I started my mechanical life with a worn out 8N Ford Tractor. It had so much blowby it looked like a steam engine on the left side of the engine. But, it had plenty of power and didn't expel oil, at least not at any kind of alarming degree. It was just part of running that old tractor. When I was about 15 I got a rebuild kit for it that included sleeves and that fixed it until my Dad ran it out of coolant. Since then I have had several engines with blowby including another tractor Dad tried starting with ether starting fluid. He broke ring lands on all 3 pistons. It was a Perkins 3 cylinder OHV Diesel on a Ford Super Dexta row crop tractor. I had to pull start it to get it to run. It had so much blowby the rocker arm oil stayed on top of the cylinder head and could not return to the crankcase. I made up a bypass for it so we could use it for the season, but eventually I put new pistons in it. That particular tractor was built in England and we live in Michigan and my local dealer wanted $300 for each piston. My Dad finally found pistons in Canada for about $120 each and I simply put 3 new pistons in w/ new rings NO HONING. Dad was skeptical of my ability and knowledge, so he wanted to start the engine befor we got everything all put back together. So, we gave it a try and it started immediately right there in his garage. It pumped a tiny bit of super black oil that came out of the exhaust pipe and got all over the exhaust manifold, but after about 20 hours they seated and that stopped. If you don't have much money you don't have to have a 100% sealed piston ring to have it work. Epilogue: Dad gave that tractor to my son and I screwed it up by doing the exact same thing to it w/ ether that Dad did, except that I had changed fuel filters and was running it on starting fluid to get the air bubbles out and I just revved it up too far for the cheap-junk cast aluminum pistons and I broke the ring lands again. It still starts if you pull it, and I put the same bypass on it to let the oil that accumulates on top of the head back down into the crankcase. It has plenty of power, just has blowby. I'll fix it again I hope befor I die. ben/ michigan

Thanks for sharing your experience. Nice to see the tractor made it to 3 generations. One learning lessons just like the next. Wonderful thing to share with your child. The main message besides family is everything, blowby isn’t the end of the world. Just something to pay attention to.

Would you consider that to much blow blowby from the truck on video?

I would not consider this too much blowby. I have drove this truck all over the country. This video was before I drove it everywhere.

Thank you for letting me know. I have a 2015 Powerstroke and have about the same amount coming out and wanted to gage what others considered excessive.

@@cubanlink33175 they have some kind of device you can use to gauge it. Every engine has a different amount that’s acceptable though. So I can’t say if this would be good for every engine.

    Explanation without demonstration is useless.

Comments like these are useless. If you have what you consider to be a better explanation then by all means post your own video. Stitch me to it when you’re done

@@Masskular I'm guessing he means is this too much or is it ok as the title says, you didn't clearly answer.

Sir crankcase breather is connected to turbocharger inlet
    What is the correct procedure,
Should breather be disconnected before checking blowby or it should be checked with hose connected to turbo inlet
