    Really cool results at the end!

    Hi Becky. Just ignore the keyboard cowboys and their negative comments. I suppose you have learned by now that UA-cam is overrun with the couch potato experts. If we learn from our mistakes then I am getting one hell of an education. Enjoy what you do and if you are pleased and happy with the end result, then who are we to tell you otherwise. Have a great day.

    Around 6:34 there is a large difference and a camera stop between what we saw you pour on, and how it looked when you started to torch. Each resin color was more spread out. Did you just wait X number of minutes, or did you tilt for those colors to spread before the torch ?

    Now I wonder if this can be done by kids with just acrylic paint (haven't tries the acrylic skins yet) and then maybe mod podge on top. That would make it a child safe craft.

    I do a lot of acrylic pour on records. I recently did a resin pour on an old 78 record, the old thick ones are usually made of shellac, but the next day I picked it up and took the tape off the back of the spindle hole, to make it into a clock, and it snapped right in half.
    Now I'm worried about the heat of the resin curing ruining my work on a vinyl record. Any ideas?

      I'm wondering if it snapped because of the total weight of resin and paint on the surface.

      ResinObsession it could be... I'm inclined to think that the old shellac couldn't handle the heat for the curing resin?

    What did you use the Vaseline for? Did you use it on the edge underneath so the resin doesn't stick?

    • @ResinObsession
      @ResinObsession  7 років тому +2

      Yes, the resin won't stick to the Vaseline.

    Hi and Thank You for sharing your technique. I noticed that you did NOT take the record label off. I am having a hard time with my labels showing, during the drying. I am first prepping my record with White Acrylic. Suggestions?
    Thank you

      Try painting with primer first.

      I have never seen anyone else remove the label before painting on a record, and I have never done it either. I do always prime my records by spray painting them with a flat/matte white or black spray paint. The main reason why I do this is because with certain labels, their color will leech into the paint and ruin the painting.

      Vinyl records can usually be found in thrift stores for little money. It's a cheap way to have a base for your resin painting project.

    You meant anything that IS water based. You misspoke

      Becky Hedges Why can't we use either? Is it mostly personal preference?

    • @beckyhedges1300

      BoWeava you said use anything that Is not water based. Acrylic is water based. Oil and water don't mix, therefore silicone introduction.

      Sorry, but I think you have me confused with the video creator. I was just wondering if using either would really 'hurt' anything. I'd imagine it might look kinda cool mixing oil and water based paints to resin. The separation of the two mediums might make for some cool results! 😉

      BoWeava you’re not supposed to use water based products in resin because water negatively effects resin’s curing process. You can get away with using acrylic paint or inks, but only about 10% paint to 90% resin, like she said at the beginning of the video. If you use too much acrylic paint/ink, your resin can cure tacky, soft, or not at all.

      Acrylic paint is a fast-drying paint made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion. Acrylic paints are water-soluble but become water-resistant when dry.

    thank you for the video and the final product looks good. However, safety precautions were not taken or advised. The resin is a flammable agent and the way you presented it seemed like it is ok, and it is not, especially knowing that anybody can try this.

    • @OrangeTabbyCat
      @OrangeTabbyCat 7 років тому +2

      c coweja What do you mean by flammable agent? I've been using a lighter dor years to get the bubbles out. Resin doesn't burn, at least not easily. If anything the plastic from the mold or the record melt easy.

    • @ResinObsession
      @ResinObsession  7 років тому +2

      Resin is not considered a flammable substance, but I always recommend using caution whenever using a flame. As @orangetabbycat pointed out, I would be more concerned about melting the record than the resin catching fire.
