out their is a major falsehood he may read the defense but he often makes inaccurate throws

    I'm actually interested to see how Eli Manning and the Giants do without OBJ because you made a great point about him forcing the ball to him a lot. Maybe the Giants will do better

  • @buddahGump
    @buddahGump 5 років тому +3

    Eli Manning leads in INT too. His reads arent good they are way off. He does force the ball thats why he always gets intercepted. OBJ and Barkley helped Eli pad his stats. Obj being abke to catch anything and Barkley was there for the check down and got alot of yards from nothing.

    Eli is heavily underrated Quarterback because he’s a heavily cerebral QB. Like this amazing video points out Eli is great at reading defenses and coverage. Eli grew into that because in his prime he had a big arm and actually from a quarterback standpoint aged well what didn’t age well was the team around him. Dave Gettleman while no Belichick was dealing with a broken team. A team that had a lot of developing issues in terms of a Volcanic Locker room But the biggest issue is we need to sure up the LT position or the Center position. If Gettleman can do this years draft well we have a chance of being decent again not great but decent

      Shockz was more than 1 game, especially that season. Remember the panthers game against Norman? Dropped the easiest pass of his life. I’m not saying Odell is bad, he’s a great talent, but he is not consistent enough. Not to mention the injuries.

    • @TheShockz101
      @TheShockz101 5 років тому +1

      Sgt Pork not consistent? LMFAOOOOO
      3 straight seasons of 90+ rec, 1,300+ rec yards & 10+ TDs. 4/5 seasons of 1,000+ rec yards (2017 was on pace for 100 rec 1,208 rec yards 12 TDs). 3x Pro bowler (should’ve been pb this season too but 🤷🏽‍♂️) 14 Franchise Records & 22 NFL Records. You act like no one drops passes, ex Julio Jones (who’s labeled a better WR) dropped a WIDE OPEN pass in the end zone, but you wouldn’t say anything about him. Lol

    In my opinion, this is the best overall analysis of Manning and Odell Beckham I’ve seen yet, the media just screams that Manning is old and can’t throw the ball to OBJ and that OBJ is being misrepresented as a “Diva” but in reality that’s what’s happened.

  • @belchmelch

    • @devinvargas7760
      @devinvargas7760 5 років тому +1

      if you watch film on both, they are very similar, but id rather have Odell. He's as good of a route runner, and probably the best receiver with the ball in his hands. And Brown is just a straight cancer
